Young female clerk. Seemed new. I enquired about complimentary upgrades and presented the sandwich. She sat the $20 aside and said if I was happy with her service i could tip her later. No upgrade.

I walked up to the counter and did some small chat with the young woman who was checking me in. When she asked for my ID, I put my $20.00 behind it and told her that it was my wife and I’s fifth wedding anniversary and asked her if there was anything she could do for us to make our stay more enjoyable. She upgraded us to a prestige luxury suite on the 43rd floor and gave us some coupons for free drinks, and slot play. She said the upgrade fee was typically $45.00 a night but my $20.00 covered that for 4 nights. Well worth the $20.00 trick if you ask me.

Checked in Sunday around 3:00 PM. Was escorted to a man probably in his 20’s. Told him we were in town for our wedding anniversary (true), hadn’t been in Vegas for years (also true), and wondered if he had any complimentary upgrades. I then handed him the $20 sandwich.

He offered a Siena Suite for $100+ more per night. Then he offered a Fortuna suite for $75 more per night.

I then asked for a room with a view of the Strip – nope.

Can you waive the resort fees? Nope.

How about a coupon book????? Nope.

And I thought grabbing the $20 and putting it back in my pocket would feel awkward……… it didn’t.
