Saved:  $$220 Tipped:  $50 Upgraded to  Luxury Suite  from  Luxury Suite

I checked in at around 2pm and did not target a particular clerk. I asked if any complimentary upgrades were available. I had the $50 in my hand with my CC and DL but didn’t offer it to him until after he said “let me check”. I slid him the $50 and said “I would really appreciate anything he could do for me”. He said he could give me a higher floor with a better view that is normally $55 dollars more per night and I said sure, sounds good to me. It was a company trip and I had 3 colleagues check in at the same time without doing the trick and they got rooms on floors 6, 8, and 14 facing away from the strip. I ended up on 34 facing the TI with a great view.

Saved:  $$110 Tipped:  $50 Upgraded to  Bella Suite  from  Bella Suite

Checked in at 1 PM on a Friday and was directed to a young female clerk. I had a reservation for two connecting Bella Suites and handed over the sandwich with $50 inside.

She stated she was unable to find any other connecting room upgrades but waived the $30 resort fee and $10 connecting room fee as well as giving me late checkout. A decent outcome considering the fees would have cost me $160.

Tipped:  $50 Upgraded to  Standard Suite w/ View   from  Standard Suite

When I arrived at the Palazzo, there was a small line. There was a gentleman there that was escorting us to each clerk and introducing us so I was unable to pick whom I wanted. My clerk was a young lady and she quickly began the conversation of the purpose of my trip. I explained that we are celebrating our 10yr wedding anniversary and also spoke of some of the things that we had planned to do. She then asked for my credit card and that is when I gave her the “sandwich” with a 50.00 bill. I then asked for any complimentary upgrades. She told me that they were completely booked but to let her look and see what she could do. Completely booked on a Monday with low rates and not very crowded??? Oh well she made two calls and both were unsuccessful. She then told me that she had to speak to her manager. When she returned she told me that I will like the room she was able to give me. She then asked if I needed any change and I told her no. She then handed me my room keys for a room on the 44th floor. When I arrived, I realized I had a Suite w/view which costs 40.00 more per night in which we were staying 4 nights. We had a view of the south strip and airport. It was amazing at night. They also took the 28.00 daily resort fee off as well and added a few coupons for the area. Well worth it in my book.

Tipped:  $50 Upgraded to  Luxury Suite  from  Luxury Suite

We booked for super cheap through Hotwire. Because front desk can see if you booked third-party, I was afraid of getting stuck in a bad room.

Targeted young Hispanic girl with glasses. Slid her a 50 between credit card and ID and asked about complimentary upgrades. We didn’t get a room upgrade but were put on the 41st floor with Strip View (which would have cost additional $70 a night). Got super late check out. Also got a free bottle of champagne sent up to us!

Was unable to Target a specific clerk but got an awesome guy. Slid him a $50 sandwich and he immediately went to the back to see what he could do. He reappeared and told us that he could upgrade is to the sienna suite for our stay. This room is insane and totally worth the 50.

Tipped:  $50 Upgraded to  Bella Suite  from  Bella Suite

Originally booked a Bella Suite with 2 beds at the Venetian. Going into this I wasn’t expecting much since there were 2 or 3 conventions in town the second weekend of August and the hotel lobby and casino floor were crowded more than usual. I checked in around 5pm on Saturday. I did not target a specific desk person and went to the first available person which was a pleasant young lady. When asking, my exact words were “is there any chance of a complimentary upgrade…specifically a higher floor with a street view?” (Like I mentioned earlier, I wasn’t expecting too much and didn’t want to appear rude and demanding). I was upgraded to the Palazzo tower on the 42nd floor with a decent view of their swimming pools and the fashion show mall…better than staring at the wall of another building. She offered me late check-out but I declined and politely explained that my departure flight would be at 7am so, while greatly appreciated, was not necessary.

She did mention that the Palazzo was newly renovated. I feigned happiness at this since I didn’t want to appear ungrateful but I’ve stayed at the Venetian, Venezia and Palazzo multiple times and most of their rooms are adequate

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Bella Suite  from  Bella Suite

I booked two rooms at the Palazzo over Labor Day Weekend 2017. We were a group of 8 girls celebrating my 25th birthday, so we of course wanted conjoining rooms. I called a few days prior to request that, but was told that I wouldn’t find out if they were conjoining until check-in, and if so, it would be a $60 charge ($10/room per night, 3 nights). We checked in around 7:30pm on Friday night of LDW, and although I was nervous to do the $20 sandwich, I sucked it up and gave it a try. I didn’t target any specific clerk as it was pretty busy and I was directed to a woman who was maybe in her late 20s. I had my ID and credit card ready with the $20 in between, so when she asked for it I handed it to her and said “we booked the two rooms and requested for them to be connected, but if there’s any other complimentary upgrades that would be great” and smiled nicely. She asked if we were celebrating anything and I told her my birthday, and that it was our first time in Vegas. She definitely saw the $20 and started typing away. She managed to get us connecting rooms on the 40th floor with a strip view. Also, one of the rooms was for 4 nights, so she gave us a late check out of 1pm on the last day. I was never charged the $60 fee to conjoin the rooms, so the $20 was worth the upgrade for a high floor with a strip view! Definitely don’t be shy about it, if they have something available they will most likely do everything they can do accommodate your request.

Booked a room Sunday night for Monday night on Priceline for $99. Had never been to the Palazzo so no idea what a typical room was like. Wife was concerned but I figured we were only staying one night so what’s the risk. Checked in around 10:45 am Monday figuring we’d have to wait get into the room but at least we could drop off our bags. About a dozen people in line in front of us about at least 8 clerks working. Didn’t/couldn’t target a clerk so just placed the tip in between my cards and handed it over. The clerk asked me if I needed change. I said no, I was hoping you could check for complimentary room upgrades. She didn’t say much but spent a while clicking and typing really fast on the the key board. She never acknowledged that she gave us an upgrade or anything but we were able to check in right away (but it was a Monday in a hotel with thousands of rooms so maybe no big deal), our room was on the 42 floor and over looked the strip (Treasure Island and Mirage) and we didn’t have to check out until 1:00. At the time I didn’t realize that all the rooms in the Palazzo are suites so I was super excited to see our room when we opened the door. Looking at the hotel web site today it looks like we had a Luxury suite (which is the lowest suite level). Looking back, if we did get an upgrade it was just to a higher floor/better view and I don’t believe the clerk ever acknowledged the tip. Overall, very happy with the room but don’t think the tip mattered.

Sunday morning check in, really hoping for Sienna and/or waiver of resort fee. I DID get high floor strip view, immediate room availability (11am) and later check out. 4She said they never waiver resort fee (ha!) 4 nite stay so we were happy anyway

Slipped our guy $40 and a big grin appeared. He said he would be happy to take care of us. I said it was our anniversary and wondered if there were any complimentary upgrades. Also said if there weren’t any… what would really be nice is a late checkout since our flight left in the evening. We got Both!
