Saved:  $-20 Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Deluxe Room  from  Deluxe Room

Warning: I think it’s pretty difficult to get upgraded to a suite at this hotel for free. They only have 19 suites total and only 188 rooms, so I think they are much more limited than most CET properties.

Ok, so I did the normal $20 sandwich. The woman asked if I wanted change. I said that it was a tip for her if she could upgrade our room and that it was my husband’s 40th birthday. We had booked a king room. She told us she could give us a room with a better view but two queen beds. We declined because this is a romantic getaway for us and we wanted a king bed. We asked if we could get a suite, and she said she would check with her manager. She came back and said they could give us a discounted price on the suite and we could stay there for an extra $100/night. We are used to the free suite upgrades (we’ve had them at Bally’s, Caesar’s, and Planet Hollywood), so we weren’t interested in putting out an extra $100 per night ($300 total). So we declined.

She kept the $20, which I found a little odd. Most places return the tip if they can’t upgrade you. Oh well.

In the end, it may have been a godsend because I think the suites are higher up and the music from Drai’s was pounding from 10:30pm-4:00am, and we were on a “quiet” floor (5th).

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Deluxe  from  Classic

Came in late from California to Vegas and arrived at 10pm. There wasn’t a line and the woman at the check in desk seemed very nice and friendly. I asked to check in and she asked for my ID and credit card. Of course, did the $20 sandwich trick by saying, “Can you see if there is a complimentary room upgrade available? Preferably a suite?” She nodded and looked on the system for an available upgrade. Unfortunately, since it was mid June, all suites were booked. Instead, she said she could upgrade me to a deluxe room, which has a great view of the strip and Bellagio fountains. Needless to say, it really was a great view and I thoroughly enjoyed the view for 3 nights. She thanked me for the tip.

Tipped:  $50 Upgraded to  None  from  Regular

I tried to get a suite using a $50. They said they can’t upgrade to a suite. They could only give me a better view. They would have taken $20 to get a view upgrade.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Standard king w/view  from  Standard King

Sandwiched $20 bill between cc and dl, handed it to clerk. she took the money and said she could upgrade us to a smoking room with a view. Ended up charging me $40 more for the upgrade even after the $20 tip. Not worth it.

Tipped:  $0 Upgraded to  2 queen bed with the Bellagio Fountain view  from  regular

This was my first time in Vegas and here for my 4th Annibersary. I checked in at 9pm on Saturday.
I was greeted by a very nice lady, we chit chated as she looked up my reservation. I had the $20 dollar sandwish on the counter and asked her for a good view room or possibly a suite. She informed me that all suites are booked but she can get me in a room with the full view of the Strip and the Fountains/Eiffel Tower.
I offered her the sandwish but she gave me back the $20 and said Happy anniversary. I tried to give her the money but she told me to buy the wife drinks with that $20. very nice lady and the room was awesome!!!!!!!!!

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  King Suite  from  Standard double

Slipped the clerk the $20 between my ID and CC and asked if a complimentary upgrade was available. She started typing and asked if I was looking for a view. I told her sure, but a suite would be nice. She said no problem and put us on the top floor in a suite with large living/dining room, 1-1/2 baths, a jacuzzi tub and large walk in shower. Both the large bathroom and living room has a great view of the Bellagio fountains and south strip.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Same  from  Double

Did the drill and the front desk lady immediately informed me that she would check, but thought they were out of suites. Low and behold, they were out, but she was definitely willing to upgrade. She did give us our originally reserved room with a super nice view and returned the tip.

Long story short, if they weren’t completely booked, I would have gotten the upgrade.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  King Suite  from  King

Slipped the clerk the $20 between the ID and CC, and asked if any complimentary upgrades were available. She asked if we were wanting something “with a view”? I replied that a Suite would be great. She hooked us right up. Beautiful and spacious room. A HUGE SUCCESS!

Tipped:  $50 Upgraded to    from  King

Checked in around 1130pm on Sunday night, August 3rd. Clerk seemed a little frazzled as I approached the counter. I put down my ID and CC, along with a nice crisp $50 bill. I asked if there were any complimentary upgrades, and she looked at me for a moment and said that only the casino hosts could offer upgrades. She continued processing my check-in, and I took the $50 back. After a few more moments, she asked what I had wanted to do with the $50…so I just said, “If you can put me into a suite, that $50 is for you!” Well, it finally seemed to click and she quickly tried to find a suite. Told me everything was taken. I thanked her for checking and gave her a $10. I guess it’s all in the timing.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  King Suite  from  Deluxe King

Just slipped the $20 between the ID and CC and asked and received a very nice (if a bit dated) suite with 2 bathrooms, jaccuzi tub, nice sized shower, king bed and 2 couches big enough to sleep on.

Because I had others staying in town too, we requested a rollaway (only allowed 1) and slept 5 in the suite no problem.
