Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Standard Room  from  Standard Room

I arrived at Flamingo early on a Tuesday morning but they were very busy. I was comped for the 3 nights we were staying, so I wasn’t sure how that was going to play into the upgrade. I didn’t see one person I thought would go for it, but I wasn’t backing down from a challenge. I tried to be as friendly as possible and told the clerk I had heard nice things about the GO Room and wondered if there were any upgrades available. She said it was normally $50/night in the better tower, but she would give it to us for $25/night. We accepted and I didn’t give her the $20.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  mini-suite  from  standard

Clerk gave us a mini-suite with no problems at all. GO rooms were ‘untouchable’ that week as they were very busy. Very professional and would definitely try this again.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  executive suite . .top floor  from  regular

Arrived before the regular check in time so see of room was ready. Asked clerk if there were any “upgrades” available, as I passed him a $20 with my ID. He did some stuff on the computer, made a phone call and gave me my key. The room was executive suite on the top floor. Very nice room, almost twice the size of a normal room. Very well worth the tip!!!!

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Exec. Suite  from  Standard

Checked into airport desk. slid 20 – upgraded to exec. suite. – no differance than a regular room – just had added couch. My recommendation – ask for a “go room” instead – Apon check out at hotel – male clerk told me that airport clerk made a mistake and should not have upgraded and he was going to have to charge me the differance. I told him she did it for our “anniversary” and there is no way he is charging me after the fact. – he said she is not allow to do that. Is he just pissed off he didn’t get any of the “tip”???

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Executive  from  Deluxe

Firstly I stumbled onto this site, GREAT TIPS! Our first try. Didn’t expect anything since hotel was sold out per website. Obviously 7-07-07 has significance in Vegas! Put the cards on the counter with the $20 visable. She didn’t even bat an eye, started typing away. We arrived at 2:00 and used airport checkin, there was no line. She put us on the 27th floor, excutive room. I was hoping for a Go room or suite but considering there was no vacancy, I’m happy for our first attempt. Can’t wait to try it again.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  EXECUTIVE  from  DELUXE

I APPLIED THE $20 BETWEEN THE CREDIT CARD AND DRIVERS LICENSE. I WAS CHECKING INTO THE HOTEL AT AROUND 9PM. I ASKED THE CLERK FOR A POSSIBLE UPGRAGDE IN HOPES OF A WINDOW VIEW, AND HIGHER FLOOR. SHE TOLD ME SHE WOULD CHECK, SHE QUICKLY RESPONDED WITH AN UPGRADE TO AN EXECUTIVE ROOM WITH THE VIEW OF THE STRIP, CEASERS FOUNTAINS WERE RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET ( GREAT VIEW) HAD IT BEEN 30 YEARS AGO I WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO SEE EVIL KENIVEL JUMP THE FOUNTAINS FROM MY ROOM WITH NO HASSLE. ( THERE WAS ONE SLIGHT PROBLEM AS WHEN I GOT IN THE ROOM , WE REALIZED THE BATHROOM WAS NOT OPERATING PROPERLY) I SIMPLY ASKED FOR THE SAME TYPE ROOM AND THE CLERK PUT ME IN A ROOM ON THE 11TH FLOOR WITH THE SAME VIEW. I WAS VERY SATISFIED..

There was a moderate line at check-in, decided to sign up for total rewards to get a “shorter line”; by the time i got back, the line was just as long. I just knew it wasn’t my day. Slipped the twenty between the ID and CC, the twenty fell out and I pounced to ask for an upgrade…. that will be $40 extra for the GO room (remodeled with plasma), she had the cheek to say she was giving me a discount from $50. I then just asked to be put in a room with the Bellagio Fountain View. To my dismay when I arrived at the room, she put me at the right corner but the view was blocked by the BillsLasVegas Casino (you would think 15 floor up would be good enough with Bill’s being only like 3 stories high). In any case, a disappointing use of $20.

A couple of tidbits with regards to some discount promos:
1. If you want to sign up for total rewards, you might want to sign up at Paris, they were offering a free eiffel tower ride.
2. the flamingo gives you a couple of hurrah’s coupons upon checkin – $5offbuffet, $20offGeorge Wallace etc.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Deluxe Suite  from  Deluxe (Flamingo's Standard)

First, thanks very much for your site. Reserved a 4-night stay Sat-Tues. Checked in approx. 5.00 PM. Did the $20 sandwich and told her I was hoping she may have something in a complimentary upgrade. She took the D/L and CC and placed them on her keyboard. She unfolded the $20 and placed it right on top of the counter and said she would see what she could do. She did some checking and told me that a comp upgrade for 4 nights was difficult because of sold out dates during my stay. She offered “Go Room” for a fee. Told her we were just interested in a comp upgrade and mentioned that we were celebrating. (Celebrating a free upgrade, hopefully.) She did some more checking and offered a Deluxe Suite for Sat night but I would have to swicth to a standard (“deluxe”) room for the other 3 nights. I asked if the suite was nice. She said we would be pleased. She said that a number of these particular suites are held by casino ops for high rollers w/o reservations and she needed to get permission to put me in there. As it was late in the day, the number of unexpected high rollers was dwindling and she believed she could get an OK. She went in the back and came out with the good news. We were on the 27th floor (28 is the highest floor) with a huge living room. Floor to ceiling windows, an L-shaped couch that would seat 6 people, huge coffee table with 2 additional easy chairs and very large screen TV. Also had a small dining table with 3 chairs, huge granite wet bar with refrig, separate icemaker, and 3 bar stools, 2 bathrooms (one had a large fully tiled stall shower with a built-in seat; the other a large jacuzzi tub. We had to move for the rest of the trip but the one night was so worth $20 I would do it again in a heartbeat. BTW, Flamingo “Go Pool” was a blast; great people, tasty cocktails, sun, water, oh, and those topless free spirited ladies. I can’t wait to go back. Thanks again – You guys Rock !!

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  High floor, strip view  from  Run of House

Checked in at the Flamingo on a Monday evening, using a two day comped room from a relative. Sandwiched a $20 between my credit card and driver’s license and requested a GO room. After some searching the clerk stated that there were none available. I took the $20 back and a few seconds later the clerk said she’d see what else was available. She ended up saying that we could get a high floor, strip view room, which was fine for me for a first front desk tip attempt.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Great View Bellagio Fountains/Strip  from  Standard Delux

I checked in way early–10AM. Did the trick to the tee. The young woman did look to see what was available and said due to the fact that so many people had not yet checked out, there wasn’t much available. She did manage to get me a great view room and did return my $20.00 She was very pleasent and I gave her $5.00 just for her effort.
