We arrived at 2 PM & the reservation lines were packed. Didn’t really have a choice as to which clerk we would get.

Saved:  $$500 Tipped:  $40 Upgraded to  Augustus Tower Deluxe  from  Forum Tower Deluxe

Arrived after midnight and there was a small line for check in. There were kiosks for quick check in as well as online checkin but we opted to talk to a front desk agent. There was only one agent attending to the line without any membership. I gave her $40 sandwich without saying anything and she put it aside and already said I’ll see what I can do for you without me asking. She upgraded us to the Augustus Tower overlooking the Bellagio Fountains. It seemed like normal practice and thankfully we tried!

Saved:  $$5,000 Tipped:  $100 Upgraded to  Caesars Executives Suites  from  Augustus Tower Deluxe

Checked in around 10 p.m. on a Tuesday night. Our flight from Dallas had been delayed three hours and we had missed a dinner reservation. Needless to say, we were pretty tired – but the front desk clerk made quick to cheer us up.

Walked up to the counter and presented her with the sandwich – credit card, $100 bill and ID. Her eyes immediately lit up and she started typing away at her keyboard. She eventually said “hold on, I’m going to go speak with our inventory manager.”

She left for about 15 minutes, came back and said she needed to speak to the supervisor. After another 15 minutes she came back, broke out a book of Caesar’s rooms and showed me where we were staying – the Augustus Spa Suite on the 40th floor overlooking the north end of the strip.

1,200 square feet with two bathrooms, a walk in shower, jacuzzi tub overlooking the north end of the Strip and double vanities. Ridiculous upgrade. On Friday and Saturday this room goes for $1,200 a night.

Saved:  $$312 Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Caesars Executives Suites  from  Forum Tower Deluxe

Arrived at hotel at 10pm. Took about an hour to get through line to clerk. Clerk was very professional. Upon immediate ask for CC, I ask if there was any complementary upgrades with a $20 sandwich. She said she would check. Went behind the wall check in wall and came back with a YES. Went from $119 night room to a $275 night room.

Wife and I were in vegas celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary.. We booked 2 nights for the cheapest room available of a total of $180.
We checked in around 3pm at the diamond line. They were two people infront of me and there were three workers working the front desk.
Two female’s one in her 60’s and the other in early 30’s, and one male in his late 30’s who I was hoping to get to check us in. Luckily we got the male!! Like majority of everyone who tried the sandwich i was really nervous.. the man greeted me and asked for my id and credit card.. I slipped the $20 between the two.. The man notice the $20 placed next to his keyboard and said thank you and let me see what i can do for you.. I nervously asked i was interested an comp upgrade and was looking for a fountain view. He replied let me see what i can do.. He gave us a room on the 3rd highest floor in the August Tower corner room with a view of the strip and fountain.
The room was huge probably just under 1,000sf!! it seemed a bit outdated though but the view of the strip and fountain was what i wanted, so I am happy and definitely will be doing the sandwich trick again!!

Saved:  $$2700.00 Tipped:  $40 Upgraded to  Unsure  from  Roman Tower Room

I didn’t get to pick a particular clerk as it was after 1:30am and there were only 3 clerks and we waited in line almost 2 hours.

The clerk I had at check-in asked how I was and how I was enjoying Vegas so far.
I gave him my credit card, drivers license and $40.00. I told him my trip to Vegas was terrible so far after spending 16 hours in airports and flying. I then said it was up to him to make me want to return to Vegas as so far I was never coming back and I’ve always loved Vegas.

He upgraded us to a Augustus Jacuzzi Suite on the 28th floor at the end of the hall so we’d have a panoramic view of the strip in both directions.

I initially booked a deluxe room for $90.00 a night and this room was a $1,000.00 a night! The room was spectacular and every Caesars employee I dealt with were exceptional while there. We enjoyed our suite.

We checked in on a Wednesday afternoon and it was busy. We usually don’t target a clerk, but we got lucky. A gentleman by the name of Bryan called us over and we handed him the sandwich. He spread out the ID’s and card and the folded $50 and began to type and asked us to hold a moment while he checked with inventory. We waited about 5 minutes and he apologized several times during the wait. Obviously not a problem when we’re looking for an upgrade.. He got off the phone and explained that the upgrade was two tiers higher than what we had booked and gave us a much larger suite with a view of the Bellagio fountains. For having a partially comp’d room to start with due to rewards, we were very happy with the upgrade.

I arrived just shy of 5PM on a Tuesday to the hotel lobby. I did not get in line just yet as I was scoping the front desk clerks that were taking care of the Platinum Card line (my card level w/ Total Rewards). There was one man that looked like a manager, another man who didnt look too thrilled to be there, and a nice looking young lady (maybe my age – in her late twenties). I decided to shoot for her. Since there was no line, I waited until she was available then jumped in the Platinum Card line. She called me up next! I had two $20’s folded between my ID and credit card. This girl must have been working there for a while because she knew EXACTLY what was up when she saw the money (I made sure I feathered the two bills to be sure she knew there were two $20’s, not just one). I was staying for three nights (all comp), so I figured it would be a bit of a stretch to get the exact room I wanted without being super pushy (Augustus Tower w/ strip view); thus, I did $40 and not $20 (also to help increase my chances). She placed the money immediately to the side upon seeing it and said “based on your card level, I can’t take it just yet, so I’ll put it aside until we’ve completed your check-in and that you are completely satisfied with my service.” I didn’t even ask if she had complimentary upgrades, she had already jumped on board, wanting to do it. She offered the Junior Suite in the same Palace tower I booked, but she also said to herself within earshot “Maybe I have something in the Augustus Tower.” I got a poopy view of the parking garage on my last stay in Vegas (@Harrah’s before I found out about the sandwich trick). I let her know I was most interested in staying in the Augustus Tower, and if not too much trouble, maybe with a strip view. She managed to get me the Augustus Tower with Bellagio Fountain View! She was very pleasant for the entire transaction and I appreciated her effort in getting us the room I was shooting for. To make this even sweeter, I was given an email two days prior asking if I wanted to upgrade to that same room for $61/night (meaning pay over $180 before tax to upgrade my comp room). Best gamble I ever did in Vegas!

There was a long line, so I had no idea which clerk I was going to get. I ended up getting a clerk around 2:45 p.m. He was a nice young man, and I was hopeful this was going to work! After exchanging greetings, I gave him my ID, $30, and my card all sandwiched together in a nice stack. I simply said, “I was wondering if I was eligible for any complimentary upgrades.” I made sure I didn’t say it too loudly, though. He saw the cash and said, “Gotcha. I’ll see what I can do.” After a few moments, he upgraded my room to a nicely renovated Palace Tower room. It really was that easy, and you should definitely try this!

Saved:  $$100 Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Augustus Tower Deluxe  from  Octavius Tower Deluxe

Got comp for 5 nights. Walked up to first available agent, presented w $20 sandwich, asked for renovated room w fountain view, and got a room in Augusta tower. In terms of towers, Augusta is probably best, then Palace tower, then Octavius, and then Forum last. The room was very decent size, fairly well kept, and the fountain view was great. It was $20 well spent for 5 nights, no resort fees either!

I usually do the $20 sandwich every time I’m in Vegas. Since I went during a slow weekend and had a comped room, I figured I would try $40. I handed the 25-ish gentleman my card and ID with the money in between. He saw it, said ‘Thank you’ and asked me what I was looking for. I asked him if he had a room on a high floor with a large soaking tub in the Octavius or Augustus tower . He said he had the perfect room. He told us that we were one floor from the top (44th floor) of the Augustus Tower with a strip view. The room was incredible and had a view of the Bellagio fountains.
