Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Brand New Renovated KING room  from  Deluxe Room - No View

I was travelling with my husband, my sister and brother-in-law. I called a few days ahead to inquire about what room I had booked, so I new what I already had. I had familiarized myself with the various room’s and what each possible view was. I asked at that time if there was any room upgrades avail as we were celebrating 2 birthdays……..he replied sure for 50 bucks a night you can. I declined…….but asked him to note the bdays on my file….
Arrived at Bellagio Nov 3/11 at approx 1030am no lines for check in so I had the luxury of picking any agent I wanted! I picked a really NICE looking girl (compared to a few others that looked like they were ready to hit a club, rather than work the desk) she was all smiles (as I was also) my brother-in-law and I approached the desk and we both handed her our “sandwiches” and remarked at how happy we were to be at the Bellagio…..blah blah small talk…….by the way aer there any complimentary upgrades??
Well she saw/removed the $20 bill each of us had provided and she went to work! She was on that keyboard like crazy – as you have to snag rooms fast before someone else does. She offered us a few choices……each better than the next. I finally settled on a big brand newly renovated KING room which was 10x better than the old one I would have gotten, plus I go the pool view (keep in mind this was during the SEMA convention and the hotel was 98% full) My brother-in-law scored the same type room on the same floor (which we were hoping for) just not the great pool view I had……….all in all I believe I scored great and would reccommend this trick to anyone! (Also freely asked hotel conceirge for any deals to Absinthe show and received $20 bucks off per ticket) no sandwich offered.
Vegas expects you to ask – otherwise they certainly won’t be offering it.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Spa Tower Suite + Line Pass  from  Bellagio Suite

Tried the trick twice while we were there for 3 nights. First time on initial check-in… used a 20 between ID and credit card. Was upgraded to a suite in the newer Spa Tower. Nice suite but only a view of the highway. Second night while asking for a room change… used a 20 again. Different guy in his 20’s kind of grinned and shook his head disapprovingly. We got a pool view suite and he gave the 20 back. Oh well… righteous man with empty pockets i guess…

Tipped:  $50 Upgraded to  Tower Deluxe King Room  from  Deluxe Room

i thought long and hard about what i was going to say to get an upgrade, read loads of reviews, planed out what i was going to say…when i got there i battled it just handed over $50 and asked if there where any complimentary upgrades, by luck she made a phone call and said yes there is a Tower Deluxe King Room available, i was happesed at this point, went starit up to the room (Located on floors 4-28 and 626 square feet) what can i say perfect…They include all attributes of the deluxe rooms, as well as upgraded features such as larger bathrooms with double sink vanities; whirlpool tubs and separates water closet. These rooms are end rooms with panoramic views. There is a large window situated above the tub that affords a view while bathing.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  spa tower  from  cheapest

Checked in around 10-11pm on a Friday night during rodeo time (busy weekend). Got a nice 40-ish lady. Handed her the sandwich with a $100 inside. She promptly took the hundred, placed it on her counter, and said, “what did you have in mind?”. I replied “cypress”, she replied that would be difficult. Typed away for a bit, responded she had nothing. I replied, I’ll take something without a view. Some more typing, “sorry, if I could give you something nice, I would, but I have nothing”. She returned the $100. Then stated, what I might be able to do is a connecting room to one of the suites. I tipped her a $20. Put me in the spa tower, on a high suite floor, with fountain view. Unfortunately, it was non-smoking. One call to the front desk later, I am put in a normal spa room, mountain view. I guess the spa tower may be considered an upgrade from the normal tower, but the nicer room is negated by the long walk to the elevators.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  The Cypress suite  from  the lakeview

We already had reservations for three days at the Bellagio in one of their Lakeview rooms. Well as we checked in I had put a twenty dollar bill between my credit card and my drivers licence. Now as the clerk took it I also mentioned it was our 40th. anniversary and that is why we picked the Bellagio. I then asked by chance if there were any upgrades to a more deluxe room. The clerk smiled and typed on her computer and then asked my wife (with a smile ) if I had been a good husband for all those years. My wife smiled back and said WELL MOST OF THE TIME. The clerk then gave my wife the envelope with the door passes and said I AM SURE YOU WILL LIKE THIS ROOM. Well we had no idea what to expect until we found the room numbers on this door that read Cypress Suite . IT WAS BIG AND BOY WAS IT BEAUTIFUL. The best part was that we had a hugh front window that went from the left side all the way down to the right sie and we had a panoramic view of the strip . It was well worth the extra twenty dollars I gave her.

Tipped:  $100 Upgraded to  Penthouse  from  Deluxe

I found a lovely young woman at the front desk that looked willing to play the game. I offered her the 100 dollar bill and asked if there were any penthouse suites available. She giggled and said that the only person that could approve that would be some woman in the back named Claire. I pleaded if she could just please ask for me and she did. Moments later she came back with the great news that she was able to get the penthouse. Sometimes it just takes a little persistance and a 100 dollar bill.

Tipped:  $100 Upgraded to  salone suite with fountain view  from  basic room no fountain view

My wife reserved a basic room for our stay at the Bellagio online ($159 to $199/night). My wife then told me to read this website about tipping the front desk clerk. I said “what the heck.” We were staying 3 nights. I looked for a younger male clerk. I placed a $100 bill between my license and credit card. I told him it was our 10th year wedding anniversary (which it was) and asked him if he could upgrade us to a suite with a fountain view so that I could surprise my wife. He looked at the bill and then said that he found a suite with a water view. We went to the room and it was a salone suite which was 800+ square feet with two windows in the main room (one looking out to the fountains and the other looking down the strip). The third window was in the bathroom looking down the strip too. It was the best $100 that I have ever spent. The room was grand. My wife and I turned the two chairs around and watched the fountain show (many times)with the TV turned to channel 22. The salone suites are at the end of the hallway—a long walk but worth it as you only had one neighbor. The Bellagio was great. The weather was HOT.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Resort King room - corner - high floor - pool view  from  Standard room - Spa Tower

The 2 of us arrived at hotel around 2pm on a Friday. It was moderately busy but we didn’t have to wait long to check in. We were helped by a young Hispanic woman. I gave her the “sandwich” and right away she said “Oh I see you’re looking for an upgrade today”. I quietly acknowledged and she said the Fountain View rooms were sold out, but we could be upgraded to the newly remodeled King corner room with pool views. We accepted and couldn’t have been happier! Huge remodeled room with pool views from the living area and desert/mountain views from the bathroom. Can’t wait to try again in a few months. Also, this trip was booked for 4 nights using a 3 night comped offer. Was really skeptical that this would work on free nights but it did!

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  n/a  from  Salone Suite

Young male, late 20’s, very nice, very friendly. 5 pm Thursday 6/21/12. My wife handed the clerk Cr. card, license and a $50 since we had 2 rooms on the reservation. My wife asked for an upgrade to Salone lake view. He tried really, really hard to find any upgrade he could but couldn’t unless we wanted to move rooms mid-trip. We didn’t want to do that so we accepted comped buffet passes instead. Which, if you think about it, the buffet at the Bellagio is quite pricey so those comps. were worth it. We’ll try the $20 sandwich again this fall.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Tower Lake View  from  Deluxe Lake View

I checked in on a busy Sunday AM and had booked a Deluxe Lake view room. I slipped the guy a $20 between my DL and CC and asked if the had any complimentary upgrades. He didnt skip a beat and started looking through is computer. I was hoping to get a Bellagio Suite or better but only got a Tower King Lake View. It was ACM weekend so that may have had something to do with it. All in all i think it was worth the upgrade. Had great views of the strip from windows on each side of my room and another from the large upgraded bathroom. Worth the $20. I tried this at Encore and didnt work but i think they are known for that. Will try again.
