Just went to first clerk. Was friendly and asked for complimentary upgrade. She was only able to waive fee for early check in and I kindly declined and she asked me to come back in 2 hours after all rooms were cleaned. She said don’t stand in line, just come back to her. She then gave us a great upgrade.
We actually got comped for one room and got the players discount for the other on our reservation with a casino host.
My first time trying the sandwhich, we got in at around 11pm, the normal line was long, but the MLife players club was only 3 deep. The woman behind the desk was great, took the money very subtley and proceeded to work and work to find the right upgrade, even calling another agent for help at one point. There were 4 of us booked, so she was trying to get us 4 beds, but with the couch etc, we just took the Single King premier and that was that. Great room, literally cost us $300 for the weekend w/ the comps, and I’m not a big high roller. I promise.
I arrived around 6pm on Friday. The line was long so i didn’t really target anyone. When I was next I actually was on the phone and I handed the clerk my ID and my Card with a $20 in between, didn’t say one word to her, 1 minute later when I was off the phone she just stated as far as upgraded she can give me a Pyramid Suite. I took it. She then asked what the $20 was for and I replied, for the upgrade. She stated its mandatory to ask. I honestly did not think it was gonna work, glad I tried!
– Which clerk did you target and why?
I was called in by a random clerk in her twenties.
– What time/day was it?
Saturday at 4:30pm.
– What did you say to get upgraded?
Upon being called up, I greeted the clerk with a warm smile and told her I was checking in. She asked me for my ID & CC and I asked \”I was wondering if you had any complimentary upgrades available\”. She saw the $20 bill and said \”Let me check that for you\”. We made small talk about the weather and she upgraded me from the most basic room to a suite with a hot tub (which we overflowed later that night, but that\’s another story).
I booked 2 rooms & asked for free buffets and was given 4. Checked in with the $20 & asked if upgrades were available. We were given strip view suites for $35 additional/night. I told her we were there for 2 birthdays & was told to see her Wednesday & she would comp 5 more buffets. I could not find her on Wednesday, so I bought 5 all day buffets & mentioned this at check-out & they took them off my bill! The Craps table was ROCKIN! Go there for the late shift. Rent a car for the Hoover dam & Grand Canyon. Uber to Freemont St!!! WILD!
Handed the clerk the $20, they went in the back room and checked something and came back and said yes they did have other rooms available. We were upgraded for the 4 days we were staying in Las Vegas. All of the staff at Luxor were customer service orientated through our stay there.
No target, just randomly choose one, and tell him i want to upgrade. At first, he did it for me without looking at the sandwich i made, but later i told him to look at that, and he found it and express his appreciation.
Checked in around 4:30 on a Friday. Line was long, it was pretty busy. When clerks were free, a manager was pointing to the guest to the next available clerk.
I walked up to the lady behind the counter. I said “Hi, I’m checking in” and the friendly staff member asked for my ID and Credit Card. As I was handing it to her with the $20 sandwiched between the 2 cards I said “also, I was wondering if you had any complimentary upgrades available?” She responded by saying something along the lines of “let me check for you”.
Then we proceeded with small talk: “what brings you here, etc.”. It was also my birthday, so that may have helped as to why I also got the upgrade. I also requested for a later check out, but she explicitly said there’s a charge for that.
I reserved a Run of the House room through the Luxor website, and got upgraded to a to a Tower Deluxe Room.
me and my friend went to the girl at front desk (at 7PM) and both of us used the $20 sandwich trick and she said one minute, went inside and came back and gave the upgrade and also said $10.95 daily usage fees is also waived. we stayed 3 nights, so saving were over $200 for each of us. Thanks for tip,.
I had reserved a one night stay in a Pyramid room with two queen beds on the Mlife website for my dad and I, celebrating his birthday. We checked in on Saturday at 11:30 am, having paid extra for an early check in and late check out. I had to take the first clerk available, a shorter woman in her mid 20s. She asked if i was checking out, and I let her know I paid for an early check in. I handed her my ID and CC. Instead of hiding the $50, I placed it on the counter and said “This is for you. I’d really appreciate anything you can do for us.” She thanked me for the tip, and said that she was going to upgrade me to a renovated tower room with two queen beds, and also give us two comped buffets. She was helpful and gave us a map of the property. She put a note guaranteeing our late check out and comped dinner on file and thanked me again for the tip. The Luxor dinner buffet was a little gross, I’m glad that it was comped.
