Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  North Tower Deluxe   from  South Tower Classic

There was just one large line when we arrived so we weren’t able to target a particular clerk. We ended up with a clerk of Asian decent who greeted us friendly. I approached cheerfully and wished her a happy Valentine’s Day. As I handed my ID and card with the $20 I asked if there were any comp upgrades available. She offered a North Tower deluxe with strip view (albeit a limited strip view based on how the North Tower sits) She told us to come back down and see her if we weren’t happy, but it wasn’t necessary.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  south tower celebrity suite  from  north tower classic

I used the platinum check in line because I am currently a platinum member and it was about 2am in the morning on Saturday because we had a wedding Friday night and drove straight to Vegas after. I had booked a comp room in the north tower and gave her $20 between my rewards card and ID and she already knew to check for a comp room and told her we were there for a late celebration for my birthday and she gave us South Tower Celebrity Suite.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Grand Suite  from  Classic

My Girlfriend and I flew in at 9pm on Friday night. We were there until Monday night. We got to Bally’s at 10pm after getting our bags and a BS cab ride along the freeway. There was a line of about 10-15 people and 5 clerks working. I had no way of targeting which person called us up. I placed the $20 between my ID and credit card, with a sliver sticking out so whomever got it would know. We were waved over by an older woman with short hair. I gave her the sandwich and asked her “if there were any complementary room upgrades available.” She immediately took out the $20 and put it under the counter, and she said “lets see what we can do for you.” After 10 min of her clicking the keys and small talk about us being there for our 30th birthdays, she gave us our room key’s and said i hope this will be ok for you. Please let me know if you do not approve of this. 15th Floor room with a Jacuzzi tub, King bed and a view of the Bellagio’s Fountains for $20 more? I approve!!! My GF was super nervous and I was 100% confident this would work and it did. Everyone should try this when they go to Vegas!

Tipped:  $40 Upgraded to  grand suite south tower  from  15th floor North tower standard room

Went to Vegas with my wife for our 21 st wedding aniversary. Checked in on Mothers Day at 11:am . Was directed to a young man in his early 20,s. Told him it was our first trip to vegas and was our anniversary and heard good things about Ballys. He said that our room on the 15th floor was ready and asked me for my id. I put my id on the counter with 2 twentys visible to him and kept my hand on it. I asked if there was any complimentary room upgrades . He said sure and I took my hand off the id and he took it with the 2 twentys. he upgraded us to a Jr suite in the north tower. We get to the room and the shower was not working well and the ironing board is broke and the view was not to good. I went back down to the lobby and talked to the person who checked us in and said we were a little disappointed with the room. he said no problem and printed out 2 keys to another room for us to check out. It was basically the same room. We went back down and said that we will keep our room and just to get us an ironing board that works. He said he would check again and printed out 2 new keys to a room on the 22 fl. We checke it out and it was awesome. 3 times the size of the JR suite. Great viw of the strip. Upgraded to a grand suite. So in retrospect not sure if it was the complaint or the tip that got us the upgrade. But I dont think the tip hurt.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Junior Suite  from  Comp Room from TotalRewards

My wife got 4 nights for free from TotalRewards and we just testing out Bally’s. First time using this $20 sandwich trick. We checked in late around 8pm, there was no line so we just go to the first available clerk. She was nice, I give her my ID card with $20 in between. She upgrade us to a Junior Suite, I was trying to get a room with Jacuzzi but she as for a extra $30/night. We declined and just get the Junior suite. Very nice room considering it was free for 4 nights 🙂 Average $5/night….not bad! Will try this trick again with Planet Hollywood and Imperial Palace next time visiting Vegas in May. Can’t wait. Hopefully I can get a Fountain View at PH with $50 sandwich. Will let y’all know!

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  North Tower Deluxe  from  South Tower Classic

Originally booked the reservation on the phone with Bally’s directly, based on a mail offer. I haven’t used my Total Rewards Card for a few years, so was surprised at the great deal–I didn’t have any points (they expire every 6 months, I think). Ended up booking 5 nights in the South Tower for $424.00–that included a Friday and Saturday night stay at $140 per night, then two nights at $37 and one at $45.

Arrived at the hotel at 3:00 p.m. on a Saturday. Only about 4 parties in line ahead of me, and about 5 or 6 front desk staff working. Was called over by a male clerk, upper 20s, Asian. He asked for my last name as I was getting my card/driver’s license out. I handed it to him with the $20 bill in between, and he put them on the counter. When he saw the $20, he looked up and said, “Is this for me?” I said, “I’m wondering if you have any complimentary upgrades available.” He quickly said, “Thank you” and pulled the $20 and put it down below the counter. Then he started pecking away on the computer like superman. I commented to my partner–“Wow this guy is superfast. Look at him work that keyboard!” We were moved from a South Tower classic room to the 24th floor North Tower Deluxe Room. We also received a coupon book that is offered as part of a “Spa Package” —lots of great deals: 20% off spa services, free bottles of wine with dinner at a few places, etc.

Before we left home I received an email from Bally’s offering us an upgraded room for $10 per night. Using the $20 trick, I got an upgrade for $4 per night–that’s 40% of what it would have cost.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Penthouse!  from  Standard Room

It was about 1:30 in the morning, and there was only 1 female clerk available. I handed her the sandwich and told her we were here to celebrate my friends birthday. A phone call and a trip to the back.. she comes out and gives us a PENTHOUSE! Turns out that the penthouses are not availble to the public, so that made it that much better!! Best $20 I’ve spent!

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  North Tower Grand Suite  from  Classic

Booked the room via Expedia.. Chose the cheapest room available.. I had tried this trick at Hilton and it worked so I had planned all along to try at Bally’s.. Checked in on a Tuesday about 11pm..Nascar weekend coming mind you.. Handed her my CC and ID with the 20 in between and asked for any upgrades. She said sure how about the 25th floor in the North tower. I was’nt sure how many floors they had so did’nt really mean anything to me at the time..Got to the 25th floor the top floor and started walking to the room..Come to find out it was the last room on the hallway 2597.. Opened the door and it looked basic from the entryway but as we turned the corner it was’nt just any room..We had the North Tower King suite with a king size bed with a couch then looked to the right and had a Jacuzzi tub with his n hers vanity stand up shower single toilet and a badai..We had a balcony but it was locked up but still had a great view thru the large sliding glass windows..It’s a 350 dollar a night room.. I paid 260 including my 20 tip for the whole stay of 4 nights..So for my 20 bucks it was well worth it.. Thanks FDT.com

Tipped:  $50 Upgraded to  North Tower Suite  from  South Tower Classic

We just got back from a 4 night stay in Vegas at Bally’s. I told my wife about tipping the front desk clerk for a better room and she was very nervous about it. We’re standing in line and I looked at the various clerks available and saw the african american male who was outgoing now we were just hoping to get to him as there were 6 clearks working. Our turn to check in, we stroll casually up to the counter and supply the $50 underneath my license and asked simply if there were any complimentary room upgrades available with a view of the strip, as we are celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary tuesday. He looks down at the sandwich and smiles tells me let’s see what we can do. He types for a few minutes walks away to talk to another employee(Manager?)and TA DA a SUITE over looking the PARIS Pool, Eiffel Tower, Bellagio Fountains WOW complete with his/her sinks, jacuzzi right off the living area/bedroom and just a lot of room for $50!!! The best part was his kindness he shook our hands and stated if there is anything at anytime during your stay you need you come see me directly I am here until 3:30 everyday! OUTSTANDING 20TH ANNIVERSARY!
