Checked in on a Friday at 6pm. Got upgrade to suite room and they sent free champagne to room. Told clerk it was birthday weekend and asked for any complementary upgrades. Had $20 under ID as soon as I walked up to desk. Very helpful.
I did the $20 sandwich and was upgraded from the Tower Suite to the Luxury Suite on the 36th floor with a killer view of the strip. I was also comped resort fees and received a handful of 2 for 1 drinks plus a bunch of other coupons.
Tipped $20 at around noon on a Friday and received the following perks:
Early Check-In
Strip View
Joint-Rooms (we had two rooms booked)
2 Bottles of Champagne
Coupons for Drinks
This is the second time I tried this strategy at this strip and I was more than satisfied!
So, we where qued up ready to be seen at the front desk and got called forward when a new deck was opened just for us. We are staying for a week so thought we would upgrade the tip to $50. I handed over the sandwich and asked if there where any complmentry upgrades and the guy (assistant manager) said he could see what he could do. While he was doing his magic we chatted away to him about our trip and what we do for work back home. After a minute or so he gave us a few room opinions and we picked one that suited us. A corner veiw room of the strip with 2 windows on the 32 floor. Because it was a corner room it is also abit bigger. We got a bunch of 2 for 1 tickets for the hotel and we where put on the champagne list for our whole visit.
We had a nice girl, about in her mid 20s. while in the que I overheard her giving a bottle of champagne to a couple checking in, so she seemed nice. As I got to her counter she asked for my last name, confirmed my first name and then asked for some ID and credit card. Handed it over and as soon as she took it the cash fell out So I just bit the bullet and asked if there was any comp upgrades. All she said was ‘I’ll look after you’ and that was it. We did some small talk while she was entering in all the details, where you from etc. She upgraded us to a corner suite on the 21st floor, champagne in the room, heaps of coupons for the buffet and cocktails etc. I paid for the resort fee because I didn’t want to push my luck but seriously the $20 trick worked magic and now we are in a massive corner suite overlooking the strip!
We hope that we get a female clerk as we’ve discovered in the past that they seem to be generous with the upgrades. Sorry guys.
My wife said to the clerk as she was handing her the tip that we were frequent guests at the hotel and the clerk immediately began tapping away at the keyboard. I noticed a wee smile on her face as she saw that we were indeed frequent guests. By frequent I mean at least once a year for several years. We also asked about 2 for 1 coupons and she was very generous with those. We also received a bottle of champagne. A very nice touch and one of may a reason we will continue to stay at the TI every time we travel to LV.
Stayed at the TI several times before and have had 100% success rate with $20 and have been upgraded to the petite suite. This time was no different. Had $30 (bumped it up to see what I could get) via the sandwich method and asked if he could help me out. The guy said sure and just like that he worked his magic and this time I landed a Tower Suite. I was staying from Saturday – Monday and checked in at 1p.m. I had to wait for 3 hours before I could check in because the party that stayed in the room the night before had a late check out. Well worth the wait!
checked in about 11am. Put the $20 between my card and license. Our room was already comped. Got free early check in, late check out and a bottle of bubbly for the $20. The check in/out extensions are normally $30 each.
Walked up to a Male late 20’s handed the Sandwich asked him if there where any upgrades available. He automatically put the $20 in his pocket & said he can get us into a nice Suite with a bottle of Champagne. It was a very nice room great view of the strip room came with a Jacuzzi and the champagne wa good for being free.
Went from run of the house room to strip view on the 35th floor with a complimentary bottle of champagne.
5:30PM, Went to the first available desk clerk.
Put a $20 between the ID and credit card and asked “Are their any complimentary upgrades available?”
