Saved:  $Approx $80/night Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Premium Fountain View  from  Hollywood Hip Room

We checked in around 8 pm on a Sunday. We didn’t target any particular clerk, just went to the next available one. I handed over our $20 sandwich and she began thanking us profusely. I then asked if there were any complementary upgrades available for the time we were there. She said oh yes, let me see what I can get you! We got upgraded from their most basic room to a resort room on the 20th floor facing the Bellagio fountains. Best $20 spent

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Unsure  from  Hollywood Hip Room

I checked in early around 2pm. I can’t remember the clerks name but he was hispanic. Did the sandwich and asked if there were any complimentary upgrades. Clerk said they are allowed to accept tips but can’t make any guarantees and went right to work typing away. He asked if I wanted a view or larger room. I prioritized larger. We needed 2 queens for the 4 in our group. He did find us a strip view on the 11th floor that felt much larger than the pictures of the room I paid for. Overall satisfied.

Saved:  $About $200 Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  PH Resort Vistas  from  Resort Room

I decided that I would give this a try after reading about it and checking it out. I was arriving in early December and checked the Planet Hollywood site, where it seemed like the prices were pretty low so I figured that the hotel would not be too busy. I arrived around noon on a Sunday and there were only a couple of people in line so I was targeting the clerk with the football jersey on (there were only four clerks and only one was wearing a jersey) since I figured I could chat football to find some common ground. As it worked out that did not happen and I ended up with another clerk and everything worked out just fine. I had the sandwich of $25 tucked in between my credit card and driver’s license and walked up to the counter. The clerk put the money aside and we began chatting about why I was in Las Vegas and about family and I did not say a word about the upgrade. He did some typing and a minute later said how would you like a junior suite (Ultra Resort Vista room from Ultra Resort room)? I of course replied that this would be great and Thank You very much and that was that. It was a totally painless experience and I figured that all it would cost me in a worst case scenario was $25. As long as the hotels are not too busy, the chances for getting an upgrade are probably pretty good. Plus, striking up a conversation with the clerk and establishing some common ground also helped. I’m happy that it worked out and would definitely do it again.

Tipped:  $30 Upgraded to  PH Resort Vistas  from  Hollywood Hip Room

Arrived on a fairly calm Thursday afternoon around 3pm. Stood in line instead of using the self-checkin, got directed to a older female clerk. Handed her my ID and CC with $30 on top so she would notice. She asked me after smiling, “looking for an upgrade?”, I said yes and she typed away. After a few clicks she said she can upgrade me to a resort vista or a higher floor room with a view. She insisted the resort vista is a junior suite and is much better so I took her offer. Room was very spacious with complimentary coffee maker and a fridge. Everything in the room was clean and felt new. Would definitely stay here again!

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  PH Resort Vistas  from  Hollywood Hip Room

I checked in at 10am on a Tuesday. The front desk clerk said he needed to ask for the camera if the money was gratuity and I said it was. He gave me a resort vista room which wasn’t a huge upgrade (regularly $60/night+) has a large bathroom and great view of the Bellagio fountains.

Saved:  $$100 Tipped:  $50 Upgraded to  Unsure  from  Deluxe Strip View

Booked a three night stay for one room and a two night stay for another room. Both were booked for the basic two queen rooms.

I stayed Tuesday to Friday night. On Pre-EDC Weekend.

My initial plan was to just have those two adjoined but I wanted to see if I could upgrade both rooms.

I came in around 10 or 11am and slipped a $50 between my credit card and ID. I pretty much just came in friendly and asked if there were any upgrades he could help me out with.

After doing some searching the clerk gave me lots of options as far as what I wanted. He said he could upgrade both my rooms to the resort rooms which were significantly bigger and had a separate shower and tub as well as dual sinks.

I was given the option of having them adjoined as well and given which floors and particular views I would get.

I liked how the agent brought out the pamphlet that showed all their rooms that they offered. I jokingly tried to see if I could get the Boulevard Suite or something better, but seeing how it costed about 5 to 10 times more than my reservation it was a stretch.

Tipped:  $30 Upgraded to  2 Bedroom Premium Panoramic Suite  from  One Bedroom Suite

I am a Las Vegas local and booked a one bedroom suite online at the Planet Hollywood Westgate Tower, now the “Hilton Elara” for my 20th Birthday Party for a Saturday night. I stumbled upon this website a few days before and figured I’d give it a shot.

I arrived at the hotel desk around 6:30 pm on Saturday, there was no lines. The front desk is very long so the clerks are very far from each other so it is very much a one on one situation. Since I could choose my clerk, I did not go through the ropes, I walked right up to the younger female (me being a younger male) and asked to check in a gave a smile. I let her walk me through the process of asking for my information, and waited for her to ask me for my ID and credit card.

When I handed her my previously prepared sandwich she almost immediately noticed the $20 bill and her whole attitude changed. She became a little more serious, or business like as compared to a cheery welcoming type. I simply said the phrase “I was wondering if any complimentary upgrades are available” when she noticed the 20. I let her lead the rest.

She said almost immediately “Let me see what I can do” ( I knew the deal was done by her new attitude) and started typing. While looking down at the keyboard asked me what I was looking for and I told her that I was celebrating a friends 21st and was hoping to get a bigger room, even if I had to pay a little bit. She went on to say “Well, you are here for only one night.. soo it will be ok if I give you this room” She went on to say she was going to give me the 2 bedroom penthouse, and describing how it was a really cool room and how much money I was saving (which was about $500). At this point I could tell she was trying to just show how much she was helping me out so I got another $10 out to give her when she handed me my Id and CC back. We exchanged a few words and I said thank you and I was on my way.

the room was amazing, end of the hall, completely panoramic view.. all glass across the room. Amazing view of city center. It was perfect for my party, which turned out way bigger than expected so I needed the extra space. The security guards at the elevator also didnt seem to mind when we had brought up many times groups of 10-15 people. We did switch up who was bringing people up, however.

The security only came up once during the party and was very cool and just asked that we take it down just a tiny bit so no one complains, but made it evident that he “wasnt tripping about the party”

Overall, the trick worked awesome!! The room was amazing, and so was the party. Made my weekend!

Saved:  $Heaps Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  PH Strip Suite  from  Hollywood Hip Room

We arrived about 1:30 pm there was quite a long line but moving quickly. When we approached the counter we were greeted by a friendly man, we had our $20 bill ready to go in our ID and CC. When he asked if we wanted an upgrade we handed him the “sandwich” and asked if there were any complimentary room upgrades available with a view of the fountains, he didn’t see the $20 right away, but when he did he smiled and said “i’ll just have a look”. After a bit of typing and looking he said “there is a great room available it is just being made up , if you want to put your bags in the lobby lock up have a look around for a couple of hours it will be well worth it.”

Worth it it was, 50th floor beautiful view over looking the pool, the magnificent Bellagio fountains and both ways down the strip including the Eiffel tower at Paris. Huge room, lovely bathroom, big tv massive bed. Couldn’t ask for anything more. Made an awesome trip even better.

Saved:  $~$750 Tipped:  $50 Upgraded to  PH Strip Suite  from  Hollywood Hip Room

We arrived around midnight so there was no queues. Two of us were checking in for 3 nights so we decided to tip $60 (20/night). We sandwiched the $60 fanned out slightly so they could see how many 20’s we tipped. She greeted us and I handed over the tip sandwich. She seemed surprised (but happy!) by the money. She started tapping on her computer and said she’d see what is available. (We didn’t even ask for an upgrade or anything, she just knew what we wanted already). She then said she’d be right back and left to go in the back for about 5mins. When she returned she said she had a complimentary upgrade for us which she said we’d like a lot. She put us on the 50th floor in a strip view suite. We’re here for 3 nights celebrating my gf’s 21st birthday. Honestly amazing – well worth trying the tip – don’t cheap out on the tip either! Regular price for the suite is $318/night and I booked the Hollywood Hip room for $53/night. Do it!

Planet Hollywood Details

Planet Hollywood is a Las Vegas resort and casino that was founded in 1991 by Bryan Kestner, a former actor, producer and businessman. Kestner was the founder of the Hard Rock Café, which turned out to be highly successful. He believed his Planet Hollywood venture would be equally so. The company was pretty profitable initially, but things went downhill in the 20th century. Planet Hollywood had to change hands before things started to improve.

The casino has received support from numerous celebrities. It faced a history of financial problems due to poor management and was eventually sold to Caesars Entertainment in 2010. Under new management, it has become one of the most popular casinos in The Entertainment Capital of the World.

Well Known Celebrities Support Planet Hollywood Brand

Planet Hollywood is one of the best known casinos in the world. One of the reasons it is so famous is that a large number of celebrities have endorsed it over the years. A-list celebrities that support the casino include Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Demi Demore and Sylvester Salone. The casino gave many of these actors free Esops in exchange for their patronage, which helped boost the brand.

However, the value of the publicity they provided declined as they got older and their performance in the box offices started to decline. According to the Economic Times, the casino’s revenues declined after they gold older, which contributed to the problems that led to the casino filing for bankruptcy twice.

After Caesar took over the ailing establishment, it has found new ways to leverage celebrities to boost its reputation. In a rather controversial move, Planet Hollywood recently hosted a showdown between GOP presidential hopefuls Donald Trump and Marco Rubio. Planet Hollywood has also recently provided accommodations to Pitbull, Janet Jackson and other leading celebrities, which is helping improve its brand.

Britney Spears has recently spent $100,000 to make a career comeback, which includes a two-year residency at Planet Hollywood. She will be making dozens of performances at the resort, which is expected to help create traction for both parties.

Customer Reviews of Planet Hollywood

Planet Hollywood is one of the highest rated casinos on the Las Vegas Strip. It is recommended by 86% of Expedia members that have visited it.

There are a number of reasons that Planet Hollywood is so strongly recommended. It is well-known for having attentive staff and providing fun activities, both for people that want to gamble or enjoy the resort. Many people have said that it is especially good for single people, since there aren’t many kids around. However, one of the biggest reasons that many people enjoy their stay at Planet Hollywood is that it is right in the center of the Strip, which makes it easy to enjoy their stay in Las Vegas.
