Placed a folded $20 between my ID and CC, told the clerk we’d appreciate whatever he could do to find us a great room. Found one with view of Bellagio fountains, asked if that was alright, we said that sounded good. He then asked if the $20 was a tip for his service, we said yes and enjoyed our view the next 3 nights.

I was just called next, however, my clerk was the only one on the other side of the large pillar that is at the front desk, so she was a bit away from the others.
We got to the hotel around 10pm and checked in by 1005pm. When I got to the counter, i just made friendly small talk leading up to the check-in process. Once she asked for the ID I handed her the ‘$20 sandwich” and just asked nicely if there were any available upgrades. She checked a few moments on the computer, went to go confer with her manager, and came back and was gladly able to get us a SWEET upgrade.

Was checking in with my girlfriend about three hours early. Already had five out of seven nights comped.
Wasn’t busy, walked up to the first available desk clerk.
Pleasantly greeted by a youngish male. I handed him my ID, Total Rewards card, Credit card with $20 inside…He said well we will certainly give you early check-in. I will see what I can find for you.
Upgraded us to 36th floor, same room type, beautiful view of the fountains across the street, along with the early check-in and a two for one coupon for Earl Of Sandwich.
Not upgraded to a larger room but really that is pretty good compared to what I could have had.
Just being nice and taking care of the desk clerk a little can make all the difference. If they can, they will take care of you too.

Arrived there and was a bit nervous- never tried the trick before but heard a lot of good stories!
The lady was very friendly, we talked a little and I handed the 20 USD to her, kindly asking if an upgrade is possible. She smiled and checked, we got a resort room with strip view, huge bathroom with two sinks, huge living room- and the view was stunning! Couldn’t believe it worked!
So, I highly recommend to give the trick a try- be friendly and talk to them!

I booked a Hollywood Hip room for 3 nights. I had read about the sandwich and decided to give it a shot. A few days before my stay I received an email from PH, offering to upgrade my room to the Ultra-Hip for $59/night. When I checked in I went to the next available desk person, handed him the sandwich and asked if there were any Complimentary Upgrades available. He said YES, and proceeded to upgrade me to the Ultra-Hip room with a strip view and thanked me for my tip. My wife and I were very happy with the room. They are recently remodeled, even the hallways have been re-done.

I read the reviews on this website right before we checked in. First time Vegas goer I didn’t know what to expect. I sandwhiched a $20 between license and card. She smiled after she saw the bill and said she would see what she could do.

I thanked her and continued to tell her it was my first time in Vegas and I was hoping for a window room. She ended giving me two options. The room we got on the 30th floor or a strip view resort room which was a bigger and nicer room but it didn’t have the Bellagio fountain view. I asked her opinion as I didn’t know and she quickly responded back with the fountain view.

She was extremely pleasant and helpful. We waited in line about 20 minutes which wasn’t too bad but definitely worth the upgrade! We will be back!

We checked in on Saturday afternoon, we didn’t have to wait, we didn’t target any clerk, we just walked up to the one waiting for us at the front desk, handed the clerk with my ID and credit card with a $20 bill between, my credit card is clear and see-through, so the clerk saw the $20 right away, the clerk put that aside, I asked if the clerk could find us a room with nice fountain view. We originally booked the premium fountain view room but wanted to make sure the room we’d stay would have good fountain view, not the view from tiny windows. The clerk told us that he /she found a much larger room with a great fountain view. The room was large, it wasn’t like a suite but it was a large room with gorgeous fountain view, we are not sure if we got an upgrade but we were very happy with the room. When we came back and saw the receipt for the hotel room charge, we noticed that they charged us LESS than we were originally quoted for on our reservation confirmation. (We booked directly through their website)

Just gave the sandwich and asked for a nice room. He acknowledged, thanked me and found the room.

Arrived around 1pm, he mentioned no early check-in fee, but I didn’t have the impression there would have been one anyway.

My cousin had a basic comped room (assuming it was basically whatever the cheapest room they had available was). I took his license, credit card, and did the sandwich with a $50.

Was upgraded to a newly remodeled Resort Room with a view of the fountains.

Didn’t really target one specific clerk since it was mostly younger women working. We checked in on a Monday night around 10 PM.

Just stood inline, sandwiched my $20 , and got the next available clerk. It was 2 pm on a wed (currently it’s September 20th). Said nothing when he received the Sammy, asked what brought me to Vegas and “let’s see what I can do for you *looking up reservation*” I booked a one night comp stay in a smoking room with 2 queens, I received a 2 bed bellagio fountain view, non smoking room on the 14th floor and waived early check in fee.
