Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to    from  Resort Room

We checked in on Sunday around 3pm. Not much people cheking in, so I went for a blonde 25 to 30 year old clerk and asked for a complimentary upgrade. She returned the 20$s immediately and told me, that management doesn’t allow any complimentary upgrades anymore and she would get in big trouble, if she would give us a better room for free. So we ended up with a 25$ upgrade for a panoramic view instead of 50$.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to    from  Comp Resort Room

Checked in on a Thursday night around 9PM. Went to the clerk, male, and checked was checking in for only one night. Had the 20 in between and asked for a complimentary strip view upgrade. He typed some stuff in and at the end, told me here you go, you have been upgraded to a panoramic view. I went upstairs and checked out the my view…..view of Encore. This prick took my money and gave me nothing in return. I sucked it up and left early morning to Venetian. This has worked for me many times at the Wynn and have received Encore upgrades but received nothing from a 20 this time. Looks like they are getting strict on upgrades.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  N/A  from  Standard King NS

Did the 20 dollar sandwich asked if they had any complimentary upgrades, clerk immediately took the 20 and put it back on the counter and said they were booked solid.

Not only did they not have an upgrade, she said they didn’t have the room available that we had booked (King Bed, non smoking). We ended up with a 60th floor room but WITH smoking. Amazing view, but smoking rooms for a non-smoker are awful.

Amazing to me that they had no rooms as the hotel was freakin dead and every dealer was complaining about how slow the hotel was. Not impressed at all with the Wynn and what is supposed to be the most customer friendly hotel on the strip.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Resort Room  from  Resort Room (Expedia)

Checked in at around 6 and gave 20 with my ID and card, she promptly placed the 20 on counter. I then asked if i could be on a high floor and she said “The highest I have with 2 beds is 14 unless you pay 25 a night for a panoramic view” I asked if they could upgrade me complimentry and she said they no longer do that. I paid the 25 a night and stayed on the 54th floor with view of golf course, also took back my 20.

Tipped:  $50 Upgraded to  Resort  from  Resort

Went to check in at 5:30 on a Thursday and gave the sandwich which has worked 4 other times for me. The clerk was very nice but said “You may want to keep this” and placed it on the counter. I then asked if they had any complimentry upgrades available and would love to be on a high floor. She said that would be 25 a night additional. I declined and went to my 11th floor room, when i got there i hated the view and went right back down to another girl and tried again (20 this time) with no luck. She told me they have been instructed to charge 25 a night and not allowed to give free upgrades this weekend.

Ended up paying 25 a night for a 60th floor strip view, not too bad i guess.

Tipped:  $0 Upgraded to  N/A  from  Resort Room

Attempted to check-in around 8:30 a.m. for a four night stay at the Wynn. Booked a “resort room” directly through the Wynn’s reservation center at a rate of $199 on Saturday and $109 Sunday to Wednesday.

Upon arrival, I slipped the clerk two $20 bills between credit card and driver’s license but the money was promptly returned to me.

Although the $20 tip trick did not work for us, the clerk was friendly and we ultimately ended up with a strip view room on the 26th floor that we were happy with.

Didn’t even have to ask. Clerk was very professional. Got a stunning view of the strip on the 50th floor. Def. worth the $20.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Panoramic Room - 56th floor  from  Resort Room

I sent my boyfriend to check-in by himself while I sat in the lobby trying not to laugh out loud. He came back beaming. Asked about club passes and got those too. The clerk was very nice and friendly chat will go a long way. Definitely try this!!!

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  not sure.  from  Resort Room

1st time doing the 20 dollar trick. I was booked through Expedia for the Resort Room.

Clerk put the $20 bill on the keyboard, typed away, offered me a room on the 34th floor overlooking the golf course.

The clerk thanked me for the tip.

Floor to ceiling windows in the room. Nice bathroom.

To be honest, I didn’t notice a huge upgrade, then again, I’ve never been in an “un-upgraded room” at the Wynn so I have no basis for comparison. I guess the trick worked because the clerk kept my tip, but I’m not really sure what the upgrade was.

The Wynn is a very nice hotel, but I’d never pay $300-400 a night to stay there (probably because I don’t think ANY hotel is worth that!)

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Panoramic View Room  from  Resort Room

Sandwich worked smoothly! Sunday afternoon check-in was busy but quick and pleasant. Requested quiet, non-smoking room due to respiratory health problems and immediately given a gorgeous panoramic view room on the 55th floor (non-smoking floor) with a king bed. Very nice!
