Booked on Orbitz for about $230.Upgraded to Tower Suite pool view.Loved the property.Everything was great
Told the gentlemen that we were in town for Mom’s 82 birthday and I needed a nice room by elevator. He said he would give us an upgrade room with a good view (it was golf course view not strip). Our room was on the 55th floor (out of 60). I am not sure what the difference is between a panoramic view room and a regular room. I imagine it is the floor level? He mentioned he would send a birthday cake to the room if his manager approved. We never got a cake.
Gave clerk $20 with license and credit card and asked if any suite upgrades were available. He offered suites at a discounted rate, which we declined but upgraded us to a panoramic view room on the 54th floor.
Had planned to try this with a $100, but given that I was checking in when it was really busy (~1pm) I decided to just do $20 since I figured it wouldn’t work as often. Sure enough, the guy was a pro. As I handed him the card+$$+ID I said ‘and if there’s anything you can do in terms of a room upgrade i’d really appreciate it’. Heard a quick snapping sound as the money dissapeared, and got a nice upgrade to a bigger room on one of the top floors. Well worth it.
I sought out one of the men at the front desk, handed him my credit card and ID with $20 wedged in between. He saw it, kept the ID on top of the $ and looked up one of 39 corner rooms with a fantastic view of the Strip in the Resort Tower. He gave me a wink, and I was on my way.
I tried tipping the front desk clerk and they just laughed at me. I guess I need better luck next time.
Not as successful as the MGM, but nevertheless, here we go: Check-in was fairly busy, as I was presenting my ID and Credit Card, I had the $20 bill showing just enough for him to see it. As soon as he saw the $20, he said ‘thanks’ and slipped it in his suit/jacket pocket. I asked for any complimentary upgrades and he said he would see what he can do. After a couple of minutes, he said he could upgrade me to a Tower Suite Room with a view of the strip, but the room only had one King bed. I figured if we’re staying at the Wynn, might as well enjoy the $10,000.00 beds (or so they claim) and not ask for a rollaway, so I asked if there was anything with two beds, and he said the best he can do is give me a Panoramic View Room and can try for something on a high floor. While he was checking, I asked if he could give me a Parlor Suite, he did check to see if they were available, but they all said “Checked-in” or “Not Clean” (The computer screen is partially facing you when you’re checking in, so you can clearly see what’s going on). Anyways, so he finally found a room on the 58th floor (just 2 from the top), I decided to take it since I had booked my regular room at $179 using a promo code and the Panoramic View Room was $249 that night (and the Tower Suite Room that he wanted to give us was $289 that night).
Oh! and I tipped the house keeping lady $1 before she started cleaning our room in the morning, and when I came back I had about 20 Wynn milk chocolates and 7 pairs of complimentary Wynn bath robe slippers!!!
Just came back from staying at the Wynn 7/8 – 7/11 for my 40th birthday. I was told by the reservation operator on the telephone that when I check-in that I could ask to see if they could do anything for my birthday. For some reason, that weekend was really crowded all over Vegas.
When I arrived about 5:30PM, I went to a young gentleman and asked if he had any complimentary upgrades. I told him it was my birthday and he told me that he would give me a suite if he could, but for some reason they are booked that weekend. He said he would see what he could do. He found me an upgraded room with a really nice view on the 56th floor (smoking optional) When he realized that I had children with me, he checked again and found one on the 36th floor (non-smoking). I chose the 36th floor.
We went up to our room and were pleasantly surprised. The window was from one side of the wall to the other with remote drapes, plasma tv in the room and bathroom and the bathroom was huge! The view was gorgeous looking over their golf course, waterfalls and don’t forget, the beautiful clouds and blue sky. It was wonderful and didn’t cost me a dime for the upgrade.
Service at the Wynn is phenominal! The TVs and phones were personalized with my name on them, when I called for a crib, extra blankets and later towels, they came almost immediately. At the Venetian, I had to call several times because they appeared to have forgotten about me. I love the turn-down service and hte little chocolates on the pillow (or night stand). When I checked out of the Wynn on the TV, the maid came within 10-15 minutes to clean the room. The Wynn was definitely more service oriented and appeared to be on top of things and everyone was wearing an ear piece.
Hubby sign ed up for the Red Club card. We played Video Poker and earned points enough for 2 comped buffets and came out ahead of about $350 total on the slots. With 2 kids at the adult price for the buffet, the comp was more than welcomed.
I will definitely go back to the Wynn.
Just got back from 2 night trip to Vegas – stayed at the Wynn. Upon arrival we found a younger looking man at the front desk and waited in his line. The lady in front of me was yelling at him and would not allow him to do his job. After waiting behind this woman for about 15 minutes, we almost changed lines but she ended up walking away. We sympathized with the guy at the desk for having to deal with the obnoxious woman. He asked for our IDs and credit card and I handed him my Visa with a $20 underneath, while asking for a complementary room upgrade. He noticed the $20 right away and quickly positioned the credit card to cover it up. He said he could upgrade us to a Panorama View room (which I’ve come to learn was about a $50 a night difference from the standard room). He thanked us and we did the same, and proceeded to our room on the 54th floor. It was beautiful – view of the Wynn waterfall, TI’s pirate show, and Mirage volcano. I will return to the Wynn and will be using the $20 trick everytime in the future.
I went to Vegas this past March, stayed at the Wynn Hotel (newest & coolest). When my girlfriend and I checked in the guy noticed that we were from VA. He asked where we went to school we both said George Mason University (Final Four Baby). He said that he actually went to Mason as well a few years back. He told us that the room we had requested (basic room) was not available yet, so he upgraded us to a high rise. When we were done I shook his hand and gave him the $20. He upgraded us BEFORE the tip on his own! We stayed on the 52 floor, there are only 60 some levels. Excellent experience! We’ll be going to back Vegas later this summer, I will post what happens then.
