Had free room from Wynn gaming app. There was a queue waiting to check in, so randomly got a guy at 10pm on a wed night. I slipped $20 sandwich and asked if he had any better rooms available without resort fees. He claimed he did and moved us from unknown to 33rd floor overlooking the shopping mall across the street. We were satisfied with the room choice and felt that if we had not done this trick we would have ended up on the boring side and had resort fees. He also said the resort fees were waived.
The next day, the TV screen indicated $19 fee for each of 3 IP’s we used for our devices, and a $11.53 outbound phone call just for giggles. Went down to check in desk and nice woman waived it too, but warned us to disconnect our WiFi items. We felt this was confusing because the initial connection splash screen mentions a basic Wifi plan thats included in the resort fee (or though we felt it is misleading). She waived all of it including the long distance call. We stayed 2 days in room with no charges.
The base room rate was earned by playing the Wynn gaming app over the past few months.
I didn’t intentionally target any clerk, but jumped in a random line since o didn’t know about this part of the trick. It was 7am in the morning, which made the lines relatively short compared to other parts of the day. I was greeted by a very happy clerk, perhaps he had received great news. He was super excited, and when I slid him the 20 dollar tip he said he could upgrade me to the 3 bedroom duplex. I knew this was 4000 dollars on a regular day, so I was freaking out in my mind! I’m sure something amazing happened with this clerk to provide me with one of the best rooms in the Wynn. If he sees this, thank you so much!
I checked in at 2pm on a Monday. I slipped the twenty between my ID and credit card and handed it to the male clerk. He quickly realized the twenty and slyly but the bill in front of his computer and said, “let’s see what I can do for you”. He asked if I would like a strip or golf view as he was upgrading me to the Panoramic King room. I went with the golf view and am very happy with my room, would definitely recommend trying the twenty dollar trick at the Wynn.
We were waiting in a short line on Christmas Eve and there are clerks working on 2 sides of a big check in area. A nice gentleman came to the line and directed people in front of us and said he would take me as his customer. He was very personable and when he asked for my ID I handed him a $50 bill and asked if there were any complimentary suite upgrades from my King Resort room which I booked for 3 nights complimentary from Wynn slots app on my phone. The clerk stated he was sorry the Wynn was basically sold out for Christmas week no free upgrades. He said he needed to talk to his boss about maybe getting us an Executive tower Suite with his/her bathrooms and 933 sq. Ft. Room for $176 a night. We would get $50 breakfast credit everyday, and get VIP line cuts to all restaurant and buffet. Yes they had a room at $176 a night and we took it. Regular low published Wynn rate on this room is $720 per night. After $50 credit room cost us $126 per night and we used $50 everyday. Christmas day Buffet wait line was 3 1/2 hours wait, we had special entrance was only 10 minute wait. Well worth the money and epic upgrade. Thank you Wynn.
I made sure I was friendly and I put the $20 with my card and ID. I asked if there were any possible complementary upgrades. He said he would check on it. Also asked about the resort fee and he said he would comp it and the valet parking. We were moved to the 58th floor two bed deluxe panoramic view of the strip. Really nice room. I started with booking the room through the casino app. So it was free to start with and got a $300 room upgrade.
Checked in at around 8pm. There was a single queue so I couldn’t target anyone specifically. Said I was checking in and it was my first time at the Wynn. Gave him the $20 sandwich and said since it’s my first time I’d love to be “well taken care of.”
Offered me a panoramic room on the 55th floor or a corner room on a lower floor. We wanted the extra space so we took the corner room.
I asked if he could waive the resort fees since it was just for one night but he said that was the one thing he couldn’t waive. I won’t consider it a homerun but it was a nice upgrade from what I had.
Busy week with two major events. Simple sandwich and said “any nice upgrades tonight?” $20 for 6 nights got me from cheapo conference hovel room to corner room strip view.
I slipped the 20 in between my I’d and credit card. The attendant winked as soon as he saw the money and said he would do everything he could to help. Same room type but the attendant changed us from non strip view 31 floor to strip view 60th floor. He also apologized he couldn’t do better since it was a Saturday and they were at 90% capacity.
Walked up to the clerk and I made sure to be super friendly with eye contact, jokes and everything. When she asked for my ID and credit card, I had it already set up in my pocket with a $20 slipped in between. As I handed it to her, I asked if they had any complimentary upgrades.
She told me to hold on to the money for now and to put it on her side of the desk afterwards.
She said that my two rooms were lower floor rooms with no view but now I was on the 52 and 54 floor with a strip view! Worth the $20.
Presented the sandwich at check in (mid-morning) and asked if any complimentary upgrades were available. Was momentarily taken aback when the clerk upon seeing the $20 said “is this for me?” I said “uh, yes, for whatever you can do for us.” She said “no, no, we’re not allowed to take money…but let me see if I can get you an upgrade.” She upgraded us to a panoramic view room on a high floor, for free. Very nice, and my friend was very impressed with me for knowing to ask. 🙂
