I just submitted and accidentally chose Hilton grand vacations. I should have picked Las Vegas Hilton that is where we stayed at. Thanks

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Grand Room, North Tower  from  Standard Room, per players club offer

Booked a 3-night stay for Fri/Sat/Sun at $33/night based on players club offer received in the mail. This in itself is quite the bargain at the LVH. Was delayed and as such arrived extremely late on Fri night/Sat morning, approx. 3 AM. Front desk was quiet so rather than do the sandwich, I merely asked the clerk if I could get a complimentary suite upgrade if I were to provide a $20 tip. He advised that they were sold out for the weekend and offered an oversized Grand Room. He apologized for not being able to do better and I had the impression I would have landed a suite if one were available. The Grand Room is certainly larger than the standard room. The clerk claimed the room to be 600 square feet but that may be a bit optimistic. It was in the North Tower, near the “Scenic Elevator” at the far end of the hall, which made trips to and from the parking garage a relatively short distance. The room featured a 37″ HD television, couch with coffee table and (2) end tables, refrigerator, very nice bathroom with tile floor, oversized tub and curved rod. Nice view of the mountains. A tremendous value for a 3-day weekend.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  North Tower Suite  from  Standard

Checked in late on a busy Sunday night. I handed the sandwich to the friendly clerk and, after complaining about my travel hassles for the day, asked if they had complimentary upgrades available. We ended up with a very nice suite including bar, dining table, sofa and extra chairs in the North Tower.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Suite on 20th floor in north tower  from  standard 2 queen

I sandwiched a 20 dollar Bill between my Id and CC and gave it to the lady clerk who may have been around 35 to 40 yrs old (asian features) and asked if there was any chance of a complimentary upgrade and she readily said yes and gave me a suite in the north tower on the 20th floor with a strip view. I checked in around 3:30 pm.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Grand Room  from  Superior Standard Room

Checked in with a nice lady at 5pm. Handed her the 20 with my id, cc and AAA card. She looked up and said “ok what do you want” with a smile 🙂 Asked for an upgrade, she typed for about 5 minutes. She put me up on the 27th floor, away from the elevator, overlooking the golf course in a Grand Room. Good deal!

Tipped:  $0 Upgraded to  North Tower 19th Floor Strip View  from  Standard

We arrived with the knowledge that the sandwich worked for a fellow traveler of ours who arrived a day or two earlier. We funded half of his sandwich as an investment so we could guage whether it was worth it for the 3 of us, who had 2 rooms, to fork over a full sandwich per room. At first we were told they were sold out, then when the desk clerk looked up and saw 2 sandwiches laying on the counter top, she quickly and artfully tucked the twenties behind her keyboard and upgraded both of our rooms. Alas, I’m vertically challenged so I did not have the same perspective of the clerk that my 6’3″ traveling companion had; he had such an angle that he would have spent $20 (and probably has)for that view alone! Why do the tall get all the breaks? He is the same guy who got confused about what to do with a piece of (alleged) cheese that was on his plate at a steakhouse (it was actually tofu); he was the same guy who couldn’t figure out how to use a barstool at the airport (sit on the flat part!); and, he was the same guy who unsuccessfully put $1200 on a foolish parlay: Louisville and the over in the Elite 8. Polly the Insulting Parrot could have done a real number on him this trip. I’ll do the sandwich again when I return in October.

Tipped:  $40 Upgraded to  Upgraded North Tower Standard Room  from  Standard Room

Checked in with a $20 sandwich and the clerk knew exactly what to do, no questions… He tried (and I honestly think he thought he was giving me a better room) 28th floor, with a little sitting area– only problem was it was adjoining another suite and it was LOUD, i could hear every word being said next door– and they weren’t yelling or anything, the door was just very poorly insulating… I went back down and the guy wasn’t there any more (argh), I spoke with another agent and explained the problem and she acted like there was nothing she could do, so I slipped her another $20… She was able to secure an updated north tower room for me (I’ve been in a standard rooms before, and the north tower rooms *are* nicer…)

All and all, I don’t think it was worth it– twice in the past, I’ve gotten suites here just by asking (no tip at all… )– So aside from removing the need to ask, I don’t think the 20$ trick work and better than being charming here.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Grand Room  from  Standard

Worked perfectly, I was told no sweets were available but was upgraded to a grand room. It was outstanding with a bar, dining room table, couch, and two beds. Had a great stay @ the Hilton
