Saved:  $800-1000 Tipped:  $50 Upgraded to  Rialto Suit  from  Luxury Suite

First time from the UK. Booked the standard room. Got into a long queue and couldn’t particularly target anyone. A middle aged lady called us over and I put $50 in the passport and handed it to her when she asked. She asked me if I required change and I said no thank you but I was wondering if there were any complimentary upgrades. She smiled and started looking at the computer. I also added, also is there anything that can be done with the resort fees. She said she will see what she can do. She asked me what suite I was hoping for and I said one with a hot tub. She said she couldn’t get me one of those (to be fair it’s really expensive) but offered me a high floor in the Palazzo with a strip view. I accepted this, it was the 43rd floor with stunning views of the strip and mountains. She also offered us water to take to our room, late check out for 1pm and wiped 4 days of resort fees. Looking online I easily saved $800-1000 based on what we got. $50 well spent.

Stayed for 5 nights and check in with $20 and got upgraded view. But also did the $20 dollar trick and said “I didn’t have chance to use the amenities can you do something about the resort fee”. He refunded resort fee for all nights so $200+ back.

Didn’t target any specific clerk. Handed $40 in between ID and CC. Was originally booked for Venetian on low floor, they upgraded us to higher floor on palazzo which has bigger rooms and at the time pools were not under construction like in Venetian. Giant suite- very nice

We got to The Venetian after a long drive. Bypassed the drive line that said “Hotel Registration” and just self-parked. There was a pretty long line at the check-in, so we really weren’t able to pick who we went to. The woman that we got was in her mid-thirties and really nice. I handed over my ID and credit card with a $100 bill sandwiched between. She asked if I wanted change and when I said no, she said “Let me see what I can do for you.” Only took a few minutes of her typing at her keyboard to find out what she was willing to offer. Since the pool at the Venetian was under construction and the room we had booked (the lowest Luxury Suite) was on a low floor facing the noise, she bumped us up to The Palazzo and to the 28th floor with a strip view far away from the noise of the construction and away from the elevators. This upgrade is usually $45 extra a night. Then she asked if we were going to use the gym or any other of the resort amenities. Told her that I would only be using the WiFi, so she then took off the resort fees. All in all, we got a better room, better view and saved a total of $260, after we deduct the $100 I tipped. Definitely worth it!!

Did the trick and asked for any complementary upgrades. He slid to see what the bill was and said he can look. We had a standard room at the Venetian, and he upgraded us to the Palazzo 40th floor strip view, $50 dollar beverage credit for signature cocktails at the Dorsey. He came back and broke the $50 in $2, $20’s and $10. I said it was for you as a tip and he said he couldn’t take it because he is unable to waive the resort fee. I gave him $20 bucks as a tip just for the upgraded room. So it does work, it just matters their mood on the resort fee I guess.

Luckily received clerk at right end. Very pleasant to speak with and acknowledged the sandwich right away. Even asked if I needed change, which I declined. It was 3PM, right at check-in time. We were meant to stay on a lower floor, but were upgraded to the 31st floor with a few of the strip. Saved $60 (minus the $20)

Saved:  $$200-$250 Tipped:  $50 Upgraded to  Luxury Suite  from  Luxury Suite

Arrived at the Venetian around 10:30 pm on a Friday night. There was no line to get to the desk and was directed to a young lady who quite frankly looked like she was at the end of her shift. Nevertheless I slipped a crisp $50 note between my credit card and ID and handed her the sand which. She accepted the bill, asking if this was for her, to which I replied yes. She said “let me see what I can do for you”, and typed on her keyboard for about 6 minutes to tell me that they are almost booked out for the weekend and that there are no upgrades available. She said she would remove my resort fees, as well as give me a comp card for free breakfast at the cafe each morning. So I saved about $150 dollars in resort fees, as well as another $60 ish in breakfast cost. Was hoping for more to be honest.

Booked the standard Luxury Suite online and offered a $20 tip at check-in using the sandwich method.

Check-in staff discretely accepted the tip and immediately proceeded to search for an upgrade. He offered us a room on the top floor of the newer Venezia tower, overlooking the strip and added late checkout to our booking as well.

Very happy with the upgrade and the service we were provided.

I didn’t target anyone I stood in line, there was a fellow there. I told him it was my first time in vegas and that I was scoping out spots for a bigger trip my friends and I would be taking in 2019. I asked him if there were any upgrades, he said he would look and see what he could do. I had a King room ordered, but a friend of mine was coming on Friday and later changed to two queen beds. It was about 9:45/10PM.

I’m looking at pool construction and trump tower. This is the worst. I gave him twenty bucks, he gave me two waters, and a room with a view of construction and Trump Tower.
