Saved:  $$500 Tipped:  $50 Upgraded to  Superior One Bedroom Suite  from  Superior Room

Got to the check-in desk at about 11:00 AM. Took the first available clerk after standing in line about 10 minutes. I handed her the sandwich and told her I was there for a convention but my wife came with me for pleasure and asked if any complimentary upgrades were available because I wanted something special for my wife.

She checked and came back with an offer of a “junior suite”. I don’t think that room type actually exists at the Trump.

She could tell I wasn’t thrilled with that offer and checked again. She then said she would upgrade us to the “honeymoon suite” if we could wait until 3:00 PM to check in. I took that deal. Again, I think she made up “honeymoon suite” but what we got was a superior one bedroom suite. It was worth every penny of the $50 and then some. My wife absolutely loved the room. We are going to try this again next week.

Saved:  $Unknown Tipped:  $50 Upgraded to  One Bedroom Corner Suite  from  Deluxe Room

Got a front desk lady by chance. She just came out from the back and flagged us over. It was around 1pm, on a Sunday. She asked for ID and a credit card. I sandwiched a $50 bill in between and handed to her. Before saying my line, she smoothly asked me if I would be looking to upgrade. I responded with, “if that is possible, then yes please.” She gave us a one bedroom corner suite on a high floor with a great view. We loved it! I wonder what could’ve gotten us into the one bedroom penthouse…?

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Penthouse One Bedroom Suite Strip View  from  Superior Room

Never done this before but with confidence, I sandwiched a $20 between my drivers license and credit card, asked for any complementary upgrades, she smiled and said you will love your room. Lol she gave me an upgrade 1 bedroom corner suite, strip view for the weekend. I originally did a deal with Priceline for $150 a night. This was a weekend during valentines and Chinese holiday, also no rooms were available, according to the website about 12hrs I booked. Super happy 🙂 thanks!

Doing this for the first time. My hands are shaking when I delivered the passport, $20 and credit card to the check in lady. At first I wonder if I should give one at a time, but I figure that will not be the proper way. The check in lady is very courteous and just upgrade us from one bed to deluxe room high floor strip view with 2 queen beds. I ordered one king to begin with but we had 3 people so this $20 is a life saver.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Studio Suite Strip View  from  Studio Suite City View

Got to the Trump around 5pm on Friday. Got in the check in line with 1 person in front of us, no one behind us and 3 agents at the check in desk. Got the 1st available agent which was a mid-thirties gal with a british accent. Said hello, gave her the sandwich, asked for any complimentary upgrades. She instantly said she would definitely check for us. Type, type type, only upgrades were the 1 bedroom suites for extra $25/night as they were fully booked for the weekend and couldn’t offer us the 1 bedroom complimentary (for the record, it was packed and EVERYWHERE in Vegas was more expensive that weekend for some reason). Declined, asked if they had anything complimentary. More typing, while initiating some small talk as to why we were visiting and told her it was my wifes birthday and also the 1st weekend getaway after having our 1st child. Was told congrats, etc… and was then told that she could upgrade us to a Strip View on the 58th floor complimentary. Took it and ran. Was a nice view and a nice room.
Going back in November on Thanksgiving weekend for my birthday, will try it again, hopefully this time I can get a 1 bedroom upgrade as the rates this time were much cheaper than before. Both times were booked via the Trump site with a Travelzoo promo code.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Strip View Suite  from  Regular city view room

We checked in around 12 noon, basically had to wait in line so didn’t get to choose who helped us. We were greeted by a nice younger female, slipped her the $20 and asked for a free upgrade, she said she would give us an upgrade for both rooms but didn’t want the money, gave it back. Our regular rooms were booked on Hotwire for $80 and she upgraded us to mini suites on the 40th floor. The hotel and experience was awesome.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  1-bedroom suite, strip view  from  Studio, city view

Arrived about 830 Thursday. No line for check in. Went to the closest person, a very nice young Asian woman.

Me: “Hi, checking in for
Her: “Ok, I’ll need a drivers license and credit card”
Me: Hands over the sandwich. “wondering if there are any upgrades available?”
Her: “I can check.” -then sees $20- “did you need change?”
Me: “no, that’s for you for finding us a nice room.”
Her: “thank you.” -starts typing- “are you celebrating anything this weekend?”
Me: “yes, our wedding anniversary”
Her: “well that’s definitely worth an upgrade”

Had booked a studio facing away from the strip. She gave us a 1 br suite with strip view (29th floor). The suite was huge and awesome.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  1 bedroom strip view corner suite  from  Standard studio city view

Of all the times i’ve been to vegas, the $20 sandwich never even occure to me. I felt kind of cheezy doing it but thank god i did. Now i know you’re thinking the same thing i was… “The Trump?! Really?!” Got a good deal from Priceline though so i went with it. I initially got a standard city view room for $125/night that was normally $189. Great deal right? I had no idea that handing the clerk a $20 sandwich would get me a strip view, 1 bedroom, corner suite that normally $389/night!!! So let me simplify the math for you.
$125×3 nights + tax and fees= $425 through Priceline.
$425+$20 sandwich=$445 for 3 nights in a sick room that would have cost over $400 for 1 night!!!!!
That is a savings of about $800!!! Do yourself and your clerk a favor and fix her up a nice, juicy $20 sandwich. You’ll be amazed at the results. You can either blow your $20 at a bar video poker machine while you’re waiting for your drink, or uou can get yourself a sick foom with a sammich. Choice is yours

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to    from  Studio Mtn View

Walked up to the counter, hopeful of getting upgraded. There were three clerks, one male and two female. With sandwich ready in hand, I was greeted by the male clerk. I handed him the sandwich and before i had a chance to ask for a complimentary upgrade, he placed the $20 bill on top of the counter and said “Let me see what I can do.” He was only able to offer an upgrade to a one room suite for an additional charge. I thought about it and passed up on the offer. I was not sure if i should have taken the tip back since he just left it there throughout the process. After all paperwork was done, he just walked away. I’m guessing he did that so that I could take the tip back without the embarrassment. Hope others have better luck.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to    from  City view studio room.

I dont think trump is allowing the 20 dollar font desk trick any more.

the clerk i talked to picked my 20 out of the sandwich and said “what is this”, and she placed it on the counter to give it back to me, and offered to upgrade our room from city view to strip view. but that’s the most they can do .

if we wanted to be upgraded to a 1 bed room for corner bedroom we would have to pay 50 more per night for it, the corner bed room would be 20 dollar more then the 1 bed room.
