Got to the check-in desk at about 11:00 AM. Took the first available clerk after standing in line about 10 minutes. I handed her the sandwich and told her I was there for a convention but my wife came with me for pleasure and asked if any complimentary upgrades were available because I wanted something special for my wife.

She checked and came back with an offer of a “junior suite”. I don’t think that room type actually exists at the Trump.

She could tell I wasn’t thrilled with that offer and checked again. She then said she would upgrade us to the “honeymoon suite” if we could wait until 3:00 PM to check in. I took that deal. Again, I think she made up “honeymoon suite” but what we got was a superior one bedroom suite. It was worth every penny of the $50 and then some. My wife absolutely loved the room. We are going to try this again next week.

Checked in just after 3PM. A nice woman was my clerk. When she asked for the credit card and ID, I gave her the sandwich and asked if she had any complimentary upgrades available. She said certainly, typed away for a minute, and said “I’ll be right back”. She went to the back room, and when she came back the explained we had an “option”. She then went on to explain all the perks of our 1500sq ft one bedroom penthouse, which she would happily offer as a complementary upgrade. Started off my brother-in-law’s bachelor party on a huge plus!

Arrived early evening for a convention. Waited in line for maybe one or two guests. There were two employees at the desk. I went up to the first available guy, gave him my name and he asked for DL and CC. Gave him the sandwich and said we’d appreciate if there was anything he could do for us.

No questions asked. Immediately started looking. I had 2 rooms booked – one for me and my girlfriend and another for my brother and his buddies . I mentioned that I only cared about the King bed room and he said that he was already on it.

Paid $20 for an upgrade probably worth $300 over the 3 nights. Was placed in an unnecessarily large one bedroom suite. 2 bathrooms, full kitchen/living room and large master bedroom. 10/10 would recommend this hotel and when in Vegas, the $20 trick is always worth a shot.

Doing this for the first time. My hands are shaking when I delivered the passport, $20 and credit card to the check in lady. At first I wonder if I should give one at a time, but I figure that will not be the proper way. The check in lady is very courteous and just upgrade us from one bed to deluxe room high floor strip view with 2 queen beds. I ordered one king to begin with but we had 3 people so this $20 is a life saver.

Tipped:  $50 Upgraded to  One Bedroom Corner Suite  from  Superior Room

I got to the front desk at around 11. There were 2 gents and a lady, the lady was furthest from the supervisor. Got the guy closest to the supervisors. He asked for ID, I smiled a little and told him “u dont want the credit card too”, he understood and said I’ll take care of you. Gave us a corner suite, full strip view on a high floor for 5 nights. He was also great at giving advice about the city as we were first timers. Generally be friendly, arrive early and tip generously.

P.s. Another party with us tried to get an upgrade without a tip, didnt work and got stuck with a mountain view room.

First time using/trying this so I made my $20 sandwich and proceed to a nice looking female behind the counter. As I approached she smiled and it seemed like she already knew what was coming. She took my sandwich and I asked “do you have any complementary upgrades?”.

She responded “Absolutely”.
She said just a min, and went to talk to a manager and came back and said, “how about a nice 1 bedroom suite?”, with a grin.

Wife loved it and thought I spent to much … 🙂

Never done this before but with confidence, I sandwiched a $20 between my drivers license and credit card, asked for any complementary upgrades, she smiled and said you will love your room. Lol she gave me an upgrade 1 bedroom corner suite, strip view for the weekend. I originally did a deal with Priceline for $150 a night. This was a weekend during valentines and Chinese holiday, also no rooms were available, according to the website about 12hrs I booked. Super happy 🙂 thanks!

Arrived at 3am. Only one clerk working. Approached and gave him the sandwich. He ducked to the back room and came back to let us know we have been upgraded to the Penthouse Suit. Didn’t even have to ask!

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Deluxe One-Bedroom Suite  from  Deluxe King Room

We were the only people checking in and went to the only clerk working. Explained that it was my wife’s birthday and slipped her the sandwich. Didn’t have to say anything, she slipped the money in her pocket and upgraded us straight off.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  suite strip view higher floor  from  suite city view

My wife and i arrived at 4pm, i went to the front desk while.she went to the bar, there were 3 ladies ready to help me so i choose the one that smile me,she welcome me to the hotel, and ask me for my id and credit card, so i gave her the sandwich of $20, so i ask her if there were any complementary upgrades she did say nothing, she was serious,15 seconds later her supervisor comes by and ask me if everything is ok,and i say, yes, she slips the bill under the keyboard, and still very serious,so she gave me my key and show me where the elevator is,and she tells me in a secret voice,i give you a suite with a strip view in a higher floor, enjoy,i thank her,and she smiles. I go to the room and yes higher floor, strip view, something i would pay $100 more, just for $20,thanks for this tips, good luck all.
