Tipped:  $0 Upgraded to  Jr suit view of strip (MGM/hooters)  from  Regular room thru southwest vacations

We were early to arrive (10:30am) and were told to come back at 2-3 pm for check in since nothing was ready.
We came back around 1:45 pm and just went to the next available clerk. As she was checking us in I asked if there were any complimentary upgrades. She was happy I asked and said yes. My wife thru in that it was my birthday also. (It was) and no money was exchanged but I was willing to when or if she asked for ID (she also waved our resort fees 19.99$$ a day for 7 days )

Saved:  $400 Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Deluxe Plus-Oversized Room Club Tower  from  Club Tower

So far , so good. Decided to try the $20 tip, and the woman was very accommodating! She upgraded us from a regular club tower room to a junior suite! We have great views of the strip and overlooking the pool and garden area. All I did was put the $20 between my id and credit card and ask if there are any complimentary room upgrades available. However, watch for hidden fees. Resort fees, room deposits, and temporary holds.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Deluxe Plus Room  from  Paradise Deluxe Room

Read about this trick on this website, so decided to go for it. Reservation area was very calm, went to the first one available, and older lady who didn’t speak English very well it appeared. However, I handed her the sandwich and just asked simply, “We are interested in any complimentary upgrades you may have.” At first, she looked a bit hesitant, but then in a couple of minutes she said “How about a mini-suite, will that work?” I said sure! I probably could have asked for the resort fee to be taken off, which I may do next time, but that was all it took. That simple!

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  club suite  from  standard

we arrived at the hotel about 10:30am but decided to wait to check in until about 1:00 since this was the earliest we could check in. we got in line at the VIP and was called over by a lady. she confirmed that we were staying for 3 days and that is when I handed her my cc and license with a $20 bill sandwiched in between. I then asked her if she had any complimentary upgrades and she said she would see what she could do. I then preceded to tell her it was our anniversary and she smiled and said she had something on the 11th floor with a partial view and it was not clean yet. I then said that I had never been in a two floor suite and my husband smiled and said “did my wife tell you it was our anniversay” she then said I will do something for you two and gave us a Club Suite on the 21st. floor with an amazing view of the strip. We will definately go back!! what a deal!

Tipped:  $50 Upgraded to  Strip view with extra space  from  standard

We arrived at midnight and there was only one woman at Reception. As we were staying a fortnight, I slipped across a $50 sandwich and asked politely if there were any upgrades available. The woman was very friendly and chatty and upgraded us to an 18th floor Strip view room, which had extra space as it was on a corner. I enquired about the resort fees, which were due to cost $11.19 per day and she immediately waived them too! On the day of our 20th wedding anniversary, champagne and chocolate-dipped strawberries were delivered to our room! Try it, they can only say no.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Paradise Tower-18th floor  from  Garden Room

I approached the older female clerk that was available at the desk. She was smiling and looked to be in a good mood. We had a late afternoon flight into Vegas, so did not arrive until 8:30 pm at night. I presented my Visa, with the 20 tucked under it, and asked about an upgrade, and mentioned that I saw on the internet that previous vacationers were very pleased with the renovated rooms in the Paradise tower.
She saw the 20, smiled, and tucked it to the side and said “Oh yes,” she had a wonderful room, with a view of the strip, on the 18th floor.
She said she would waive the resort fees, and gave us some free drink coupons, and after gibving us the keys, insisted we call her or come back to the desk if there was any thing else we needed or wanted a different room…The room was gorgeous! Plantation shutters, new carpets, new beds, lighting huge TV, Very clean, very quiet (high up).
We are planning to go back next November when the full renos will be done (new pools)

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Club Executive Suite  from  Paradise Deluxe Room

My wife surprised me with a Presidents Weekend getaway to Vegas for a Christmas Present. We had not been to Vegas in at least 15 years and we researched the Tropicana due to their remodel and good reviews. I stumbled across this website and decided to give it a try. I was a little nervous about trying it on a holiday weekend because I thought it would be busy. The shuttle bus driver gave me some Intel about it being a slow weekend so I thought I might have a chance. I prepared the 20 dollar sandwich while waiting in line to check in. We checked in about 4 pm. The clerk had no problem giving the upgrade although he did ask if it was a “special occasion”. We advised him it was an aniversery. I think they just need something to put in their computer to explain the upgrade. He intially was going to give us a room that did not have a strip view. I asked if he could check for a strip view and he made it happen by giving us an Executive Suite with a strip view.

Slipped a $20 with the iternary and passport, done it before w great success. However no luck at tropicana. I just Wanted a room in the paradise tower, but the clerk just won\’t do it. She said either a room in the club tower or a smoking room in the paradise tower. She did give me back the $20 though

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Deluxe room#Floor 20  from  Standard room#Floor 2

This was awesome. Worked exactly as described.

I sandwiched $20 bill with y license and the clerk was happy to upgrade me to suite at Floor 20. The suite had a separate living room and a bed room and was much nicer than my original room.
