Tipped:  $50 Upgraded to  Club Suite  from  Regular Room

I went to check-in at around 4pm. Went to the first available check-in person and put $50 in my passport before hand so it was ready when she asked for it. Once I gave it to her I asked her is she had any “bigger rooms” available. The hotel was pretty booked up but she still managed to give me a suite.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Deluxe Plus room  from  Deluxe room

Checked in around 3pm – this was the first time attempting this, so I just gave it a go…

I told the gentleman behind the counter that my wife and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary (true story) and slipped him the sandwich and asked if there were any comp upgrades available.

He said yes sir let me check – he told me that we were booked for a basic room on the 1st floor (probably because it was booked on hotwire) and he told me he would gladly put us in a Deluxe Plus room with more space and a great view on the 17th floor. He also comped our Resort fees and gave us 4 VIP Passed to the RPM Nightclub. I will be doing this every time I stay in a hotel now.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Club Executive Suite  from  Paradise Deluxe Room

My wife surprised me with a Presidents Weekend getaway to Vegas for a Christmas Present. We had not been to Vegas in at least 15 years and we researched the Tropicana due to their remodel and good reviews. I stumbled across this website and decided to give it a try. I was a little nervous about trying it on a holiday weekend because I thought it would be busy. The shuttle bus driver gave me some Intel about it being a slow weekend so I thought I might have a chance. I prepared the 20 dollar sandwich while waiting in line to check in. We checked in about 4 pm. The clerk had no problem giving the upgrade although he did ask if it was a “special occasion”. We advised him it was an aniversery. I think they just need something to put in their computer to explain the upgrade. He intially was going to give us a room that did not have a strip view. I asked if he could check for a strip view and he made it happen by giving us an Executive Suite with a strip view.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Deluxe room#Floor 20  from  Standard room#Floor 2

This was awesome. Worked exactly as described.

I sandwiched $20 bill with y license and the clerk was happy to upgrade me to suite at Floor 20. The suite had a separate living room and a bed room and was much nicer than my original room.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to    from

Slipped a $20 with the iternary and passport, done it before w great success. However no luck at tropicana. I just Wanted a room in the paradise tower, but the clerk just won\’t do it. She said either a room in the club tower or a smoking room in the paradise tower. She did give me back the $20 though

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  club suite  from  standard

we arrived at the hotel about 10:30am but decided to wait to check in until about 1:00 since this was the earliest we could check in. we got in line at the VIP and was called over by a lady. she confirmed that we were staying for 3 days and that is when I handed her my cc and license with a $20 bill sandwiched in between. I then asked her if she had any complimentary upgrades and she said she would see what she could do. I then preceded to tell her it was our anniversary and she smiled and said she had something on the 11th floor with a partial view and it was not clean yet. I then said that I had never been in a two floor suite and my husband smiled and said “did my wife tell you it was our anniversay” she then said I will do something for you two and gave us a Club Suite on the 21st. floor with an amazing view of the strip. We will definately go back!! what a deal!

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Paradise tower, top floor, strip view  from  Cheapo

This is the first time I tried this trick since learning of it and it worked like a charm. I booked with an on-line cheapo site so I knew the room would be nothing special. It was about 2:30ish and all the desk clerks were smiling and looked to be in a good mood so I didn’t target a specific one. When my turn came I just slipped her the sandwich, asked for any comp upgrades and she went to work typing away. After about 30 seconds she says there is a room ready on the 6th floor/strip view. I asked if that was the best she could do and she says there may be one higher up but she has to see if it’s clean. She then walks away to call the housekeeper manager, comes back and tells me it is ready. TOP FLOOR!! With a view of the strip. I will most certainly do this every time I go to Vegas. Thanks for turning me on to the little tip.

Tipped:  $50 Upgraded to  Strip view with extra space  from  standard

We arrived at midnight and there was only one woman at Reception. As we were staying a fortnight, I slipped across a $50 sandwich and asked politely if there were any upgrades available. The woman was very friendly and chatty and upgraded us to an 18th floor Strip view room, which had extra space as it was on a corner. I enquired about the resort fees, which were due to cost $11.19 per day and she immediately waived them too! On the day of our 20th wedding anniversary, champagne and chocolate-dipped strawberries were delivered to our room! Try it, they can only say no.
