Checked in at 1:30 PM. Short line. Took the first available clerk. Handed $20 between the cc and dl and asked if there were any complimentary upgrades. She said “Sure”. After clicking on her computer for a minute or two she offered me a high level corner room (Room 32-073) with a strip and mountain view. Also offered a free bottle of champagne, 2 for 1 buffet and other 2 for 1 coupons for TI restaurants. She said the upgraded room normally would have been $30 per night. She was very nice and the process was hassle free!

Went from run of the house room to strip view on the 35th floor with a complimentary bottle of champagne.

5:30PM, Went to the first available desk clerk.
Put a $20 between the ID and credit card and asked “Are their any complimentary upgrades available?”

The line was pretty long so it was hard to target a clerk. The clerk i got had just come off of break and I was her first customer. I past her my ID, and Credit card with the $20 in between. Simply asked if there was an Complimentary room upgrades today. She gave me a little smirk. We were staying for 4 nights. She asked us what brought use to Vegas. We told her is was our first time and it was our first vacation since of 3 year old was born, Which is all true but we poured it on. She upgraded use to not only a strip view but a Panoramic strip view room, gave us a complimentary bottle of Champagne and I think she also slipped in a couple more 2 for 1 buffet coupons. Well worth the $20 tip.

Waited in checkin line for the first one to call me up there were a few people in front of me so I wasn’t able to target a certain clerk. A young Asian called me over I would say is was about 25-27 years old slipped him the sandwich the 20 fell out and he said oh he wasn’t expecting it at all I guess I then asked if there were any complementary upgrades available he said let me check he got us a tower suite on a top floor and asked if we liked champagne and gave us a bottle of champagne anytime we wanted it to just call room service and they would bring it. It was a awesome upgrade

on New Years Eve we arrived to check in at Treasurer Island about 11 am.we had the sandwich ($20) ready and it worked very well….. The teller at the front desk was new because she asked for help…..She upgraded us to a double room with a strip view and a bottle of Champagne!!!! Great time we will continue to do the sandwich every time!!!

Got there Friday of Memorial Day Weekend. Line wasn\’t long (surprisingly), nice younger girl helped us out. She was very pleasant right from the beginning so when my husband slipped her the sandwich and asked if there were any upgrades, she thanked him for the $20 and said she would check and see what she could do. She ended up putting us on one of the highest floors in a corner room that had huge windows with a PERFECT view of the strip! She had champagne sent up to our room and gave me a coupon for 30% off at the Spa! I ended up getting a wonderful massage for a fraction of the cost! If we get her next time, I may try a $50 sandwich, maybe that will get us a suite 😉 Awesome, totally made our trip more memorable and it only cost us 20 bucks 🙂

Got there at 8am in the morning- couldn’t check in until 11am. Got breakfast and starbucks coffee at the corner and hung out on the strip for a few hours. Came back at 11 and the check-in line was crazy. Waited in line for 30 minutes and was helped by an asian girl in her late 20’s or early 30’s. Slipped her the $20 dollar sandwich with our printout of the reservations we got through a Groupon deal, with our Credit card and ID. As soon as saw the tip, she glanced up at us with a grin( Could see she was surprised yet happy about the tip). Placed the tip on the side of her table. I asked if there were any upgrades and she responded by saying “I am checking right now.” End result of our $20 bucks: free comp. champagne, 2 free buffets, 2 tickets to B1G1 free buffet tickets, upgraded room to the 25th floor with a fantastic view of the strip. On top of that, our groupon deal gave us $50 dollar food/drink voucher to anywhere in the hotel and a $30 spa credit per person. I would definitely do this again! =D

No target agent just who I got. Presented 20 between cc and license asked if any complimentary upgrades were available. Agent said none available because of holiday weekend,she then hit her keypad and a little bit later said we could have an upper floor strip view. She then waived resort fees , gave us late checkout. Said thanks and she returned the twenty

We hope that we get a female clerk as we’ve discovered in the past that they seem to be generous with the upgrades. Sorry guys.

My wife said to the clerk as she was handing her the tip that we were frequent guests at the hotel and the clerk immediately began tapping away at the keyboard. I noticed a wee smile on her face as she saw that we were indeed frequent guests. By frequent I mean at least once a year for several years. We also asked about 2 for 1 coupons and she was very generous with those. We also received a bottle of champagne. A very nice touch and one of may a reason we will continue to stay at the TI every time we travel to LV.

I got a room upgrade and a bottle of free Champagne after using the twenty dollar trick.
