I wasn’t able to target a certain clerk, it’s the 4th of July and pretty busy. He asked for my ID and I handed him my ID, credit card, and $20 in between. I asked if there were any complimentary upgrades available and also threw in that it was our first time to Vegas. He gladly said he’d see what was available and looked for a bit on his computer and then went over to speak to his manager. We just booked a basic room (whatever we could get for cheap), but were upgraded to a renovated room on the 35th floor (2nd highest) with a view of the strip. He also comped us a bottle of champagne and a couple 2 for 1 buffet coupons. All in all a great experience!

Waited in checkin line for the first one to call me up there were a few people in front of me so I wasn’t able to target a certain clerk. A young Asian called me over I would say is was about 25-27 years old slipped him the sandwich the 20 fell out and he said oh he wasn’t expecting it at all I guess I then asked if there were any complementary upgrades available he said let me check he got us a tower suite on a top floor and asked if we liked champagne and gave us a bottle of champagne anytime we wanted it to just call room service and they would bring it. It was a awesome upgrade

Came in around 1pm. Did not target any clerk, stood in line and waited for the next available which was an African American gal in her mid/late-20’s. Walked up to the counter with a smile & greeted a Good Afternoon. Slipped the $20 bw credit card and ID at check-in. She fanned out the sandwich, saw the $20, and had a big grin on her face while asking if I needed change. I proceeded to say, “no but was wondering if you had any complementary upgrades preferably with a large bathtub.” She nodded her head and started typing on her keyboard. She then proceeded to say “I can put you in a petite suite but unfortunately it’ll be on the a lower floor still with a strip view, is that ok? I said, perfect! Then she asked, do you like champagne, I said yes! With that said, also got comped a bottle of champagne! Best $20 spent!!

Walked up to the front counter spoke with a man in his 40s slipped him my id and credit card with 20 dollars in between and said would you happen to have any complimentary room upgrades the guy working beside him was dealing woth my father in law and another guy on the otherside of him was dealing with my sister inlaw and said put them in these rooms. I got a tower suite over looking the strip and my sister inlaw and father in law got petitt suites. Also got complimentary champagne the whole time we were there and half price buffets.

We came in around 10pm on a random Wednesday in the middle of January so I had no doubt they had an upgrade available. One thing I haven’t read on this website is that some hotels cannot comp a suite during slow times of the year, or as what the concierge told me. Anyway we did the 20 buck sandwich then he said the “I’ll take care of you” line, then offered us a strip view on a higher floor also a champagne bottle. For 20 dollars why not? The best 20 I spent in Vegas tbh

Checked in at 3:30pm on a Friday. Didn’t get the choice of check-in agent but the one I got was a 20-something female.

Did the trick as prescribed and she gave us two strip-view rooms (upgraded from deluxe) on the 33rd floor.

She also comped us a bottle of champagne for each room.

Didn’t get the resort fee waived, which was what I was hoping for, but we were able to partially see the Bellagio fountain show at night from the rooms.

Gave the clerk my $20 sandwich (credit card and military retiree ID card) and asked if there were any complimentary upgrades. Clerk discretely put the $20 aside and started tapping on his keyboard. No bigger room was available, but he gave us a room with a Strip view, and right above the TI Sirens pirate show. Plus, a bottle of champagne was delivered to our room.
This was in 2012, and I understand the pirate show is no longer running.

First time $20 trick attempt. I didn’t target anybody in particular and was called up by a 30’ish Asian male. It was right at check in time so 11am-2pm range.

I handed him the ID and CC with $20 sandwiched, and the “Do you have any complimentary upgrades available?” line. My reservation was for 5 nights so i was understandable if the upgrade was minimal.

Ended up getting 5 nights in a strip view on the 5th highest floor (25th floor i believe), and a bottle of champagne.

I wasn’t sure if it was an actual upgrade until i checked out and last second booked one more night. This time i didn’t do the $20 trick and the room and view were considerably worse.

Checked in at midnight.
Handed in the sandwich but I did not say anything, thought the front desk lady would at least do something about my room.
Turned out my money was gone but I got a shitty room, smell like 200 people had a smoking party last night and charged resort fee.
Worst $20 I ever spent.

Checked in on a Friday at 6pm. Got upgrade to suite room and they sent free champagne to room. Told clerk it was birthday weekend and asked for any complementary upgrades. Had $20 under ID as soon as I walked up to desk. Very helpful.
