Room Upgrade Reports

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Penthouse floor corner room  from  Standard

Gave 20 dollar tip, She said she didn’t have any suites available right now, but had a corner room on the top floor with a “panoramic veiw” that would be ready in about an hour. She promised me it was a very nice room, and it was. Had a veiw all the way up the strip as well as the Sirens show right below me. Also was offered the champagne, but did not use it.

We haved stayed at TI every year since 1999 and have realized that if you get a female clerk, they will try harder to find you a better room. This year we had a young male clerk. Second time and both times it didn’t work. Told the clerk that me and the wife was celebrating our 9th anniversary and that we had been coming there for the last 8 years. Pulled out the cc and dl with the 20 in the middle sticking out (as usual). He didn’t even try to look for a better room for us. Usually we can even get in the room early (11 AM), but he told us we would have to wait until 3 PM. He still tried to pocket the 20 but since he didn’t even try to help I told him I was going to need that back. He then suggested that they did have a upgrade for $50 a night. I told him no thanks and went and gamble for a few hours until my room was ready. My tip is try to get a female clerk, they always seem to try to help you out.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Master Suite  from  single

I was down $10K. I had just finished emptying out the last of my savings account at the ATM, with just enough money left to pay for a single room before beginning my new career as a homeless man, when I tried the $20 trick. I was upgraded to the master suite. What a view! The room was decked out. It was a great way to end my weekend of drinking and gambling away mine and my wife’s savings. I did a final line of coke and some $39 whore that I found on a flyer, then stole two robes from the bathroom and sold them on ebay.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to    from  Strip view

I was told that the hotel was fully booked so not sure if it might have worked on another night. This has been a repeated experience for me with other hotels as well. Don’t know if failure is due to unwillingness to help or if they are truly booked.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Strip View  from  Standard

Arrived around 11:30PM, had $20 between ID and CC. Told the clerk (Filipino girl) that we were on our anniversary and asked if any upgrades were available. She checked some, said that she didn’t have anything for that night, but we should call back at 1PM the next day and she’d get us a Strip View and waive the $30 daily charge. Also said we could call room service for a complimentary bottle of Champagne. Before I left, she asked me if I meant to leave a $20 between my ID and CC. I wasn’t sure if the trick was working, so I took it back.

Next day, called at 1 PM, room was reserved but not available. Told to call back in at least an hour but before 3PM. Called at 2PM same story. We had dinner and show reservations, so we needed the room to get ready. At 3PM, they said that the room still wasn’t ready, and was told that there was an additional charge but I mentioned that the clerk the night before had taken care of that. Called again at 3:20. Front desk manager OK’d me to get the keys but cautioned that I would need to call housekeeping if it wasn’t ready. When the bellman and I retrieved my bags, we got up there as the maid was finishing up. Took some calling back, but it worked! Moved up from 5th floor, view of the AC units and the back of the Fashion Show mall to the 31st floor with a view of Palazzo, Wynn, and Sirens show. Fireworks shot up right past our window!

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  High floor, strip view  from  Basic room

$20 between CC and ID. Gave it back to me. Gave me the upgrade, front of line passes for buffet and cafe & a free bottle of champagne to the room upon request. Gave him the $20 at the end and thanked him.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  28th floor corner room with 2 large windows with different views of the strip  from  Standard Room

As I stood in line, I sized up which clerks I would try the tip with and others which I wouldn’t. I stuck the $20 between the CC and DL as suggested and I barely had to say anything before he pocketed it and asked me what kind of room I was looking for. I waa vague and told him we were looking for something nice as my wife and I were in LV to celebrate our anniversary. He poked around on the computer and kept repeating that he would put me in a great room. I was satisfied with a good room alone, but before I walked away, he gave me his name and extension and told me to call room service when I got upstairs because he was going to have a complimentary bottle of champagne sent-up.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Tower  from  Standard

Walked up to counter, gave clerk my credit card, license, and a $20 bill. She thanked me and took two seconds to give us the upgrade to a higher level room and a complimentary bottle of champagne. Was very easy. We checked in around 10PM and there were only two clerks there, no supervisors.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Penthouse Floor Suite  from  Suite

okay, found this thread awhile back while I was researching a quickie vegas vacation APR 17/18/19. I tried the $20 trick at Treasure Island and was pleasantly suprised that it did gain me some extra perks.

As I was waiting for the next available desk clerk, I was hoping I wouldn’t get what looked like the ‘new hire’ with a supervisor person assisting them. Luckily, got a nice gentleman. My accomodations were already paid for (internet deal) but he asked me if I’d like to have a credit card open for room charges and that was my “IN”. Already had my $20 folded and ready to go and while handing it to him I politley said that the vacation package deal I bought did not allow for me to chose any rooms other than the basic and asked if he could help me out. He knew exactly what was up as I saw the $20 disappear and he began typing. I didn’t end up with a larger suite (none available) but he did get me penthouse floor with an end room with windows on two sides and views over the strip and sirens cove. He also comped us a bottle of champagne. Not bad for $20. Next time I won’t be so nervous.

p.s. I didn’t tell my wife what I was up to but she saw what was going down between the desk clerk and myself and was very impressed as well.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Tower Room  from  Room

My husband and I stayed at Treasure Island last Sat, March 25. We paid $65 for the room through Priceline. Incluing tax it came to $79. Used $20 tip for the first time. Worked like a charm. This is was nicests, warmest check-in experience I have ever had and I have been checking into hotels for over 25 years.

The room we booked was going for $269 that night on the TI website. There were no suites available, but the check-in woman upgraded us to a tower room with a view of the strip. She took out a map, and pointed out several view options, and recommended the best view. This room was going for $299 that night on their website. Also gave us 2 2 for 1 drink tickets. The view was fabulous. I had not stayed at TI before, and I really liked the rooms. Would definately stay there again.

Would definately use the $20 tip thing again. I’m pretty certain we would have gotten a suite if it was available.
