Checked in Monday night for a 4 night stay. Had booked a cheaper room with double beds a month ahead of time. I asked if they had any rooms with a king bed available. Clerk checked and said there wasn’t a room with a king bed he could put us in for 4 straight nights unless we wanted to upgrade to a suite with a strip view. He went in back to “talk with manager” (quotations because I never saw the manager so who knows), he came back and said he could upgrade me to that suite for $40 a night. I ended up paying for the upgrade and he gave my $20 back. Not sure how much of a deal the upgrade was, but I originally got a great rate on the double bed room so it was worth it IMO.
Booked a nonsmoking double, no particular view. Went to the front desk (25min wait in line Saturday 2pm-ish), gave id, cc, and $20 folded on top. Asked if we could possibly get a complimentary upgrade. She stated we don’t do complimentary room upgrades but we can check to see if there are any upgrades available with a fee. Nothing available, she upgrades us to a higher level room with a pool and high roller view, but still same nonsmoker double bed. Gives me back the cards and tip.
I was hoping for two queens or a suite option but a view is better than not. She gave me back the tip as well… so really was complimentary!
I did “the sandwich” with $30 and asked if I was eligible for a complimentary upgrade. The woman at the desk said that she was unable to take the tip until after she assigned me a room. She offered a nicer room for $30/night. It wasn’t worth it to me, so I took my money back and checked out like normal.
I asked about room upgrades when I handed over my ID, credit card and $20.
Did not take the $20 – handed it straight back. Told me curtly there were upgrades available but for a fee.
The clerk was a middle aged brunette Caucasian woman at express check-in. I am a young Caucasian male and I checked in on a Sunday around noon.
I did the $20 sandwich and politely asked her if she had any complementary room upgrades. She said we could pay $30 extra per night for an upgrade. I said no thank you and she gave me back my $20. There was a convention going on so perhaps that’s is why it didn’t work. #epicfail
