Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Red room, 30th floor.  from  Regular, discounted 25%

Wasn’t terribly crowded, but there was a small line of people waiting to check in. Clumsily did my first attempt at a 20 dollar sandwich with the bill sticking out from between my passport and credit card while asking if they had any complimentary upgrades available. Was given a newly redecorated Red Room on one of the top floors.

Our stay was for 10 nights so not a bad upgrade for 2 dollars a night! Our rates were also already discounted 25% by the hotel.

We took the next clerk in kine. It was about 2pm in the afternoon and it was very busy.

Handed the clerk the sandwich with a $50. Once she seen it she was very excited. I tried to tell her what we were looking for but she interupted and said she would take care of me. We got 30th floor with an amazing view of Eiffel tower, Bellagio show, and Caesars. She vas very gratefyl and thanked us many times!! We were amazed with what we got. We were here for 5 nights so well worth it.

Tipped:  $50 Upgraded to  nice suite  from  premier - comped

We had a comped premier room, we did not target any specific clerk. We checked in around 9:00 PM on a Sunday nite, all I did was hand the clerk a sandwich with a $50.00 bill. She giggled a little bit and started typing away. My husband was a little nervous because I never said anything about a complimenary upgrade. I told him to just let her do her thing. The next thing we knew she pops open this book and said she was comping us to this 1150 sq ft room and was showing my husband pictures of the room. Thanks paris for making my week stay in vegas awesome.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  red room  from  comped room

Checking into Paris about 5:30 p.m. on Sunday night. Like the rooms at Paris so I wasn’t planning on using the 20 trick, but at the last minute when i saw we had a young male clerk decided to give it a try. He was very friendly and when asked about a complimentary upgrade, checked with his supervisor and came back a few minutes later and gave us a Red Room on the 27th floor. View wasn’t spectacular but everything else about the room was great. We were there for 5 nights, so it was well worth the 20.00.

Tipped:  $50 Upgraded to  Top Floor Suite  from  Comped through Total Rewards

Arrived at the hotel about 9am. Looked at the counter a few male and a couple of female was working. Female in the platinum line up, went in that line up with my friend. We handed her the credit card and drivers license asked if there were any upgrades, she looked at her computer and said she could get me into the Red Room and then I asked for a suite she said that the suites werent avaible and something about an audit. She saw the $50 and said well check out the Red Room and let me know within the hour if you like it or not. Went up to the room was a bit small went back down and stuck $40 with the room cards told her that my friend was going to get married so I needed a bigger room cause I wanted to have the groomsman and our friends to come to our room to have some drinks before we went out for my friends stag thursday night. She looked at her computer again and said that theres one that was getting cleanned up so I had to hang tight for about half hour or so.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  red room luxury room  from  luxury room

Checked in about 8:30PM hardly any line. Didn’t know what to expect since it was labor day weekend, a busy time in Vegas. Didn’t target anyone in particular and the check in girl was very nice. Handed her my CC and ID with a $20 in it, she quickly noticed it and said “I’m sorry we don’t accept tips before we give you a room, but if you’d like to tip me after I give you your keys, that’s fine. Now let’s see what we can do.” She handed me back the $20, typed away for a minute and said she could offer a red room with a non strip view or a regular room with a strip view. I chose the red room with a non strip view on the 25th floor. When she handed me my room key, I had the $20 tucked in my hand and she grabbed it as I grabbed the room key and the coupon booklet. My wife laughed at me prior to trying this trick, but I was the one laughing when it was over.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Luxury "Strip View"  from  Luxury

Ok, we had 5 nights comped at the Paris. We got there about 3pm on a Wednesday.
The line was long when we got there to check in. Finally I was called over to the front counter. Debra was very nice to me and took all my information reference the reservation. I handed her my DL and credit card with a $20 sandwich. I told her that we were there for our 20th Wedding Anniversary and if there were any complimentary upgrades. She stated that suites were available for a fee. I declined. She stated that she could put me in a “Strip view” at no cost but it was only on the 5th floor.
I said “sure”. Well the room wasn’t a Strip view but more like a pool view. I knew 5th floor wasn’t gonna be great but I took it. She kept the $20.
The only nice thing was that we had the Eiffel Tower each night right outside our window.

Was it worth the $20? No way.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Premier  from  Premier

Arrived around 5:30 p.m., slipped the clerk a $20 between my license and credit card and said, “If there are any suite upgrades available, I’d really appreciate anything you can do.” She said she’d have to check with a host. I knew this wasn’t good news, as the upgrade would be based on my play rather than on the tip. She spent about five minutes on the phone and then said she couldn’t give us a suite upgrade unless we wanted to pay for it. She said she could give us a really great view of the pool and the Eifel Tower, however. That’s fine, but not an upgrade since the room we booked was supposed to have a good view anyway.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Strip View Red Room  from  Comped Standard

Arrived at about 5pm on a Wednesday. Was hoping to get the younger lady, and luckily I did! Slipped her the sandwich, she glanced down, asked if there were any upgrades available, and she said “Oh, you’re my first customer of the night!” Before I knew it, $20 was gone, and I had a Red Room with a view of the Eiffel Tower and Bellagio Fountains!
