We tried our luck with the front desk tip during our stay at Paris. We arrived later in the evening, so there wasn’t much of a line, but we did not pick a specific clerk to speak with.
When I handed her the cards and tip, she took a minute and authorized an upgrade to the Lyons suite! I didn’t even get to ask for an upgrade- she beat me to it. Our suite was beautiful, with a separate living/dining room and two bathrooms. She said the room typically ran around $800 per night.
As we were walking away she thanked us for the tip. Overall, much easier and less uncomfortable than I thought it would be. Would recommend this tip to my friends!
I didnt target any clerk specifically. It was about 4pm. I gave her my cards and a $20 bill. I asked her if there were any complimentary upgrades available. I told her what I wanted soecifically. She upgraded my room and a later checkout stay
We arrived in Vegas at 8:30 am on a Sunday morning. We went straight to the hotel and checked our bags as soon as we got there because we knew we wouldn’t be able to check in yet. After breakfast and walking around for a little bit, I went to check in about 11:30. The line wasn’t too busy and I did not target any particular clerk. I had a regular comped room already so I figured I could up my sandwich amount. The clerk immediately saw the money when she took my ID and asked me to hold on to it until after she assisted me. She asked how she could help me and I just asked if there were any complimentary upgrades available for my stay. I made sure to tell her that we didn’t mind waiting a while because we had already checked our bags. The clerk said she wasn’t sure she would be able to help but she would be glad to check with her manager. Off to the back she goes. When she comes back out, she says she has good news. Honestly, I was expecting an offer of a fountain view room, which I would have been fine with, but she said she was able to get us a suite. She put a rush on the room and called me when it was ready. At the end, I gave her the tip and thanked her for the excellent service. It probably didn’t hurt that the couple next to me was practically screaming at their clerk because the room wasn’t what they asked for. The tip helps, but being overly nice is helpful too.
Had a crappy room on 4th floor comped for 2 nights.
Slipped a 20 between my CC and ID…
I waited till the moment she looked at the 20 dollar bill and I siad ” Its my girlfriend’s birthday. If there are any complimentary upgrades with a view I would greatly appreciate it.”
She responded with ” Let me see what i can do!”
We were upgraded 26 or so floors higher with a view if the Bellagio fountains
I just walked up to the first available agent her name was davi its was around 8:30pm on 4/30/19 i went up with my $20 sandwich handed it to her and ask if she had any comp upgrades available then she said let me check she typed for about 10 mins then handed me back my id and card and said i got you in one of our nicest suites. We got to the room and fell over it has 2 bed rooms 2 bathrooms with a hot tub great view of the efiel tower and belagio fountains and strip was high floor great room upgrade for $20 but will alway try this trick now!
Checked in around 10pm and asked next available clerk if there was any complimentary upgrades available as I handed her the “sandwich”. She said she’d check and we were given a wonderful room on 27th floor overlooking Eiffel Tower and Bellagio fountains. The best $20 I spent in Vegas. So happy I found this site, thanks.
We arrived around 10:30pm on Friday. Myself, my wife and our daughter. We waited in line and luckily we were waited on by a young man. I didn’t even disguise the tip – just handed him a $20. I said we were in town to celebrate our daughter’s 21st birthday and would appreciate anything he could do to help us with a memorable trip. He was great and told us the room he put us in might be noisy due to the band and if we didn’t like the room to let him know and he would switch us to a different room. It was PERFECT!!! Best $20 I ever spent.
Walked right up to the Platinum Clerk with C/C(Total Rewards), Platinum card, and $20. Handed it to the clerk, and she said thanks. Upgraded from “P” Room to Red Room on 26th Floor, facing Bellagio fountains. Comped us 2 tickets to see COCO Peep Show as well! Never tried this before but it works well!
thanks for the info
Just was the next available. She was nice and we asked if she had any complimentary upgrades, we knew it was “holiday time” since July 4th was when a lot of people were staying through. We gave her the cc/dl/20, hoping for the upgrade. Got given the high floor strip view
I was at Paris for a 6-night stay during the very busy CES week — not a great time to be asking for upgrades!! Still, when I got to the counter after a 20-minute wait, I handed the clerk a $20 bill along with my license and credit card. Didn’t hide it, or “sandwich” it between the cards, just straight up handed it to her.
Just asked her for the best room she could give me. During CES, and for such a long stay, I kind of figured a P-room or a suite was a little out of my reach.
She thanked me for the $20, tapped on the computer for a while, and asked if the number of beds was important. I said no, as long as the room was non-smoking, I was fine.
She eventually found me a very nice 17th floor room. Just a standard room, but upgraded to an incredible view, one that Caesars normally charges extra for. Gorgeous view of the Paris pool, the Eiffel Tower, the Bellagio and its fountains, Cosmo, and CityCenter.
