Tipped:  $50 Upgraded to  Luxury Suite  from  Luxury Suite

Tuesday, April 24 approximately 1pm.
I didn’t target any particular clerk, I went to the next available clerk, that I was directed to.
I slid the clerk $50 under my license, and asked if there were any upgrades she could provide for the 2 Luxury suites I booked for 4 days. It was my father in law’s 74 birthday. I then told her if upgrades weren’t available, I would prefer a very late checkout. She told me my rooms were not ready, but I would get a text when they were finished.
This is what I recieved when I walked into the room:
A strip view for both rooms
A 2pm checkout for both rooms
A mini fridge in each room
One daily resort fee removed for each room.

Tipped:  $50 Upgraded to  Unsure  from  Unsure

Checked in initially at the wrong registration desk, as we had upgraded to the champagne check-in on the concierge level. First registration person just gave us the money and told us where we were supposed to go. Got to the right location on the concierage level around 4:00 p.m. on a Sunday. When he asked for license and credit card, we gave him the sandwich and he immediately started typing away, ultimately hooking us up with a massive room. Granted we were there in mid/late February from Sunday through Wednesday so not exactly a busy time but still, it worked and was well worth the $50.

Saved:  $hundreds Tipped:  $40 Upgraded to  Fortuna Suite  from  Luxury Suite

Slipped our guy $40 and a big grin appeared. He said he would be happy to take care of us. I said it was our anniversary and wondered if there were any complimentary upgrades. Also said if there weren’t any… what would really be nice is a late checkout since our flight left in the evening. We got Both!

Tipped:  $50 Upgraded to  Siena Suite  from  Bella Suite

I didn’t target a specific clerk. Walked up to the line at 2:30 and asked the guy by the ropes what time check in was. The guy told us that check in is at 3, but if we wanted to, we could stand in line to get pre-registered. I was directed to a stocky asian front desk guy. I handed him a $50 bill sandwhiched between my driver license and credit card. I honestly didn’t expect an upgrade since I was staying on a comp room offer already. He told me he will make sure to make our stay as memorable as possible since i told him this trip was a getaway for our family. My mom’s jaw dropped to the floor when I opened the door to our room. Now I am sitting in the Siena Suite trying to figure out how to convince my mom that i’m not a drug dealer.

Saved:  $$1800 Tipped:  $50 Upgraded to  Lago Suite  from  Bella Suite

Booked 3 bella rooms in total for a bachelor/ birthday party. We arrived at about 9:30 pm on Thursday night. No one was in line and went to the first lady that called me over. Slipped the $50 between my passport and credit card and simply asked for any complimentary upgrades she could give me. I asked if she had any crazy suites and heard about awesome customer service they provide at the Palazzo. 5 minutes later, I got my resort fees waived, the Lago suite with a pool table and 2 roll away beds all for free. No other questions asked! What an amazing upgrade!!

Saved:  $$1000 Tipped:  $50 Upgraded to  Prestige Siena Suite  from  Luxury Suite

We arrived around 11:30pm due to flight delay on Nov 17, Friday. The hotel had a huge line up so we were just standing in line and going to try out luck with anyone there.

It was our first time to Las Vegas and I was traveling with my boyfriend. We booked 3 nights on Expedia. When we arrived at the counter, a mid-age gentleman greeted us and asked for our passport. My boyfriend told him that it was our first time in the city and it is also for my birthday celebration which was in 2 days. We put the $50 between our passport and asked if there is anything he can do to make our trip more enjoyable. He then checked his computer and told us he will see what he can do. After checking on the computer, he went to the back room and told us that he needed to check on something. We waited for about 5-7mins at the counter then he returned with bottle of water and told us the room is ready.

He told us the room is in Palazzo (we booked Venetian) which is fine with us. Then he showed us a book with suite diagrams which we didn’t paid too much attention to since we were both exhausted. When we went up to the room (48floor), we were blown away.. the room was huge, we later found out that it was a Lago suite (the room would have cost $600 per night). The room has a pool table, 2 washrooms (1 was full bath with a jacuzzi)!

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Luxury Suite  from  Luxury Suite

Booked a suite and paid extra for a premium view. Booked online directly through their website, and showed them my confirmation. According to the manager, my reservation was lost due to their recent change to a new software operator in charge of their website- so I had no reservation. This was after 50 minutes of standing at the desk while the manager was on the phone. Eventually he made me a new reservation, and said “for your inconvenience today I’ll upgrade you, but only charge the basic room rate.” I went up to my room to find it was only a basic room, facing away from the strip towards the golf course behind Wynn. The manager blatantly lied after wasting an hour of my time (and the girl who I originally tipped kept the $20). So I booked a premium view and mentioned I would pay extra for it, and was then “upgraded” to a room without a view.
The hotel is very nice, but the service severely hindered the experience for me. Beautiful place, but I won’t be staying here again. I tipped, I waited for an hour, and was downgraded.

I booked two rooms at the Palazzo over Labor Day Weekend 2017. We were a group of 8 girls celebrating my 25th birthday, so we of course wanted conjoining rooms. I called a few days prior to request that, but was told that I wouldn’t find out if they were conjoining until check-in, and if so, it would be a $60 charge ($10/room per night, 3 nights). We checked in around 7:30pm on Friday night of LDW, and although I was nervous to do the $20 sandwich, I sucked it up and gave it a try. I didn’t target any specific clerk as it was pretty busy and I was directed to a woman who was maybe in her late 20s. I had my ID and credit card ready with the $20 in between, so when she asked for it I handed it to her and said “we booked the two rooms and requested for them to be connected, but if there’s any other complimentary upgrades that would be great” and smiled nicely. She asked if we were celebrating anything and I told her my birthday, and that it was our first time in Vegas. She definitely saw the $20 and started typing away. She managed to get us connecting rooms on the 40th floor with a strip view. Also, one of the rooms was for 4 nights, so she gave us a late check out of 1pm on the last day. I was never charged the $60 fee to conjoin the rooms, so the $20 was worth the upgrade for a high floor with a strip view! Definitely don’t be shy about it, if they have something available they will most likely do everything they can do accommodate your request.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Luxury Suite  from  Luxury Suite

I heard about this site years ago and told myself one day when I finally make it to Vegas I would do the $20 tip. I’ve been and done it and now paying it forward with my review..

My wife and I actually were only staying one night at the Palazzo and we were checking in on a Saturday which I think hindered our upgrade prospects a little, but I tipped $20 anyway. I stayed the night before sharing a room with friends also at Palazzo and still had a little liquid courage in me while checking in around 10am. I didn’t target, and was assigned to a female clerk on the far left. The room was a basic room booked by a friend with a military discount who was also staying at the same time and I think that might have set us back a little too.

I put together the sandwich and asked if there might be any complimentary upgrades available with my wife by my side. She set it all aside and said, “thank you very much – let me see what I can find.” She asked if it was a special occasion and I let her know it was my wife’s birthday (which it was the week prior) and also our 5 year anniversary (which is around the corner). She congratulated us and made small talk on kids, where we’re from, etc while searching around. She said she was looking for any of the bigger suites and I said that would be awesome if she could find one to upgrade us to. She searched for a while longer and I could tell by her body language she wasn’t able to get us a bigger room, but I knew she was at least making some effort. She was able to move us to a higher floor (teens to 27) and from no view to a strip view and gave us late checkout. I thought about asking for resort fees to be waived, but didn’t since she was genuinely nice and seemed to make a real effort for us. I didn’t want to push my luck. Maybe I should have.

By total coincidence when we checked out we were assigned the same girl! She of course remembered us and waived the room charge for the water we drank from the mini bar.

All in all was worth the $20 and I would also say that the tip didn’t feel sleazy at all – was more of a real gratitude for anything that could be done for making our stay better.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Luxury Suite  from  Luxury Suite

I was booked into the Palazzo for two nights, on a special conference rate.
I arrived around 3pm on a Wednesday. There was almost no line, so I was directed straight to a check-in clerk.

We chatted and when she asked for my ID/credit card, I included $20 and asked if there were any complementary upgrades available. She seemed really happy to look for me.

She worked away on her computer for a quite a while (we chit chatted throughout that time). Then she said that she had found a good room for me, at no extra cost.

It turned out to be a Luxury Suite (which is their basic room) on the 22nd floor (out of 52 total.) So not really anything out of the ordinary.

She did ask if a late-checkout would be helpful, to which I said yes, and she apparently added a 1pm checkout to my booking for free. (Though housekeeping did still come into my room at 11am on my last day.)

At least she tried.

It’s a fantastic hotel and a great room anyway, but my $20 gamble didn’t pay off this time.
