Saved:  $240 Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Fortuna Suite  from  Bella Suite

I went to the next available clerk, Joshua at about 8:30 PM. I gave him the sandwich and he thanked me and asked me if I needed any change. I told him I didn’t and asked if there were any complimentary upgrades. He said he’d check with his manager and went to the back. He emerged to say he could upgrade me to a Fortunate Suite with a view of the strip. I knew from checking around online that the Fortuna was a great suite. I was so pleasantly surprised I didn’t even bother asking for resort fees to be waived (ie I thought the upgrade was enough). We loved the Fortuna!

Saved:  $1000 Tipped:  $50 Upgraded to  Prestige Siena Suite  from  Luxury Suite

My experience went over well! I didn’t Target any particular clerk, was just hoping to get the right one. I arrived about 12:30 am for check in(late flight) once I was called to the desk I was helped by a very friendly gentlemen, ask for my ID and CC with 50$ in-between, and ask for any complementary room upgrades, we went from a base luxury suite to a 1500sq ft prestige sienna one bedroom on the 45th floor over looking the east side of Las Vegas, still an amazing view! I was very satisfied with this upgrade also got the resort fees waived! All in all this worked out well for me I will definitely try my luck next time.

Couldn’t target a specific clerk. Around 1230 on a slow Wednesday. I just asked if there were any complementary upgrades available. Her upgrade was the same suite higher floor strip view which is $30 more per day but I’m only staying 2 nights so it’s not really worth it. I think 20 dollars could’ve got me the same “upgrade.”

Saved:  $1,314.00 Tipped:  $50 Upgraded to  Siena Suite  from  Luxury Suite

Checked in at 3:00 pm and was directed to a 20 something lady. I handed her the sandwich with a $50 bill in the middle. She asked if I needed change, and I told her no, that was for her. we made small talk for a bit and she asked what my plans were in in town. I told her my husband and I had never taken a vacation in all the 17 years we have been married, and we thought would be a perfect place to take one! I asked if she had any complimentary upgrades available, she said of course and started typing away. I told he that I would love to check out one of your sienna suites, and said she said that since we booked directly through the palazzo hotel, and not a third party site, that she would love to give us our requested room upgrade. She found 2 sienna suites available, and asked if I would like the one with the view, and I smiled and told her she read my mind! She said she was going to make this trip amazing for us and handed us our keys to our suite along with 3 vouchers for full meals of our choice for 2 at the LUX cafe. (so over a $300 value or more) We also had a $100 credit for the mini bar in our room! And she also added late 2:00pm check-out with no charge. I had received so much from tipping $50, that I never asked about resort fees. I had gone from the regular, cheapest room, to one of the best rooms in the hotel (1,900 square feet) and more deluxe than anywhere I had ever stayed. Always book direct!!! even if you pay a few dollars more!! The hotel makes more, and you will have a better chance of getting what you ask for! I booked my room at $159/night and the room I got was $497/night. Plus $300 worth of food and two for 1 drink tickets at all hotel bars.

Tipped:  $40 Upgraded to  Luxury Suite  from  Luxury Suite

Checked in at venetian.
Slipped the clerk $40 usd (really young pretty woman).
She said she would take care of me.
She gave me a room at the palazzo instead and said that room was better than the one i booked.
Really not sure if i got a deal because both luxuty suites in both the venetian and palazzo were priced the same.

I was excited at the time, thought she really hooked me up, but i didnt notice the upgrade.
Group of 4 guys (10 usd a person was worth a shot). No big deal.

I asked for waived resort fees and anything else she could offer (being very casual and friendly). She did nothing else saying the room was $80 more per night that she gave me.

Once again maybe the room was better but online prices say they were the same.

Anyways long story short it was worth shot, would i try it again, hell ya, its vegas baby!
Thats why we gamble!

Tipped:  $50 Upgraded to  Bella Suite  from  Bella Suite

Checked in around 3:15PM. Didn’t target a particular clerk was sent to a young man. Handed him the folded up $50 between the license and CC. He immediately said we can put this on the counter for now. Asked about any complimentary Sienna upgrades which he said no. Told me $275 per night best he could do. Asked about waived resort fees, another no said they are buckling down on this practice. Lastly asked for a high floor room which he did oblige. I removed the $50 from the counter and replaced it with a $20. 49th floor with the Wynn view was decent.

Tipped:  $100 Upgraded to  Luxury Suite  from  Luxury Suite

This was in August. Unfortunately I forget the clerk’s name- young white man. I slipped him the $100 sandwich and asked if there were any upgrades available. I had read reviews about high tips leading to far superior suites. He slipped the money back to me and told me that he cannot accept it. Maybe he was a religious type. I ended up with the same room I booked. A tip (lol)- I do believe the best upgrade 99% of people can get is from Venetian to Palazzo, which is worth the sandwich. A 1PM checkout time can usually be negotiated on the day of with no money, and a view can as well.

Tipped:  $50 Upgraded to  Unsure  from  Prestige Luxury Suite

Prestige lounge check in at around 10am on a Friday. Didn’t exactly target a clerk but the clerk who served us wasn’t the manager and looked quite frumpy. On the face of it, I thought she would be receptive. I slipped $50 in with my passport whilst mentioning that we were celebrating a wedding anniversary (true) and that if she could make our stay extra special we’d be very grateful. She took the money without blinking and hurriedly said that she could definitely help us out…

Well.

She did sweet FA. No room upgrade, no reduction of resort fees. Nada. Very disappointed.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Luxury Suite  from  Luxury Suite

I was booked into the Palazzo for two nights, on a special conference rate.
I arrived around 3pm on a Wednesday. There was almost no line, so I was directed straight to a check-in clerk.

We chatted and when she asked for my ID/credit card, I included $20 and asked if there were any complementary upgrades available. She seemed really happy to look for me.

She worked away on her computer for a quite a while (we chit chatted throughout that time). Then she said that she had found a good room for me, at no extra cost.

It turned out to be a Luxury Suite (which is their basic room) on the 22nd floor (out of 52 total.) So not really anything out of the ordinary.

She did ask if a late-checkout would be helpful, to which I said yes, and she apparently added a 1pm checkout to my booking for free. (Though housekeeping did still come into my room at 11am on my last day.)

At least she tried.

It’s a fantastic hotel and a great room anyway, but my $20 gamble didn’t pay off this time.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Luxury Suite  from  Luxury Suite

After a two hour flight redirect, due to a thunder storm that was miles from the actual airport, we arrived at hotel around 6 pm and check in was super busy. We got a young guy in his mix twenties. We started some good conversation about the trip and then handed him my ID and credit card with $20 in between and I say “we would alleviate it if there are any complimentary upgrades available, like a larger room or quiet area with view.:. After some more conversation, the guy notices the $20 and says “uh, do you need me tho break this down for you? ” So I tell him “No, that it’s for you.” He smiles and continues hitting computer keys. We have more good conversation and he does put us at the end of a ball, offers free late check out ( which doesn’t help us) and does not even comp the facility fee. We end up in the basic room with slight view of Treasure Island on 34 floor. While we stood and talked to him, he never took the $20 off the counter…made me think that management may be cracking down on the desk staff taking tips or this kid was just new.
