Tipped:  $40 Upgraded to  King Luxury Suite with View  from  King Luxury Suite

So..Yaaaay…It worked for me!!!!!

See below for the inside scoop and additional tips to save.

My hubby, mom, and I are here at the Palazzo staying for 4 nights . We booked two King Luxury Suite rooms (Non-connecting with the special offer discount code). NOTE: There is always a discount code offered so can get the lowest rate available at that time. Also if the rate drops any lower between the time you book you call and request an adjustment. Be sure to tell the rep if you are visiting for a special occasion…(i.e. birthday, honeymoon, etc..) it can help with your request for upgrades.

The days we planned our trip just so happened to be the same time as a big conference hosted by the Venetian. So in this case the Palazzo was cheaper.

I had already done my research and learned about what worked for others. So here’s how it happened for me:

We arrived at 1pm and of the three checking in, I was the most comfortable at asking for the upgrade and it was my birthday on top of that. I had my family wait off to the side and I proceeded alone. I was a little nervous at first because I got not one rep, but two as one lady was being trained. The ladies were young and very nice. I walked up with a big smile and provided my name and confirmation number. Once they requested my ID and CC, I gave a $40 sandwich ($20 per room) and asked if they had any complimentary upgrades. She kindly she said,” Thank you and yes, let me see what I can do”. She started typing away and told me that the inventory was very tight due to the conference. I was upgraded to two connecting King Luxury Suite with view and able to check in early. She waived our resort fees and provided us with a late checkout.

I truly believe I would have gotten a better room upgrade if available. So in all I was able to:
1) Check in early
2) Avoid the connecting fees ($160 saving)
3)Good view
4) Resort Fees waived
5) Late Checkout

So happy it worked for us!! I plan to do this every time.
Vegas runs in tips…you can’t go wrong.

Checked in at venetian.
Slipped the clerk $40 usd (really young pretty woman).
She said she would take care of me.
She gave me a room at the palazzo instead and said that room was better than the one i booked.
Really not sure if i got a deal because both luxuty suites in both the venetian and palazzo were priced the same.

I was excited at the time, thought she really hooked me up, but i didnt notice the upgrade.
Group of 4 guys (10 usd a person was worth a shot). No big deal.

I asked for waived resort fees and anything else she could offer (being very casual and friendly). She did nothing else saying the room was $80 more per night that she gave me.

Once again maybe the room was better but online prices say they were the same.

Anyways long story short it was worth shot, would i try it again, hell ya, its vegas baby!
Thats why we gamble!

I booked a room at the Venetian originally. I checked in between 6-7:30pm on a Wednesday. I didn’t target anyone specific and was led to this young female. She was sweet. I put $40 between my credit card and license. She pocketed the money real quick then asked if I wanted any “complimentary upgrades” I said yes of course. She asked if I wanted a specific tower (Venetian, Palazzo, or Venezia) and provided information on each. I ended up with a standard suite room in the Palazzo. It was very nice, but she did not wave the resort fees ($50 a day) or send up a bottle of champaign like most people I have read received. And the view was mediocre at best. I really don’t feel like it was worth the $40. She made it seem like she was really hooking me up and even asked another clerk to “help” make something work out.

Young female clerk. Seemed new. I enquired about complimentary upgrades and presented the sandwich. She sat the $20 aside and said if I was happy with her service i could tip her later. No upgrade.

Tipped:  $100 Upgraded to  Sienna Suite  from  King Luxury Suite

Went for Final Four for the NCAA tournament. Got to the check in line at 9:30 pm and was bit of a wait so I did not have a choice on which clerk to go to. I usually always do $20 sandwich to get to a bella suite, but wanted to try a $100 this time. Got called over to a young female clerk and had it all ready. When I gave her the sandwich, I asked her if there was anything bigger then the Bella suite. She just asked me if I have ever stayed in the Sienna suite before. Told her no and that was it 🙂

My experience went over well! I didn’t Target any particular clerk, was just hoping to get the right one. I arrived about 12:30 am for check in(late flight) once I was called to the desk I was helped by a very friendly gentlemen, ask for my ID and CC with 50$ in-between, and ask for any complementary room upgrades, we went from a base luxury suite to a 1500sq ft prestige sienna one bedroom on the 45th floor over looking the east side of Las Vegas, still an amazing view! I was very satisfied with this upgrade also got the resort fees waived! All in all this worked out well for me I will definitely try my luck next time.

We were only in Vegas for one night so we tried to get into town early [11am early]. I had two rooms in my name so when we got there I really couldn’t target anyone because there was a person in a red jacket mettering the lines. I spoke to her and asked her how her day was going , small talk. I had 3 20’s sandwiched ready to go. When it was my turn I handed the sandwich to the clerk and he immediately said let me see what I can do for you. He said we were in town early but let’s see what we have available. To be honest wasnt interested in an upgrade just early and late check out…. I mentioned if there was a possibility of a early and late checkout the next day. He asked what time were we thinking…. I didnt answer, I let him tell me. He said he could do 3pm at no extra charge and that worked well for us. He said he only had 1 Luxury suite available on a high floor but excused himself and went and spoke with a guy wearing a nicer suite. He came back seconds later and said he could upgrade one of the rooms to a 1200 sft room so they could both be available at the same time. The persons to my left and right were both told there were zero rooms available for early check in and I got TWO with early check in and late check out for the tip. The rooms at Palazzo are already nice but walking up to my room with two doors I knew it would be awesome!!! 1.5 bathrooms, full living room, separate bedroom, 5 sprayer shower (awesome), spa tub and a TV in the bathroom. I was overlooking the WYNN”s pool on the 43rd floor. Could have been the tip, could have been we were only in town for one night.

I am a Spire Elite and military, so I was hoping that would give me some leverage. The stay itself was on reward nights. I also emailed reservations to notify them of my stay was for the Valentine’s Day weekend and a one year anniversary before my arrival. Arrived at around 9pm and the front desk was not busy at all. I couldn’t really target a specific clerk due to the red coat clerks directing traffic. When I provided the clerk with the tip between my military ID and credit card, there was a mention that the clerk was new to the check-in process for Palazzo and she was being assisted by another clerk, so that didn’t give me too much hope. I told them that although I did get booked into a two queen suite, it would be great if they could fit me into a single bed room instead. By the time they were done looking through, they were unable to upgrade my room, nor provide me with a suite with a single king bed. They did get me a room with a view of the strip and the mountains on the 44th floor, although I wouldn’t say that was much of an upgrade for the tip nor the Spire elite status.

Couldn’t target a specific clerk. Around 1230 on a slow Wednesday. I just asked if there were any complementary upgrades available. Her upgrade was the same suite higher floor strip view which is $30 more per day but I’m only staying 2 nights so it’s not really worth it. I think 20 dollars could’ve got me the same “upgrade.”

Prestige lounge check in at around 10am on a Friday. Didn’t exactly target a clerk but the clerk who served us wasn’t the manager and looked quite frumpy. On the face of it, I thought she would be receptive. I slipped $50 in with my passport whilst mentioning that we were celebrating a wedding anniversary (true) and that if she could make our stay extra special we’d be very grateful. She took the money without blinking and hurriedly said that she could definitely help us out…

Well.

She did sweet FA. No room upgrade, no reduction of resort fees. Nada. Very disappointed.
