I was so exhausted from my flight I just wanted a nice room to lay down in, I said what the heck, I put my $20 under my DL because my first night I was doing cash deposit. The girl at the front was kinda young and seemed real nice so I’m glad I got her, it was around 5 pm when I checked in, I explained to her I had 2 reservations because my husband was coming the following day and if it was possible to stay in the same room so I wouldn’t have to unpack she said yes that’s fine you will have room blah blah on the 5th floor, I passed her my $20 with my DL and nonchalantly asked her btw do you have any complimentary upgrades? She said let me see here and started typing away, she said I can give you the street view King on the 15th floor I said I’ll take it :). She then said I’ll give you free late check out at 4 so it gives time for your husband to check in to the same room at that time, the whole point of that is because the other 2 nights we were using his debit for the deposit. The following day he was running late and I was freaking out thinking we might loose the room if I had to check out, went down there and explained he was running late and wouldn’t make it till 6, they said don’t worry we’ll just check you out and in and just have him bring his debit card when he comes, when he finally came they returned my $100 deposit and we put his debit card on file, I wasn’t charged a resort fee. After we checked out on the second reservation I was charged a resort fee again they were all waived :). So happy with this tip I will definetly do it again every time so worth it!
Booked room directly with hooters. $29 per night Friday – Tuesday! Checked in @ 3pm, tucked $20 tip behind id. Got first room on top floor. (19th). Everything worked!
Checked in around 4pm, had the $20 sandwiched, the employee saw it and quickly slid it to the side.I asked for an upgrade and I think that if there would have been something she would have given it to me.We did get a higher floor with a fabulous view. I don’t feel like the money was wasted, I received excellent customer service and since it seems like your tipping all the time in Vegas anyway, why not the front desk?
10:30PM Rochelle was front desk. Tried to put a $20 in her hand and her attitude towards having to check us in was AWFUL. She put us in two fleabag motel rooms. Don’t stay here.
I gave the clerk my id and cc along with $20 and asked for any available upgrades. He took my change and told me there were completly booked.
Well I will mark this as a “YES” for an upgrade just for the simple fact we went from the 3rd floor that didn’t have much of a view to the 11th floor that over looked the pool. Sure the window could have been a bit more clean from the outside so we could see a bit better but the amount of time we spent in the room we are not sure it was worth it. A side note there was another male that was standing with our hotel clerk as he was getting trained in. I’d have imagined that IF she was all alone we’d have got a much better room.
I don’t think he fully understood what was going on cause after i asked him for the upgrade he continued processing my check in and then asked what the 20 dollars was for. I told him to see if there was any upgrades available and he kind of laughed half assed and then kept the money.
Arrived in Vegas at 9AM and headed straight for Hooter’s pool, at around 1PM we checked with the front desk, I put the $20 between my DL & CC and started chatting away about how great the pool was and wouldn’t a poolside bungalow be nice. The clerk see’s the $20, holds it out a little and asks “what’s this?” I said it’s a tip, you deserve it. She told us about the rooms and basically let us decide which type we would like. We weren’t offered a suite or anything but did get the room we wanted. frontdesktip rocks – I’ll be spreading the word.
Had the $20 in plain sight for the clerk and asked about any complimentary suite upgrades and was shot down. Asked how much for a suite upgrade and was told there were none available.
I really enjoyed the hotel and ended up with a nice strip view. The rooms were very nice, and it was a short walk to the Casino and out the door. Pool was decent, but nothing fancy. The only negative were the front desk clerks (and no, not because I didn’t get an upgrade) because they were slow, and there weren’t nearly enough of them to take care of the guests.
I had a comp an was told a mini suite wasn’t ready or I could have a regular room now. I choose the mini suite and waited. When I went back for my key I showed the 20 and asked if there were any upgrades available. I was told yes for 75 additional dollars. I took the mini suite which was nothingmore than a regular room with a view.
