Room Upgrade Reports

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Madison Premium View Room  from  Park Avenue Room

We arrived around 2pm on Sunday and literally just went to the next open agent. No real line so it went very quickly. My husband handed her the sandwich stack, stated he was here for business but brought his wife along (me) for pleasure and wanted to see if there were any complimentary room upgrades available. She put the $20 on her keyboard and said “Is this for me?” And my husband replied, “Of course.”. She was very very friendly and started typing away. She showed us how he had booked a Park Ave room and she was upgrading us to a Madison Ave Premium View room.

We were thrilled it worked but when we went to the room we were even more excited. The room is very large, it’s a corner room on the 15th floor. The view is beautiful, mountains, strip, and even the roller coaster.

It’s Vegas and we looked at this as our first gamble. It paid off for us, we are going to enjoy the next 5 days even more now!

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Unsure  from  Park Avenue Room

Went to the front desk, spoke to a friendly woman. She asked for my passport, then my bank card so I just gave her the bank card and said any upgrades will be appreciated. And gave a cheeky smile.

Was 5 of us, 2 rooms, 1 double bed in each with a sofa bed

Upgraded us to a strip view, 2 rooms connected to each other with a strip view. Really happy.

One thing I didn’t expect was the resort tax is per room per day so total was $600 but we signed up to the players points so hopefully by the end we will get them removed.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Broadway Deluxe w/ Strip View  from  Park Avenue Deluxe

We checked in on Sat. around 1:30 pm on Labor Day weekend so we weren’t really expecting to get an upgrade on a holiday weekend. There was a pretty good line but it went fast and we were lucky to get a young guy. I handed him the “sandwich” and he said “Oh, is this for me?”, I said yes and asked him if there were any complimentary room upgrades available. He said that he could upgrade me to the next level room with a strip view also. I thanked him and off we went to enjoy our vacation thanks to!!

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Madison Avenue  from  Standard

Flight arrived about 6:30 from Omaha, there was no wait in line. Handed the young clerk the sandwich. She smiled sheepishly and looked kind of shocked. Asked if the hotel was offering any complimentary room upgrades since my husband and I were celebrating our anniversary. She said she’d see what she could do. Upgraded us from a standard room to a Madison AVenue room with a very nice view of the mountains. Handed the $20 back to me and said it was complimentary and to have a nice anniversary! Score! 🙂

Tipped:  $50 Upgraded to  None  from  Basic

Checked in early, said I didn’t mind waiting until room was ready. Chatted for a bit about this and that while she was looking for a room that was ready. I asked for complimentary upgrade with a $50 in between my cards. She took off the daily resort fee but said she couldn’t do the room upgrade. She kept my $50 and that was that. It did save me money overall, but was not impressed. Next time, and I suggest a different hotel as well, I will just try a $20.

I had a basic room at NYNY, merely went to the first clerk available on a Monday afternoon, kindly put $20 between ID and credit card, and politely asked if any complimentary upgrades were available. She smiled, said she would check. First asked, if I was parking a car during my stay. I wasn’t. She then upgraded me to a room that had a nice view of the strip facing MGM, and parts of excalibur. Also a bigger room. Enjoyed it.

Tipped:  $100 Upgraded to  Park Avenue Room  from  Park Avenue Room

We checked in at 3pm on a Wednesday afternoon. Approximately 10min wait in the queue. Slid across 2x$50 notes and asked if there were any upgrades available. The clerk took the money and said she would see what she would do. While she appeared to try her best and seemed apologetic she ultimately gave us nothing and kept the tip. $100 down the drain, first gamble of the trip didn’t pay off!

We arrived on Friday around 7pm and got directed to a female clerk. Exchanged greetings and pleasantries, then handed over my ID and bank card with a $50 in between. I asked about any complementary upgrades and she answered back “We don’t do that here”. I said okay and plucked my $50 back.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Deluxe  from  Skyline

We checked in at about 10pm on a Friday night. There were two front desk employees working, I was hoping to get the older filipino lady( I have a lot of Filipino friends and I thought I could use that as an advantage) I ended up with the younger Hispanic lady. I told her my name, she asked for my ID, and credit card, I handed it to her while holding a $20 bill in my hand. I asked if there were any COMPLIMENTARY upgrades, she smiled, and said she would see what they had available. She ended up upgrading us to a room that was three levels higher than what we reserved. It wasn’t facing the strip but, it had a special elevator that went from the lobby, to the 30th floor and above, which ended up being super convenient not having to wait with the people on the lower floors. I felt like a high roller. We had a GREAT 1st anniversary thanks to the sandwich trick!
