Checked in at 11:00am on Saturday. Did the trick as described and the 20 disapeared in a hurry. He Worked very hard and finally handed our keys to us and said he had reserved us a corner suite in the west wing of the 25th floor. Long walk down the hall to the room but SUCCESS,
2 for 2 at the Mirage on a Sunday afternoon 5:00ish. 2 different clerks. One male clerk and the other a young female. Both were very quick to upgrade, on the spot, a small(petit) suite to a large tower suite and a regular room to the 23rd floor pool side with a complementary bottle of champange sent to the room later.
Checked in at 7:30pm on a Friday night. The front desk wasn’t very busy. A young female desk clerk waived us over to the ‘invited guest’ area which I thought would give me a better chance because we were separated from the other guests checking in. Then I saw the button on her lapel that indicated she was in training. She gladly took my tip and proceeded to tell me that because it was a busy weekend, she couldn’t do anything for me. I didn’t sweat it at this point because I’ve been told that before only to end up in a suite. Our room ended up on the 21st floor at the end of the west wing hallway. A view of the Trump tower and a block-long walk to the room. Absolute Failure.
Booked Deluxe Room. Checked in after 4:00. Did tip trick and got Tower Deluxe Room (I think). Was on 28th floor, designated elevators, separate shower/whirlpool bath, double sink. Very happy!
Checked in on labor day. We got to the hotel at noon and they were slammed with people checking out after the holiday weekend so we waited until around 4PM to check in to help our odds of an upgrade. They were still very busy. Only young female clerks working – so we picked one and my husband went for it. We specifically asked if a suite was available. She said they were all sold out (which we know they weren’t from the website which showed tons of suites available) but offered us a deluxe room, big bathroom, special elevator with a strip view. And some champagne showed up in our room later as well. We were pleased with how it went. Thanks for the great website!!!
I’ve been doing this for the last few years and have always had some success…at The Mirage I placed a 20.00 bill under my credit card and told the clerk that my wife and I were celebrating our anniversary while staying with them.
The Clerk took the credit card and didn’t bat an eye as she went to work on her computer to find a room.
I remember reading online that the usual upgrade is for the 24-25th floor. So when we received our keys I noticed it was on the 24th floor…woohoo, success!
It was a wonderful room with turn down service every night.
I really like that the elevator only goes to the 24-25th floor.
Went up to the front desk and slipped the $20 with my license and asked for any compliemtary upgrades. She was unable to get us a suite bc they were full but she did upgrade us to the 23rd floor with a great view of the strip. She also provided us with line passes to the resturants at the mirage and gave us 5 vip passes to JET nightclub. IMO it was a SUCCESS
WORKED LIKE A CHARM. 27-ISH FEMALE WITH LONG STARIGHT BRUNETTE HAIR. CHECKED IN AT 230PM. SHE WAS NOT SHOCKED TO SEE A $20 TWOMP. WE ASKED SPECIFICALLY FOR A ROOM WITH JACUZZI KNOWING IT WOULD BE ON 24-25TH FLOOR. MENTIONED IT WAS 30TH BIRTHDAY AND CHAMPAGNE WAS SENT TO THE ROOM WITHIN 15 MINUTES OF CHECK-IN. NOT A GREAT VIEW, BUT WHO CARES? SWEET ARRANGEMENT. TRY EATIGN AT SAMBA’S.
what a great experience. we checked in around 10:30 a.m. I figured since we were staying for the week to go with 50. I put it inbetween my i.d. and crdiet card and before I got “are there any comps….” she asked if a suite with the strip/pool view would do? And of course it would as did the 1100sq ft of living space we moved into. Thanks again Carla.
Hispanic female; i gave her the $20 with the ID and CC; she said “is this for me?”. I said yes, and she said thanks. She tried to upsell me on upgrades to suites; I asked if any complimentary ones were available. She went in the backroom for several minutes and then came back and said there weren’t any. She said she could offer me a pool view, which I didn’t consider an upgrade. I asked for line passes to the buffet; she forgot to give them to me with my room keys, and I had to ask again.
