Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Luxury suite pyramid  from  Queen pyramid

We checked in at about 11am on a Monday. The line was long so we didn’t target anyone, just went with the next available clerk. We used the sandwich trick with a 20 and asked about upgrades. I told her me and my husband were there for our 10 year anniversary (which was true). She talked to her manager and upgraded us from a regular queen to a spa suite! She even gave us back our 20.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Pyramid Suite  from  Pyramid Deluxe Room

– Which clerk did you target and why?
I was called in by a random clerk in her twenties.

– What time/day was it?
Saturday at 4:30pm.

– What did you say to get upgraded?
Upon being called up, I greeted the clerk with a warm smile and told her I was checking in. She asked me for my ID & CC and I asked \”I was wondering if you had any complimentary upgrades available\”. She saw the $20 bill and said \”Let me check that for you\”. We made small talk about the weather and she upgraded me from the most basic room to a suite with a hot tub (which we overflowed later that night, but that\’s another story).

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Jacuzzzzzzzzeeeeeee Suite Top Floor, Great Room  from  Standard

It was easy, tip was presented as recommended and the clerk smiled and said one moment please. His next comment was I hope you like heights. My answer was “I love heights, I just out of perfectly good airplanes so I’ll feel right at home” It was the second floor from the top and it was so nice not having so many rooms on the floor. Great time !

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Premier Suite Plus adjoining standard room  from  Two adjoining Tower rooms, standard issue

We actually got comped for one room and got the players discount for the other on our reservation with a casino host.

My first time trying the sandwhich, we got in at around 11pm, the normal line was long, but the MLife players club was only 3 deep. The woman behind the desk was great, took the money very subtley and proceeded to work and work to find the right upgrade, even calling another agent for help at one point. There were 4 of us booked, so she was trying to get us 4 beds, but with the couch etc, we just took the Single King premier and that was that. Great room, literally cost us $300 for the weekend w/ the comps, and I’m not a big high roller. I promise.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Pyramid Suite 25th Floor  from  Standard room

Went to Vegas with 3 friends. My buddy heard about this trick from a friend of his who stayed at the Cosmo. My friend was the first to try it out of our group of 4. He walked up to the front desk clerk with the “sandwich” ($20 bill between his ID and his CC) and asked the clerk if they had any suites available (We all booked standard rooms through Priceline). He said they did and got an upgrade to a Pyramid suite on the 25th floor. He signal for the rest of us to do the same and we lined up behind him all with our sandwiches ready and each got an upgrade. 20 minutes later we each had a Pyramid suite and the clerk was $80 richer.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  NONE  from  Double Pyramid Tower

Got to the Luxor around 10:45am and there was already a long line that wrapped the lobby area to check in. All stations were open and there were at least 2-3 managers working the front. I figured I would try the sandwich trick. By the time it was my turn, I was assisted by a young male in his late 20’s with dark hair. I told him I was checking in for 4 nights, and when he asked for my credit card and ID, I gave him the sandwich and before I could even get out my question on upgrades he quickly game me my $20 back in plain sight. I was a bit bummed since this trick has worked for me in the past but not too disappointed since he remained polite and offered to get me a strip view at no charge. I believe I just went at a time when it was too busy with too many managers working the front. This minor failure won’t stop me from trying this the next time I am in Vegas! This time Lady Luck was not on my side….oh well! Good luck to the rest of you.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Tower Deluxe  from  Pyramind Queen

The line was ridiculously busy at 4pm. We got an older Asian female who told us they had just changed software on their computers. There were lots of managers around so I thought it wouldn’t work. That and we had booked our vacation on southwest. We had the cheapest room available. I gave her the sandwich and told her it was my buddy’s bachelor party and would like a complimentary upgrade. She said let me check, saw the sandwich, placed the $20 aside and upgraded us!

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  tower delux king bed  from  pyramid delux queen beds

My husband and I arrived at the LUXOR on a Tuesday at 3:00pm. We did not have our choice of clerk because there were a lot of people in line. We got a young girl (early twenties) and I gave her my sandwich with the $20 partly showing. I asked if there were any complimentary upgrades available. She held up my twenty dollar bill and said “I can’t take bribes….but I can take tips for giving you good service. Is this a tip?” I said yes its a tip and she immediately said she had an upgrade available. She even gave us a choice of which view we wanted. Thanks a bunch to this sight…I will use this “trick” every time I go to Vegas!!!!!

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Player Deluxe Room  from  Pyramid Deluxe King Room

Checked in at 9pm on a Saturday night and there was hardly a line. My wife didn’t stand with me and I took the clerk that was given. She was a local and was a having a good time with me about how much I drank on the plane and how my wife was standing at the other end of the counter because she was embarrassed about asking for an upgrade. So, then I presented the $20 sandwich and politely said, “I know i’m in a pyramid room but if you could find anything better, I’d really appreciate it.” She feverishly typed away and gave me a 2x upgrade.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Player Deluxe room (King)  from  Pyramind Deluxe (queen)

Yes the trick actually worked. It was about 3pm on thursday (Stayed 3 nights just this week)and the line was actually full. I did not target anyone as i took the first open person. It was a male about mid 20’s. I told him my last name he asked for the my id and cc, and i placed a 20 in between that he saw. I said hey do you have any free upgrades for me. He started typing away, and he left for 2 minutes to talk to someone, then came back and continued to type. He said looks like we do. I got the Players deluxe room which was an upgrade from my pyramid deluxe room( I actually got to see the room i originally booked as a friend stayed over) Our room came equipped with a 40 inch plasma with boss speakers, updated looking room, marbled bathroom with separate shower and jet tubs, Fridge and coffee maker wetbar, free internet, and a sofa vs. the original room which had a 27 inch box tv, worned out looking, no fridge, coffee maker, wetbar, internet, no seperate shower and tubs.
