I was unsure if it would work….but tried it anyways AND IT WORKED….just folded $20.00 and put it on top of reservation paperwork with id….STRIP VIEW RECOMMENDED ALWAYS
Put $20 in passport, check in person was very friendly and offered us a complimentary suite and vouchers for buffet for 2. Not that scary!
Um… so the $20 tip trick worked, but then again it didn’t? The reason why i am unsure is because I did the trick but clerk didn’t take it. I placed the $20 in between my id and credit card and handed it over. I asked if there were any upgrades availible, i got an upgrade to double queen bed tower room with soaking tub, (real nice). The clerk also gave me 2 free passes to the buffet for either morning or night, (would have been better if the food was better). But after he returned my ID and credit card, the $20 was still there sandwiched inside. So he didnt take the money but i still got a deal. I wonder if the upgrades would have been given even with out the tip…hmmmm.
Didn’t target any specific Clerk. Me and my friends arrived at about 8:30 pm. We had to wait about 10-15 minutes in line.
I kindly asked if we can get a room on a higher floor.
I’ve booked 2 pyramid rooms (through a special offer) and got upgraded to 2 pyramid deluxe rooms.
I tried this and it worked …sort of. We stayed 4 nights, Thursday- Monday. The lady said that if it was one or two nights it would be free but we could upgrade to a suite for 25$ a night. Then she gave us a 20$ motel credit too.All in all it worked out pretty well since our room cost was about 40$ per night before the upgrade.
Did the $20 sandwich. Kindof messed it up since my girlfriend was the one handing the ID, but I was the one talking. Clerk knew the jig and gave us an upgrade. Worked really well even though we fumbled a bit
My friends and I like to drive in from LA late at night to avoid traffic. I booked a standard 2 queen pyramid room using my MLife points, so my room was $39 (w/o resort fees). It was my 3rd time doing the trick so I felt pretty confident and played the part when checking in. Simply gave her my ID and card with the $20 in between, and did not even have to say anything besides asking how she was doing. Given it was 1am on a Thursday night and we were checking out the next day, if any rooms were open they were not going to be used that night. She told us what room we booked, and where she was going to put us. We were upgraded to a suite with a hot tub on the 20th floor, and also waived our $15 parking. Pretty good deal if you ask me.
The clerk asked for my ID and credit card. I had the $20 ready and between the ID and the card. I handed them to her and she immediately slid the $20 back to me. I said “I was hoping you could check to see if there are any complementary upgrades available” and she said “there are upgrades available but you will have to pay the difference”. She seemed to be offended and did not make any small talk with us and was not friendly at all. She never asked why we were there, which happened to be for our 20th wedding anniversary. So I was hoping we could get something comped, but we didn’t get anything. Very disappointing.
Thought I had no chance, Vegas was busy line was insane for check in due to EDC being on that weekend. Initially the lady found the $20 sandwiched between ID and credit card, she placed it on the counter and said sorry I can’t do much as we are so busy. I left the bill there and said no problem that’s for you! she was friendly and chatty and she suddenly said she managed to upgrade us to a suite facing the strip. Amazing!
we walked in really nervous and my girlfriend was sweaty. we put the $20 bill between the cards as the website said. we prepared it in line and approached the clerk. her name was Bri and we briefly made small talk, handed a sandwiched $20, and ask for any complimentary upgrades. she said she would check her system and found an upgraded room at the west tower with a king bed, from our original Queen bed in the pyramid, which is smaller. the room turned out to have been accidentally booked with another occupant. having had to return to the lobby they rebooked us properly on a higher floor along with complimentary buffet. frontdesktip turns out to be a success!
