Tipped:  $0 Upgraded to  PARADISE TOWER QUEEN  from  HOTEL TOWER

I had been told check in started at 4pm when I booked the reservations. I called the day of at noon and I asked if I could check in early and if I could get a room upgrade. They agreed to both and had my room ready and waiting when I arrived at 1pm. This was a Saturday. Always try calling first before you arrive. What could it hurt? If that doesn’t work then you can try the 20$ tip trick.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  HRH Pool View Suite  from  Casino Tower

I checked in late around 7PM on a Tuesday after a long flight from the East Coast. I walked up to the first clerk available, a younger guy and handed him the $20 between my ID and Credit card, and asked him if any complimentary room upgrades were available. He said, let me see what I can do. I had booked a Casino Tower room through an offer I received from the hotel for $19 a nite. He offered me a Paradise tower room first, but I politely asked if he could give me an HRH suite. He first said that would be an upgrade charge, but I talked up the long flight, and that I had worked in the morning and it would really make my trip if he could hook me up. He found me a suite in HRH! I was stoked…So I head off to the separate entrance to the HRH feeling like a rock star!..But to my surprise when I got into the room, it was a suite, but not one of the nicer suites in HRH, so I was a bit disappointed. I tried to lock my bankroll in the safe prior to heading down for a late dinner with my boys, who had hit vegas earlier in the day…but the safe wouldn’t lock. I saw this as a great opportunity. I went back down, to the different check in desk that is exclusive for the HRH, and explained to the different clerk that my safe didn’t work, and that they had given me a small suite, not the big HRH suite. I talked up the long flight again, and said if he could hook me up with a bigger suite with a pool view, that would make my trip. BINGO, he said no problem! I checked into the big suite with separate living room, built in room stereo, and the largest bathroom! So, I stayed in the HRH tower suite for 3 nites. The $20 sandwich works!

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Paradise Tower Pool View Queens  from  Casino Tower Mountain View Queens

Arrived at 6:30pm on a Tuesday evening, on my check-in date. Did the line, was not particularly busy, only a few people ahead of me. My turn came up and I chose whoever was available.
I chatted him up, asked how busy it was during the previous weekend and when he asked me for my DL and Credit Card I handed him my premade sandwich and said “do you have any complementary rooms available for upgrade?”
He grabbed my DL and Credit Card and cleverly put the 20 in his pocket. He typed away and found me a room.

Tipped:  $50 Upgraded to  Supreme Pool View Queen Suite - HRH Tower  from  Mountain View Queen - Casino Tower

Didn’t target any clerk, just spoke to a very friendly Filipino Girl at around 10am to check in and asked her if we could get any complimentary upgrades. Put the $50.00 in between my booking sheet, passport and credit card. Wasn’t able to check in straight away but when we came back at 3pm she advised us that we were upgraded to the HRH Suite. Massive Win.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  corner room very nice  from  Standard

To be honest is was very easy… It wasn’t busy when I checked in and I began by chatting up the girl at the front desk a bit, when she asked for my ID and credit card I slipped her the “Sandwich” and while doing it I asked in a pleasant voice, “Do you think you have any complimentary upgrades available?” and she said ” I’m sure I can find something”. She seemed very surpised for the $20 tip. I’m not in the penthouse, but I believe my $20 was money well spent!!! Great advice!

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Casino Tower Deluxe Suite Pool View  from  Casino Tower Standard Room Mountain View

It was a late birthday trip for my girl as she had just turned 22 on Oct 21 and I wanted this to be a special trip. I had already booked our room at the Hard Rock, but did a little research on getting room upgrades and found your site. We arrived in Vegas about 10:30am and decided to go ahead and pre-register. I already had the sandwich ready to go. I went to the first clerk that was available. She was an attractive girl maybe 24yrs old. I chatted her up a bit, telling her about my girl’s recent birthday. She asked for my ID and credit card. I handed her the sandwich and asked if there were any complimentry upgrades available. She took the sandwich and without any hesitation said “let me see what we have” She then said she could upgrade us to a deluxe suite with a pool view!…and we were able to check in early rather than wait around till 3p…so awesome. Initially I didn’t know if it would work because it was Halloween weekend and there were several big events going on that weekend, one being the UFC fight. All in all had a great time with an incredible room. Will definitely use this technique again!! Thank You!

Tipped:  $0 Upgraded to  Casino Tower - Pool View King  from  Casino Tower - Mountian View King

I’ve been upgraded 85% of the time I stay here by just being friendly and patient with the desk staff. I’ve haven’t tried the sandwich trick (most of the time, they upgrade me to the pool view of the same room I’ve booked without asking).

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Hollywood Hip w/ Fountain view  from  Hollywood Hip

I checked in at around 1PM on a Wednesday and I was staying until Sunday. I did not target anyone in particular but I got a very friendly african american girl. Her name started with an M, but Idon’t recall it exactly. I was very direct and walked up and said “is it true you guys cannot accept tips any more?” Her response was that she was new but had never heard that. So I said, quite obviously, “oh excuse me while I turn around” and I reached into my pocket. I intended to pass her a $50 sandwich, but she made it clear that they were EXTREMELY booked for the weekend I was there. I knew that was the truth because there was some music rave in town that was supposed to draw over 200K people. I requested specifically a room with two beds that were in different rooms (angling for a Panorama), She actually went in the back supposedly to ask what she could do, and came back to say the best she could do was a better view because they were so booked. But she was pretty clear about the fact that she would have done the Panorama if it were available. I had both a $50 bill and a $20 ready. I gave her the $20 because it was not much of an upgrade. But it did work and I guess they are still accepting tips at the PH. Good luck!

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Paradise Tower--Corner King w/ Pool and Strip views  from  Casino Tower

Checked in at 3 PM on a Sunday for 2 nights. Waited in line and got waved over by a managerial-looking lady, so I was a bit worried. Handed her the sandwich, asked for the free upgrade and she said she’d see what she could do. She asked if I’d like a bigger room in the older Casino tower, or something in a newer tower. I asked for the new tower. She gave me one of the best non-suite rooms in the hotel: corner king on the west side of the Paradise Tower, with views of the pool and the strip. That’s the 2nd time I’ve gotten a corner king with the $20 trick at the Hard Rock. Well worth the investment!
