At approximately 2:30 p.m. at the Rush Tower check in desk, was 2nd in line when I arrived. There were two clerks and I got a 20-30-something woman.

Handed her my $20 sandwich and she tossed it on the counter like she was allergic to it in one move, before I could even say anything. She did this before she even entered any information in the computer

I was booked in Carson tower and got Carson tower. Luckily my room was competed due to play from a previous stay. So it was no skin off my nose, free is free.

Got to hotel at 11. Check in isn’t until 3. I didn’t “target” any worker, just got who I got. I smiled and said hello. Asked if there were any rooms available for early check in or any complimentary room upgrades and set my “sandwich” on the counter. She grabbed my id and $20 discreetly and said she’d check. A minute later she said ok, looks like you booked Carson tower but we’ve put you in the Rush tower, bigger room. Gave me a bunch of coupons and my keys and we were off. I thanked her but without making a big show of it. Room was amazing! 4 hour early check in and great room upgrade!

My credit card sandwich was refused by the clerk, who clarified that they are not allowed to accept tips for any reason. I then presented a Landry’s select card (costs $25 at any restaurant owned by Landry’s, like McCormick & Schmick’s) and was told that got me the last upgrade available.

Skip the $20, go get a Landry’s Select card and use that instead. $20 may work if you have a more experienced and confident employee.

We checked in on a Friday afternoon. Gave the clerk ID, CC and $20. He upgraded us to the Rush tower, which was much nicer than the Carson tower. Very happy with the upgrade.

We were getting married at Golden Nugget booked a non-smoking room in the Rush Tower. We checked in about 9:30pm.

Presented a 20 dollar tip between cards to female clerk and was instantly refused.

Next time we are staying elsewhere due to poor service throughout stay.

We arrived mid afternoon after a real long flight from the east coast. While in line i made my sandwich and checked out the front desk staff. I noticed 2 really friendly ones. I let someone go ahead of me to i could get one of them. When i walked up i called her by her first name, there name tags also mention where they are from. I brought up a trip i had last year there. after some small talk she asked for my licence. While giving it to her i asked if they had any room upgrades availible. About 2 minutes later i went from a Rush Tower to a Spa Tower Suite. It was a great 4 night trip.

Well ; walked up to counter. Greeted her and as I handed her the sandwich I asked her if there were any upgrades available. She giggled and placed the sandwich down while she looked. When she found one she thanked me and flicked the 20 in her cubby and gave me my id back. Smooth and discreet.
We checked in at 3pm.

We arrived early Sunday afternoon. A couple of hours before check in. My wife was a little suspicious of the sandwich but agreed to the plan. Carson Tower Front desk was not open but was informed by a sign on the counter to go to Gold Tower front desk. We went to the Rush Tower front desk instead. We were met by a young man who said he could take care of us. I informed him we were checking in for a two night stay. I handed him my I.D., credit card, along with a twenty wedged in between them. Then I asked him if there were any complimentary upgrades available. He took the sandwich & said he would see what he could do. A few minutes later he said he was moving us to a deluxe guest room in the Rush Tower & we would be much happier with this room. We were very happy with the upgrade. Bigger rooms, robes, awesome bed, spacious sitting area/couch with a great view, and all in a fancier, quieter Tower. Thanks.

On a wednesday at noontime, next available clerk was a younger man. Had my bill pressed ever so tightly between my CC and DL.. Clerk could tell what was going on, let cards fall lightly on desk, and with his pinky finger tapped the $20 right under his keyboard (I have been practicing this at home). Received a nice upgrade for a 7 night stay.

Asked for an upgrade was told no , but I could purchase one for $20 for my two night stay. Got a view overlooking the pool.
