I approached the next reservationist in line. Gave her the “sandwich” to which she broadly smiled. It was early morning which may have not worked to my favor. She was very sweet and I asked for an early check in and a “extra nice room” (maybe a mistake in wording.)
She asked which side of the tower I preferred and indicated she had to “steal a room from someone else.” When I got there is was the same standard room as I had booked. I was disappointed and wondered what I had spent the $20 for. Next time I will be a little more specific, although this has worked for me in the past here doing it the same way.
at check in i put $20 in my passport with credit card and asked for comp upgrade. i was stoked when she put me in a jazuzzi suite on the 14th floor. Very nice room with huge tub in mini living room. IMHO….downtown is better for people looking to gamble, eat, and get your drink on for a lot cheaper without the “Strip” hoop-la.
Arrived about 8:00PM. This is probably the slowest week of the year in Vegas, right after the rodeo leaves town, so I had high hopes. Slipped her the $20 sandwich and asked if there were any complementary upgrades available. She never changed her expression, and even apologized because it was a smoking room. Ended up with a 2 room suite with a huge jacuzzi in the living room, 14th floor.
I was very surprised how easy it is. We arrived on 3pm and headed to the first available clerk at the desk. A very friendly black female (age 25-30) asked us about the passports. I gave here my prepared pp with the 20$ bill between the first page & hardcover. At the same time i said: “Is it possible to get a room upgrade?”.
She recognized the bill, smiled and said: “Let me see what i can do.”
A few minutes later she gave us the keycards to our petite remodeled King Size Suite with couch, kitchen and many more extras you don’t get in a normal room.
I’ll definitely stay there again during my next trip.
Myself and two buddies were checking into two rooms at 4pm on a Saturday. All of the clerks were young ladies. I used the sandwich and asked if any complementary upgrades were available. Not only did she give me a suite, she moved my friends into a nice quiet room nearby. She asked if they minded sharing a single bed. They opted for two beds, otherwise I believe she would have upgraded them as well.
Arrived around 6pm for a 4 night stay at the Four Queens hotel/casino. 3 clerks were working the desk. I offered the “sandwich” to the clerk and asked for a complimentary room upgrade. She typed for awhile into her computer before going to talk to another clerk (or maybe manager). She came back looked a little more, and then very apologetically told me that she could not upgrade me due to alot of Woodstock tribute activities occurring this weekend on Fremont Street. The best part…she returned the $20!! That was unexpected. I thanked her for trying and for returning the tip. I could tell that she really wanted to upgrade me, but just couldn’t under the circumstances. My first “PUSH” while in Vegas came at the check-in desk. Unfortunately, there were not very many more pushes (or wins) for that matter for the remainder of the trip.
Upon check in, asked for a comp. upgrade. She looked and said there were none. She mentioned there was a big slot tourny which was most likely the problem. She said any other time would be okay. She sounded legitimate. Maybe next time. Sorry as I am typing this in my 4 Queens room righr now on my phone.
Said it was my first time staying there. Gave the “sandwich” to her. She said, “Oh, I’m sure you will like this room”…and laughed all the way to the bank. Lost my first bet in Vegas, and kept losing.
1st time to try here. Very nice young lady waited on me and I just asked and told her it was my 20th wedding anniversary. Very nice suite.
Worked for 2 couples, back to back. Reservations through airline.
