Got to the Flamingo around 1am in the morning and there was 2 desk clerks and 3 people ahead of me in line. One clerk was a very attractive spanish woman and the other was an older woman. I got the older woman. I stepped to the counter and the clerk asked for my ID and the voucher i had printed for the room. I had my wad of money my ID and voucher in the same hand as i asked her if she had a free complimentary upgrade. She said it is sold out because of the country awards \”wink wink\”. Then she proceeded to type profusely for the next 5 minutes and told me she found a GO ROOM with strip view. Thats when i handed her my credit card with $20.My friends paid $30 a night for same upgrade. Don\’t think just do it. Nothing to lose
We were unable to target any specific clerk. Our flight was 3 hours late, so we arrived at 9.30pm on a Thursday night. The Flamingo was exceptionally busy due to the Rodeo Finals but the woman gratefully noticed our $50 note as we enquired if there were any complementary upgrades available and quickly upgraded us to a 26th floor Strip view Go room directly opposite Caesars Palace and we were also able to view the Bellagio fountains nightly! We gave $50 as we were staying 2 weeks. Go rooms are far superior to Fab and have a fridge, CD/DVD player, largescreen TV and even buttons to open and close your net curtains and drapes! Go on, ask for an upgrade, provide a sandwich, they can only say no, but we have never failed yet!
Arrived at check in around 11 Am. No line at all. Had the $20.00 sandwich ready & asked the clerk if there were any upgrades available. Possibly a room with a view of The Bellagio fountain. To my surprise we received a Go Room on the 17th floor looking straight at them. Who says you can’t upgrade to a Go Room? It happens! Still batting 6 out of 6 on upgrades .Thanks frontdesktips.com
Didn’t target clerk but used the Total Rewards Gold Card line (which is the entry level for TR so all you need to do is sign up for a TR card). It was a Friday right about noon. There was a small wait for the regular check-in line, and no wait in the TR Gold line. I handed her the sandwich with a $20 inside, and before I could even ask the money was gone, she smiled at me, and started typing away. Bad news is that it was Halloween and Jimmy Buffett weekend so all GO rooms, and GO suites, were booked, but she did upgrade us to the executive floor (28) and we got a front strip view, so facing Caesars but we could also see Belagio fountains and north up the strip. Was hoping for a GO room, but got a great price for the 3 nights we were there so the extra $20 was worth it. What was best was she was on board from the second she saw the tip and was really trying to help us. She did order us a small fridge to be brought into the room for free which was nice for beer and left-over breakfast.
We checked in early 10:00 am on a Sunday line was fairly busy so we did not get much choice who checked us in,the employee was in her early twenties and very friendly so I gave her the $20 sandwich and asked if they had any complimentary room upgrades and she immediately started to type and told us we can give you a room on the 27th floor with a view of the strip, great view but the room had seen better day’s but considering we had 5 nights comped the$20 dollars was worth it.
Couldn’t really “target” a front desk clerk. Was called forward by a man who had a pin with a hand on it. When asked he said it was given to him for his customer service (as in an applause hand). Gave him the sandwich, with my ID and cc. Told him I booked a Fab room but would like an Go room, if possible. After typing a while, he said he needed to check with his supervisor. He went into the back room for quite a while. Came back and just kept typing. He told me that his supervisor approved the request. Room was spectacular! 19th floor, close (but not too close) to the elevator, amazing view of the Bellagio fountains and the south Strip, fridge, tv in bathroom mirror. 42″ flatscreen. Perfect in every way.
We arrived at 2 a.m. and still had to wait in line about 45 minutes for check-in. I checked in with the first available clerk. A pleasant looking 30-something woman. We have stayed at the Flamingo many times and have always preferred the Go Rooms. This time, I researched reviews of Flamingo suites, which indicated the Executive Suites are overrated but the smaller Go Mini Suites are OK. So, I slipped the clerk $20 between my ID and credit card and asked specifically for if a complimentary upgrade to a Go Mini Suite was available. She did some typing on the computer and voila! I’ll try this trick every time I go to Vegas!! Our mini suite overlooked the pool area and was far larger/nicer than our friends Go Rooms!!
I sandwiched a $50 and asked for any complimentary room upgrades. The clerk was very friendly and although we didn’t get an upgraded room (because we had booked a Fab room and received a Fab Room), we did receive a room on the 27th floor with a strip view. First time in 11 visits we have a strip view. He also comp’d us a refrigerator for our room and also gave us a $30 credit for food to use anywhere in hotel. Then he gave us a coupon booklet that saved us over a hundred dollars on food and beverages. All and all it was well worth the $50.
Checked in in the total rewards line as we read online that the line is much faster and shorter to do so. We are not big gamblers so our upgrade had nothing to do with that. Didnt target anyone but we worked with a very nice older lady. When she asked for id and CC, I handed her the $20 sandwich and asked if there were any complimentary upgrades available. She said she would certainly check. As she picked up the id and saw the $20 she put the $20 in her pocket and said “I think we can get you a Go room with a premium view” She did have trouble locating a King bed as requested for us to check into immediately, but offered to give us one with 2 queens that was available right away. We went ahead and took the two queens. One other bonus was I had heard Flamingo charges a fee for early check in. $20 sandwhich eliminated that as well! Our room had a great view of the strip and Ceasars. We can even see the Bellagio fountains! Better than the rooftop we are used to!
mid-week, 2 night stay, during a slow time but got an upgrade to a Go room king on the 25th floor with a great view of the Bellagio fountains. Room was great. Hotel clerk was very nice.
