Gave the $20 sandwich. First she checked and said ti would be $20 per mite extra for the upgrade. I said – oh is that the best you can do?? She spoke to the manager and told us she would waive the $20 per night fee. Very nice room!!
Checked-in during the middle of the afternoon rush around 3:30pm on a holiday weekend (MLK Saturday). Clerk took $20, looked for an available room, and offered my an upgraded room with a view. only catch was that the bathroom was accessible, meaning rails along the wall, and no tub, just a larger stand-up shower. actually worked out better with larger space.
Checked in around 9pm at VIP services. Asked for a comp upgrade and the clerk asked if it was my birthday, told him it wasn’t and I just wanted a nice tv. He told me it was full till I placed the 20 on the table, he took another look and got me into a room with the plasma tv and a view.
To answer the person below, I don’t think it matters if the original stay is a comp. I was staying on a 3 night comp.
placed $20 between DL&CC and placed on counter. he took the DL and saw the $20 on top of the CC and left it plain sight. I asked if there were any upgrades. He said “no, i’m sorry. i can’t do anything for you, we’re completely sold out. we are at 102% capacity.” never took the $20 or touched my CC since the room was prepaid.
Tried the $20 trick as described, had the bill sandwiched between creditcard and ID. Woman said no complimentary upgrades available. I wasn’t sure if part of the issue was that I was staying there since I had a offer from Excalibur for 3 free nights and that’s why she couldn’t do anything. People never really say if they book with a free offer.
still got an old room with a strip view kinda shoot my self in the foot cuz i asked for smoking room i guess other wise i would have gotten a reno room i belive
Told the clerk that it was my brother’s 21st birthday (no lie) and asked if she could possibly give us a room with a view (as I handed her the cards/tip). She said she’d look. Went through the process. She didn’t confirm one way or another, but did move the 20. Gave us our keys, wished us well. We went up to our rooms, pleasantly surprised. Probably the best gamble you can do in Vegas.
Put the $20 in between the ID and the card and asked if any upgrades were available. She said she’d go ask, and when she came back, told us about the widescreen room for $20. I asked “per night?” and she covered her mouth and said, “no, I’m giving it to you free.” She hadn’t even seen the $20! When she did, she asked what it was for. She was so excited when I told her it was for her.
Husband slipped the 20 and asked if there was any upgrades for our anniversary. She went to talk to her manager and gave us a view of the pool and the new remodeled room with the 42″ plasma. Worth it because my husband loved watching the sport channel.
the usual, for excalibur.
she said she had some suites available, but since we’re travel in a party and suite only has a king bed, we couldn’t take it.
will definitely be back to try the suite!
