I checked in maybe a little early, i had to wait in line, then i get this asian teller, she had no clue what i was talking about… then i had to break it down to her, she found an “upgrade” wich i took anyways cause thats where i wanted to be… will definitly try again sometimes!
Said that all the rooms were filled and that they were not able to provide us with any upgrades. Gave us an option of upgrading with $20 extra each night. First time in vegas and was sad it did not work but i’ll try again the next time I go.
Placed the $20 bill between ID and credit card and asked if there were any complimentary room upgrades. I did not think it would work as there was a huge conference and this was one of the “official” hotels. I was upgraded to a “Strip View Room.”
Tipping cost me 1/3 of the rate if I would have reserved a view room!!!
I gave the 20 inside my passport with my credit card and asked for complimentary upgrades. The very young lady said that there weren’t any suites available but that she has a Stip View Deluxe available.
the girl handed it back to me and didn’t understand what i was asking for. I was able to talk to some people after for free and get a strip view at least. but really no upgrade for the tip trick
I traveled in a group of four and reserved two rooms in a package deal through Northwest World Vacations. Unfortunately, we didn’t get there till late on Friday night, so everything was booked and sold out. I handed the guy $40 plus our ids and CCs and asked for any complimentary upgrades. All that was available was the deluxe rooms which are a little bigger with a seating area. The bathrooms were also quite large, but I don’t know how they compared to the Tower Rooms. Since we got there so late, I think we probably got a bad deal. But it did work again. I tried getting the guy to throw in some comps for food or shows, but he didn’t get what I was hinting at.
A last minute weekend trip coming from Southern CA. We knew it would be crowded due it being a sold out UFC weekend but decided to try the trick anyways. We checked in about midnight Friday/Sat morning. The check in line was packed. Got a nice young guy and made small talk with him. When he asked for my credit card I had the $20 underneath it but enough for him to see. I asked if there were any upgrades and he said all they had left were upgrades so it would be free anyways. i asked him if he had any suites available and he said “As a matter of fact I have 1 left at $100 extra a night”. I kind of tapped the credit card on the counter and said “even with this tip”. He was quiet for amoment and said he would go talk to his manager. I watched him and saw his manager shake his head yes. I ended up getting the suite for only $50 extra a night. I consider this a success because of it being a sold out weekend. My normal room rate $115 and my girlfriend and I would have been stuck with 2 queen beds. Great suite and thanks for all the info in this forum
It worked great for me at the Excalibur this past weekend. I handed the girl at the desk my credit card with the 20, she put the 20 on the desk and she upgraded me to a deluxe room. She said that there weren’t any suites available for nights I was there.
