Stood in line for what felt like forever. Got up to the counter and had my $20 sandwiched between my credit and license. The man took my cards and the $20 popped out and he said for me and I said yes and he said let me see what I can do for you. I am going to upgrade your room to a suite in the Augustus Tower/waive early check in/waive resort fees. All I did was slip him the $20 have chit chat and presto whamo upgraded to a super nice ro with no fees. I walked out of the line like a champ!!

Saved:  $1000 Tipped:  $50 Upgraded to  Caesars Executives Suites  from  Octavius Tower Deluxe

Got to the check-in desk around 2:00 pm. There was one huge line, so no one could be targeted. I ended up getting a young guy in his early to mid 20s. After giving my credit card and drivers license, I asked what possible rooms are available. I wanted either a suite or a strip view room in the Augustus tower. He eventually found a Studio Suite in the Palace Tower and a 2 queen strip view room in the Augustus tower. I mentioned the possibility of having an Augustus Executive Suite instead, and he returned to the back room to talk to inventory. He came out 5 minutes later saying that that it could only be had for $250 extra per night (down from $500/night). I declined and settled on the Augustus room. Almost right as we completed the paperwork, a lady from inventory came out and said that the suite was mine for free! Ended up being on the 41st floor, with only two rooms separating it from the strip end of the building!

Saved:  $~$1200 Tipped:  $40 Upgraded to  Augustus Tower Deluxe  from  Forum Tower Deluxe

I usually do the $20 sandwich every time I’m in Vegas. Since I went during a slow weekend and had a comped room, I figured I would try $40. I handed the 25-ish gentleman my card and ID with the money in between. He saw it, said ‘Thank you’ and asked me what I was looking for. I asked him if he had a room on a high floor with a large soaking tub in the Octavius or Augustus tower . He said he had the perfect room. He told us that we were one floor from the top (44th floor) of the Augustus Tower with a strip view. The room was incredible and had a view of the Bellagio fountains.

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Unsure  from  Octavius Tower Deluxe

I was debating whether or not to request upgrade. We already had a comped room in Octavius tower, but thought why not try? I didn’t hand the lady the $20 but kept it visible and asked if there were any complimentary upgrades available to celebrate our anniversary. She stepped away for a minute and when she cane back she said she got us a mini suite in the Palace Tower. It was over 750 sf. With 2 bathrooms and view of pool. Was not disappointed!

We arrived around 12:30AM and there was a surprising number of people in line. They have one big line and when you get to the front you go to the next available clerk, so I really didn’t have the option to choose. Although I spotted a young girl who I wish could have checked me in. When I got to the front of the line guess what? Yup I got her. I had put $40 between my license and credit card and handed them both to her. She immediately saw it when she separated them and said, is this for me? I said yes and asked if they had any complimentary upgrades. She said she would see what she could do as she typed away on her computer. She said she needed to go to the back to get me taken care of, and came back shortly after. We laughed and talked about a bunch of things and she finally said that she had gotten me a larger room in the palace tower. She did say that if people would just be polite and nice like I was it would really go a long way when they asked for favors. I had booked a Julius Deluxe and waa upgraded to a Palace premium. Not a huge upgrade but the room is very nice. A wonderful bathroom and a very comfy bed that I’m typing this from now!

Saved:  $$500 Tipped:  $40 Upgraded to  Augustus Tower Deluxe  from  Forum Tower Deluxe

Arrived after midnight and there was a small line for check in. There were kiosks for quick check in as well as online checkin but we opted to talk to a front desk agent. There was only one agent attending to the line without any membership. I gave her $40 sandwich without saying anything and she put it aside and already said I’ll see what I can do for you without me asking. She upgraded us to the Augustus Tower overlooking the Bellagio Fountains. It seemed like normal practice and thankfully we tried!

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  August Tower Luxury  from  Forum Tower Deluxe

My wife and I checked in 1.00pm on a Monday. We were only in Vegas for a short
4-night stay. My wife was very skeptical about the twenty dollar trick, so much so we nearly had an argument in the line. I aimed for one of the two young clerks at the desk. I just smiled, handed over the sandwich, said hello politely. She immediately saw the $20 bill, started to type and click away furiously. We had small talk throughout and she ended up upgrading us to the August Towery Luxury room.

We checked in around 1:30PM and there was a short line so we just went to the first available clerk. When handing her the sandwich and asking for the Palace Tower, she said “Let me see what I can do” and walked into the back. Minutes later she came back and made small talk as she was typing away. Sure enough, we got a Palace Tower room with a Strip view.

Tipped:  $100 Upgraded to  Frank Sinatra Grand Piano Suite  from  A basic tower room

Hi guys, I am from Australia and 3 years ago a couple of days before new year my friends and I checked into Caesars to bring in the new year! We had already booked an average room that was a splurge on our budget. We decided after reading different stories that we would chip in a bit more and present a $100 bill to give us a better chance of the upgrade. We approached the clerk in her early 30’s and cheekily slipped the note in between the CC and ID. Before we knew it she had the money between her legs and started typing away. She then opened the folder and flicked to the back where we saw our room. The frank Sinatra grand piano suite was our home for the next 5 days. Big 3 bedroom room with marble stairs and double doors at the entrance. 2 bathrooms and everything out of a movie… A $2500 a night room for a measly Benjamin sandwich. Best deal of my life and will continue to tell this story every time I talk bout Vegas… Can’t hurt to try it!!!

Saved:  $200 Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Palace Tower Premium Room  from  Forum Tower Deluxe

We arrived at Caesars at ~11:30 am. There was a line of 20 people waiting to check in. The Caesars hosts kept offering online checkin – but I wanted to try the sand which. Waited 10 minutes on line. There were 3 older women, one young guy, and a young woman. We got the you woman. She asked
For I’d and cc, I handed her both with a $20 in between. She took the 20 and set it to the side. I told her we were celebrating our 20th anniversary, and asked if she could check if
a complimentary upgrade was available. She said she’d be happy to check. She upgraded us to a palace tower room on 17th floor, pool view. She also waived the $30 early checkin fee. Not sure how much was the $20, and how much was the anniversary – but we had booked the cheapest forum room available – and the room was really nice. I check online and the difference in price from the room we booked to the room we got was over $200 for the length of our stay. Well worth the $20. And honestly – even if we didn’t get it I felt like I was already gambling just with the attempt. Felt like the Vegas I see in the movies. Awesome…
