Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Lakeview Suite  from  Deluxe

This sight is awesome! Tried slipping the tip in between the cards…at first no rooms were available (still being cleaned). The desk clerk called a manager and upgraded us to a Spa Tower Suite-with a caveat-due to construction next door, the power would not be on for another 45 minutes.NO PROBLEM!!! Due to special occasion, also received a coupon for fragrance. Men’s fragrance being discontinued, so received a full bottle, instead of a sample,as well as samples of the woman’s fragrance. They sure know how to treat their guests!!!(Desk clerk even asked if I wanted change!)

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Tower Deluxe Corner Room  from  Stadard Room, non lake view

After reading about all this here, we decided to try it with the twenty between the DL and CC…We got to the Hotel about 5:30 pm, and lines were light, we scoped out a younger female clerk, who looked friendly. I asked her if they had any complimentry upgrades available, she took my cards and the twenty, and set the money on the counter right by the computer. She asked me what I was looking for. I mentioned either a lakeview, or a Tower Deluxe (helps to research the room types beforehand, which I did). She said she could do a lakeview, or a Tower Deluxe, but the Tower Deluxe would be a pool view…which was fine, and worth it. We took that.. It’s a corner room, quite bigger, with two windows (one on each side) and a separate whirlpool tub with a big window there too….and she gave us a “line pass” to use at the buffet during our stay…Glad I found this site!

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Lakeview Tower Deluxe  from  Standard Deluxe

Thought our upgrade chances were slim because the hotel appeared to be booked when I checked online. Decided to try for one of the renovated rooms anyway. We checked in at 9:45AM and I placed the $20 between my credit card and ID, and asked if we could get a higher floor or one of the newly renovated rooms. The clerk put the $20 aside, and said, “Well, I think a view would be nicer.” Who could argue with that? We were offered a corner room with a jacuzzi tub and a view of Caesar’s immediately. Or if we were willing to wait 2 hours, we could have a corner lakeview room with a jacuzzi tub. We definitely waited!

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  16th floor center overlooking the fountains  from  Standard

I was a bit apprehensive about doing this, but then I figured they could only say no. It was 12:30 P.M. I put the $20 in between my credit card and license when I walked up to the counter… asked if there were any complimentary upgrades available….he noticed the money…had a hard time finding anything….asked me if the money was for him….I told him, “It sure is.” He asked me to come back in two hours to give him time to find something… I returned at 2:30 and he told me he had a fabulous room for me (and my mom). He described the room and I gave him another $10 when I left the desk. It was the best room ever….beautiful view….gorgeous everything…..I’d do it again in a minute. It worked!

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Lakeview Room  from  Deluxe Room

With my wife hiding, mortified, in the lobby… I make my first attempt to upgrade a room on the cheap. I hand the clerk a CC/$20/ID sandwich. Without blinking, she has the $20 in her pocket. I barely get the chance to fumble out the words, “Do you …uh… have any available upgrades?…”, before she says that we are upgraded to a lakeview room, normally a $50/night value! Bottom line: Winner!

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  Tower Deluxe  from  Lakeview

Offered tip and asked if there were any suites available. After much typing and conversing on the phone, she said no, but that a Tower Deluxe room was available. We took it, though we didn’t know exactly what that meant. It means Room #28042: window facing east, window facing south, window in bathroom facing south, and more room. Definitely worth it!

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  14th Floor Lakeview  from  Basic King Room

Put the Jackson in between my 2 forms of ID and asked if there were any complimentary upgrades at this time. Not sure what we were getting before but they put us up on the 14th floor with the lakeview. Told her it was our honeymoon, but no free gifts for that I guess. Pretty busy at the time too. Happy that it worked though!

Tipped:  $20 Upgraded to  lakeside view  from  standard room

Crystal was the person who checked me in. I handed her the $20 between my DL and CC and asked about any complimentary upgrades available…maybe a lakeside view. She found a room in the spa tower that faced the lake…and said if I wanted to call the desk after 3 there would be more rooms availabe ….but the view from the spa tower was fine.

Tipped:  $100 Upgraded to  Fountain View  from  Free Room - no view

First it did not work, then it worked the second time. Here’s what happened. We checked in on Saturday around noon and it was super busy. We waited around scoping out who to approach and couldn’t find any young males so we went for a young asian female who looked really friendly. We chose $100 for the tip – mainly because we had a free room anyway and thought $100 would up the stakes alot. Sandwiched the $100 between credit card and id and asked for a comp upgrade. She immediately pocketed the cash and then said there was nothing – that they were selling the upgrade for $50 a night. I said no thanks. She suggested we take our current room and then call to ask for an upgrade later. I said we were not in a rush to check in and would wait and see what happens. She clearly had no intention of returning the money, so I simply asked for it back.

THEN, we checked in later with a woman in her early 30’s. She was SUPER cool and was obviously experienced in the tip practice. This time I opted to put the $100 under my hand (showing it while talking) and asked for an upgrade. She thought it would not be a problem. She offered us a deluxe suite but no fountain view or a regular room with fountain view. We chose the regular room with a view. She also gave us line passes for the buffet. Worked well in the end – didn’t feel strange at all. I wouldn’t do more than a $20 next time. If they can do it, I’m sure they would do it for that. In the end, I guess it just really all depends on who you get!
