Dining and entertainment in Las Vegas is expensive. The markup reflects what tourists are willing to pay. Locals have better options available and will not frequent Las Vegas Strip resorts without an incentive. Casinos understand this and offer discounts to locals.
The only requirement to receive a locals discount is a Nevada ID. It typically only takes one ID for an entire group to qualify. Some casinos require a players club membership. That restricts locals deals to those 21 years of age and older.
Caesars Entertainment Local Discounts
There are more locals discounts at Rio than any other Caesars Entertainment property. That is because it is off the Strip. Caesars tries to market Rio as a locals casino. It is more of a resort than most off-Strip casinos in Las Vegas. It has a multitude of dining and entertainment options compared to most locals joints.
Several Caesars properties on the Strip offer some sort of locals discounts. The exceptions are Caesars Palace and The Cromwell.
Rio – Rio offers locals 25% off at most of its restaurants. The offer is available at all restaurants except Hash Hash A Go Go, Royal India, Whopper Bar and Kim Dim Sum. All locals receive 25% off the buffet. Diamond and Seven Stars players receive 50% off buffets.
Locals also receive 25% off at all Rio bars. The Voodoo Zipline is 20% off for locals. Chippendales is buy one get one free.
Flamingo – Locals receive buy one get one free lunch buffets. Carlos & Charlie’s is 20% off. The “Legends in Concert” is $20 off per ticket. “X Burlesque” is $10 off.
Linq – While the Hash Hash A Go Go at Rio does not offer locals discounts, the one at Linq does. Locals can get buy one get one free lunch entrees there. Locals get free entry to Frank Marino’s Divas Las Vegas. The High Roller offers locals discount from time to time.
Planet Hollywood – Locals receive 20% off at the Spice Market Buffet and $15 off the Sin City Comedy show.
Paris Las Vegas – Paris Las Vegas offers locals two-for-one tickets to comedian Anthony Cools. The same offer applies to admission to the Eiffel Tower. Burger Brasserie is $5 off per entree with a Nevada ID. Jersey Boys tickets are $60 off for locals.
Harrah’s – Locals receive two-for-one tickets to Million Dollar Quartet and The Improv Comedy Club.
MGM Resorts Local Discounts
All MGM Resorts properties in Las Vegas are on the Strip. All offer locals discounts. In addition to the offers below, most hotels offer 15-20% off published rates to locals and resort credits. Most have wedding specials for Nevada residents.
Aria – Locals receive a free $75 resort credit on hotel rooms. Zarkana offers buy one ticket at regular price and receive a second one for $15.
Excalibur – Buy one get one free tickets for Thunder from Down Under show. Tournament of King dinner show is 20% off. Bee Gees tribute is buy one get one free.
Mandalay Bay – Locals receive 20% off hotel rooms. Border Grill offers 15% off checks to locals. All restaurants offer happy hour specials in the bar.
Luxor – Hotel rates are 20% off to locals. Carrot Top and Fantasy tickets are buy one get one free.
MGM Grand – Nevada residents receive 20% off of room rates. This includes rooms at The Signature at MGM Grand. This includes a one tier upgrade. Restaurants offer special happy hours to locals on a revolving basis. Jabbawockeez tickets are discounted to $50.
Mirage – The Beatles Love tickets are $79. Boyz II Win is 25% off to locals. Most restaurants offer 20% off to guests with a Nevada ID.
Monte Carlo – Andre’s Restaurant & Lounge and Brand Steakhouse offer 20% off to locals. The Pub offers 50% off beers during happy hour and all day Sundays.
New York New York – America, Broadway Burger and Gonzalez y Gonzalez offer 10% off to diners. Retail outlets offer 20% off with restrictions on some items such as alcohol and tobacco. The New York New York roller coaster is discounted to $10 with a Nevada ID with the purchase of one ticket at regular price. Zumanity is buy one ticket get one for $50.
Circus Circus – Locals receive $2 off an all day pass to the Adventuredome Monday through Friday.
Tropicana Las Vegas Local Discounts
Tropicana Las Vegas is owned by Penn Gaming. The company also owns M Resort. Tropicana offers locals 20% loss rebates at slots and video poker. This is paid in cash. The Laugh Factory and drinks at casino bars are 50% off with a Nevada ID.
Locals receive 25% off restaurants. Gold and Platinum tier players receive 50% off dining.
Tropicana will match the tiers of players at other casinos with a Nevada ID. There is also a private locals parking lot by the Tropicana Avenue entrance. All that you need is a Nevada license plate.
Stratosphere Locals Discounts
Stratosphere offers locals up to 30% off hotel rates. This includes a buy one get one free buffet and thrill ride pass. Nevadans receive a $29 all day thrill ride pass and tower entry. Tower entry without the rides is $14. The Sky Jump is $20 off. Claire Sinclair’s “Pin Up” is 25% off to locals.
