Delano and Mandalay Bay Las Vegas

If you haven’t been to Las Vegas in a while you might be surprised when you visit Mandalay Bay. Over the past couple of years the hotel and casino at Mandalay Bay have changed a lot. There are new names, new rooms, new places to eat and new ways to get around. Here’s an overview of the changes that Mandalay Bay has made recently.

Delano In and The Hotel Out

The Hotel was closed and renovated to become more of a boutique hotel inside of Mandalay Bay. The new hotel, Delano is being marketed and positioned as a separate hotel that’s connected to Mandalay Bay. The hotel rooms and hotel tower received slight cosmetic changes. Delano now offers its own pool, spa and dining options so you never have to leave the tower. You can now dine at Della’s Kitchen (American comfort food) and Rivea (French cuisine), which occupies the space once occupied by Mixx. Franklin is the lobby bar while Skyfall Lounge sits atop the hotel. 3940 Coffee and Tea rounds out the food and beverage options

Hotel Room Renovations

Earlier this year Mandalay Bay revealed long overdue renovations of their 3,000+ hotel rooms and suites. Mandalay Bay moved away from the desert like room design scheme. The new rooms feature a variety of new design elements including a cobalt and white color scheme, a warm ruby and latte combination or rich lavender and mocha scheme.

Convention Expansion

The convention center at Mandalay Bay has been expanded by 350,000-square foot and now checks in around 2 million square feet. The size still lands it 3rd in Las Vegas behind the Las Vegas Convention Center and Sands Expo & Convention Center but it’s of the top 10 largest convention centers in America. The expanded convention space may lead to more conventions in the future which means more excuses to visit Las Vegas.

Nightlife

Nightlife wasn’t always much of an option when visiting Mandalay Bay but that changed when Light nightclub opened in 2013. The opening was followed by the dayclub experience called Daylight. If you’re looking for a party atmosphere but don’t want the nightclub experience you can head to the Foundation Room atop Mandalay Bay.

New Dining

There have been a slew of dining changes at Mandalay Bay in the past few years. Here are some of the new(ish) places to eat at Mandalay Bay: Citizens Kitchen (24 hour cafe), Kumi (Japanese restaurant), Rx Boiler Room (modern gastropub) and Slice of Vegas (pizza). You also have quick access to the restaurants at Delano and Four Seasons.

Casino Floor

New carpeting might be the first thing you notice when you look at the casino floor at Mandalay Bay but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The slot floor and table games have been reconfigured to create new traffic patterns. It’s a little confusing at first but nothing you won’t be used to after a couple of laps around the property.
