Upgraded from 2 standard rooms to 2 bedroom East Tower suite

We had a reservartion two standard rooms at $95 for 10 nights for the bridge tournament. Luckily we arrived at a quiet time at check-in. Gave my credit card with $20 under it, and asked for complimentary upgrades and did some small talk. Receptionist Ria (45-50) was very helpful. Told her we would have some meetings (read party) for 12 people and that it would be great if we could get a suite for that. She found us a great 1200 sqft East Tower suite, with two bedrooms, two bathrooms with jacuzzi, a bar and a guest rest room. Great. She even told us to check the suite out first, and return if we didn't like it! Easily the best spent $20 this year.

Upgraded from Standard to Standard Plus!

I came to the front desk, and with the help of this website I gave the person upon check in a "little something extra". The check in personel was wearing a black suit, had slicked back nasty hair and was wearing these really creepy glasses. Anyway, I slipped him the tip while shaking his very soft slippery hand. He must have been busy befor he met with me! He upgraded me to a room overlooking th "O" theatre!! The toilet in the room was also very clean :)

Upgraded from Deluxe Strip View to Deluxe Strip View - high floor, renovated

I had reserved two deluxe (standard) strip view rooms, and decided to try the sandwich. I gave $40, figuring $20 per room. The front desk clerk, a blond late 20's woman, asked for my ID and credit card, and I slipped the $40 between the two. She took the sandwich and put the $40 on her keyboard. I asked if there were any complimentary upgrades available, and she said she was looking but then came back that the best that she could offer us was to put us on the 23rd floor (top floor for the standard rooms) in a renovated room (the Mirage is currently in the process of renovating all their rooms). She put the $40 in her pocket and gave us line passes for the Mirage restaurants and buffet.

I'm marking this as a success because she took the money and tried to do something for us, but frankly for $40 I would have hoped for more, such as an upgrade to Tower Deluxe rooms. Maybe because it was two rooms this was harder, but the rooms we got were the same as what we had reserved, just on a high floor. We never did use the line passes. Additionally, when we got to our rooms (three hours later), one of them had one king bed when we had reserved two queens, the front desk gave us a lot of trouble about switching rooms, and the new room didn't have a strip view.

Upgraded from Luxury Suite to Luxury View Suite on 32nd floor facing strip/pool

I did the basic $20 bill sandwich between the CC and the DL. I asked if there were any upgrades available or at least something with a nice view. He replied that there was an upgrade to the 32nd floor that would normally be $45 per night, but he'd take care of that and pocketed the tip.

Got to our room and had a view of the pool and Palazzo and what remains of the strip (behind that nasty condo construction).

Upgraded from standard to nothing

I went on a Friday afternoon, the checkin desk had a huge line going past the ropes. It took at least 45 minutes to get to the clerk, when I asked if she had any suites available with the $20 visible between the license and credit card she chuckled and said no, didn't even give me the option of paying for the upgrade. The standard room was horrible: smelled like smoke, burn holes in the carpet, hairdryer didn't work, someone had punched in the bathroom door, hair in the shower, bathroom faucet handle fell off (but screwed back on), no maid service the second day (do not disturb sign on till 1pm), had to call for towels and it took them an hour to deliver them. The food and drinks were very expensive: $4 water, $15 mixed drinks, $15 burger, fries and soda. The only good thing about staying at Caesars was free cover to PURE nightclub but they don't advertise it too much so I didn't find it till the last night. Oh and with the Cher, Bette Midler, Elton John trifecta they have playing at the colasium there were a lot of gay people which could be good or bad depending on what your looking for.
